Slim Sayings

Stampin Up Slim Sayings

I am always looking for way to use the beautiful Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper.  It is so hard to make that first cut into the 12′ x12″ paper.  I don’t know why.  I buy it to use it but then it is so gorgeous, I hate cutting into it.  I am have made a much bigger effort to use it lately and this card is a perfect way to use up some of the leftover scraps you have laying around.

The best part of a card such as this one is it was very easy to make.  I used a strip of the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper that I had left over.  It was 1″ x 12″.  I cut it into four strips that were 1″ x 3.50″ and evenly layered them onto a 4.5″ x 3.5″ piece Evening Evergreen cardstock.  I did this so I could wrap a piece of the Evening Evergreen 3/8″ Chevron Weave Ribbon around the strips of DSP.  Before I wrapped the ribbon, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Slim Sayings and cut it out using a die from the set called Waves.  This die set is in the upcoming 2022/2023 Annual Catalog but is available for pre-order now.  Then I threaded the ribbon through the die cut, wrapped it around the strips of the Designer Series Paper and tied a knot.  Lastly I layered it on an Evening Evergreen card base.

Sadly some of the products I used on this project are retiring on May 2nd.  Slim Sayings has coordinating dies called Slimline Cards are in the January – June Mini Catalog and they will be retiring on June 30th.  The Pansy Petals DSP and the Evening Evergreen Chevron Ribbon and both retiring on May 2nd or until supplies last.  The Waves Dies are in the upcoming Annual Catalog.

On a side note, I wanted to share that my posts may be shorter or less frequent for a while.  I tore my Achilles Tendon and had surgery on it last week.  I am not allowed to put any pressure on my foot for weeks.  Unfortunately, my stamp room is upstairs and I can not climb stairs a while.  I have made a few cards prior to this so I will have some posts.  A good thing is I was able to preorder some items from the new catalog that comes out in May.   The bad thing is I might have forgotten some things on my order and I might have order multiple things of the same items as I am a little groggy!  Thanks for your patience!

Waves Of The Ocean

Stampin Up Waves of Inspiration

I am really loving this Stampin’ Up!® early release of the Waves Of The Ocean Suite.  I have always been a beach girl.  Our family and friends would go to Jones Beach, which is on Long Island, a lot when we were kids.  There are multiple beaches there but we always went to Beach 2.  The waves were huge (for a little girl) and I would spend hours in the water riding the waves.  Often times I would get caught up in a wave and be pulled underneath while I tumbled onto shore.  I would get right back up do it again a hundred times.  Other mothers would watch and said to mother “aren’t you worry she will drown?” and my mother would always say “Try to stop her”.  I would come home bruised, scratched but still loving it.   I do have to admit I have done this a few times as an adult but it seems to hurt much more now.

The Waves Of The Ocean Suite includes the stamp set called Waves Of Inspiration, the coordinating dies called Waves Dies, beautiful Designer Series Paper called Waves Of The Ocean, gorgeous Blue Foil and Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels.  Click HERE to see  a video showing how they designed the Designer Series Paper.

To make my card I first took a 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White card stock and stamped the bottom of it with the background stamp called Gentle Waves using Balmy Blue ink.  This stamp is in the 2022 January – June Mini Catalog.  Then I took a Blending Brush and blended Balmy Blue ink on top of the waves and the sky.  Next I stamped the Pelican on top of the post five times in Crumb Cake ink and cut them out using the corresponding die.  I cut the Pelican off three of them and made the dock out of two.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Slim Sayings and the seagulls in Misty Moonlight ink.  Lastly, I added cut two clouds from the Waves Dies and adhered them to the card.

Daffodil Daydream

Stampin Up Daffodil Daydream

Yesterday was my friend, Laura’s birthday.  Laura is such a sweet person.  She is a stamper, like me, and her cards are so amazing.  She is so talented.

I made this birthday card for Laura.  I knew I had to use the sentiment from Slim Sayings on her card because she truly is one of a kind.  Laura is a simple stamper, too so I knew I didn’t want to make something too complicated.  I decided to use the bundle called Daffodil Daydream.  This bundles includes the stamp set of the same name and the Daffodil Dies.  If you purchase them in a a bundle you can save 10%.  I inked up the stamp using my Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin Write Markers.  I used my Stamparatus for this.  I first colored the leaves in Granny Apple Green ink, huffed on the stamp (which basically means to breathe heavily on it to reactivate the ink and then stamped it on Basic White card stock.  I had to do this a couple of times because sometimes it is hard to see all the spots that need coloring.  That is why the Stamparatus is so perfect because you can stamp in the exact same spot over and over.  After I was happy with the leaves, I colored each of the flowers separately and stamped them in place.  Then I cut the bouquet out using the coordinating die.

I stamped the sentiment from Slim Sayings in Flirty Flamingo ink and cut out each word separately.  I adhered a piece of the Sunshine and Rainbows Designer Series Paper  to a Basic White card base.  You can get this DSP for free during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order.  It is a 6″ x 6″ pack with 48 sheets of beautiful bright colors.  I added the little sliver of Flirty Flamingo card stock along the edge.  Lastly, I tied a piece of White Baker’s Twine around the stems and adhered it to the card base using Dimensionals.

Happy birthday, Laura.  I hope you had a great day and I look forward to seeing you this summer!

Slim Sayings

Stampin Up Slim Sayings

I was so excited when I first saw the Slim Sayings Bundle in the Stampin’ Up!® 2022 January – June Mini Catalog. This bundle includes a stamp set called Slim Sayings (which has six different large sentiments) and coordinating dies called Slim Card Dies.  These dies are such fun because they cut our different backgrounds for your cards.  Slimline cards have been really popular lately.  I have actually made a few that I in the past but having sentiments and dies to go with them is great fun.  Slimline cards can be different sizes.  The products Stampin’ Up!® are made for a 3.5″ x 8.5″ card.  Some slimline cards are 3″ x 6″.  It doesn’t really matter what size you like because both are fun.  I even used the Slim Sayings stamp set on this card which is an A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) card.

To make this card I first stamped the sentiment on a piece of Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper using Misty Moonlight ink.  This paper is one of the Sale-a-bration products you can get for free with a qualifying order.  I cut it out using a die from the set called Tailor Made.  Then I stamped it again on another piece of this Designer Series Paper and just cut out the word “one” using a smaller Tailor Made die.  Then I cut two pieces of 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon Combo in Misty Moonlight and attached one to the top of each tag. I took a piece of White Baker’s Twine (Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack) and tied a bow around both of them.  Then I glued the smaller one over the larger tag.  It lined up perfectly.

Next I took a third piece of the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper and cut out a rectangle using the Stitched Rectangles die set.  Then I ran this piece of DSP through my Cut ‘N Emboss Machine using the new Gingham embossing folder.  It is a little hard to see in the photo but it added a lot of dimension to the paper.  I layered this on a Misty Moonlight card base and attached the tags using Dimensionals.

If you order the Slim Saying bundle during the month of February you can get the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper for free!  This paper pack has 48 sheets of 6″ x 6″ patterned paper.
