Masking Fun

Summer Silhouettes, Masking, A Dozen Thoughts

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly club meeting.  It uses a Masking Technique.  This is where you take a piece of painter’s tape or medical tape and place it across of a piece of cardstock.  Make sure you stick it to your arm, leg or pants before placing it on the cardstock so it will be easier to peel off when you are done.  After placing the tape, you then stamp your various stamps around it.  In this case, we used the retiring stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  It such a pretty set with lots of flowers, leaves and a trellis.  I’ll miss this set.  After you are pleased with all the stamping you did, then you can peel off the tape and then stamp the sentiment in the middle (we used A Dozen Thoughts, which is also retiring).  It is really easy to do and has a very nice effect.

Grateful Bunch

Grateful Bunch

This is a stamp set that is in the 2016 Occasions Catalog called Grateful Bunch.  It has a matching punch called Blossom Bunch Punch and you can save 15% by buying both in a Bundle.  It is one of those sets that is in the catalog but doesn’t get a lot of attention.  I don’t know why.  Well, I must admit it didn’t catch my eye right away either, but the more I looked at it, the more interesting it became.  Now I really like it, and if you read my blog you will know that I use it a lot.

The lattice behind the flowers is from the stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  It is in the Annual Catalog.  The sentiment is actually from a kit called Watercolor Wishes.  Kits are great because after you put together all the cards, you still have stamps and ink to use on future projects.  I love this stamp set and plan on using it a lot.

A Summer Silhouettes Celebration

Summer Silhouettes, And Many More, Pictogram Punches

I made this card for a friend of mine who lives in Florida.  She used to live up here in the frozen North but she is smarter than me and moved to warmer weather.  Of course, I laugh at her during the summer when it is beautiful up here and sweltering hot in Florida.  I guess there is no perfect place to live (except Hawaii maybe).  I was going to send her a card with snow and cold things on it but then I would have to listen to her tell me how wonderful the weather is down there!  Good thing we are good friends and can kid each other!

I cut the oval out using the Ovals Collection Framelits to give the card a “framed” look.  I thought it made it look kind tropical!

Summer Silhouettes

Summer Silhouettes

Making a sympathy card is never a fun thing especially when you need to use one.  A good friend, who lives in Rome, Italy, lost a good friend so Rob and I wanted to send the husband a card letting him know we were thinking of him.  I made this card using the stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  First, I stamped it in Black ink and then again in Versamark and embossed it using White Embossing Powder.  The I sponged So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, Wisteria Wonder and Marina Mist (from the bottom to the top).  The parts that are embossed don’t pick up the colors of the ink.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Summer Silhouettes

Flower Patch

I am a sucker for flower stamps.  I think I must own just about every one there is in the new catalog.  This time I used the Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  It was a quick and easy card to make.  I didn’t use punches or my Big Shot (can you believe that?).  It just required a little stamping, cutting a piece of Designer Series Paper from the pack called Designer Soiree and tying a piece of Coastal Cabana Bakers Twine around it.  It could not be much easier than that.  Whenever someone says they don’t have time to stamp, I tell them they could make a card in 5 minutes or less!  It is true!!

Summer Silhouettes

Summer Silhouettes, A Dozen ThoughtsNo one likes the idea of having to send a sympathy card but sometimes you need to whether you like it or not.  Summer Silhouettes is a great stamp set to use for this kind of card.  I am so happy that this set is carrying over to the new Annual Catalog because it is such a pretty set.  I love the trellis stamp as well as all the two-step stamping flowers.  A two-step stamp is one where you can use two stamps to make it whole.  One stamp might be a stem and the other is the flower.  For this card I used the leaves and the flowers.  I rounded the corners of the card using my Envelope Punch Board. Not only does it make great envelopes, but it can be used as a corner rounder too!  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.

A Flower Shop Happy Birthday

DSC01758

I made this card for Ann’s birthday today.  I won’t tell you how old Ann is because I don’t think she would appreciate that.  Let’s just say she is just the right age for her!  Once again, I found a card similar to this on Pinterest.  It is a great place to find ideas.  There are so many creative people out there who love to share their work so I have to admit, I do take advantage of their creativeness at times.

This card uses a few different stamp sets.  The flowers are from Flower Shop and are punched out using the Pansy Punch.  The trellis and leaves are from Summer Silhouettes and the greeting is from A Dozen Thoughts.

Happy birthday, Ann,  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Everything Will Be Ok

DSC01360

I love this expression – “Everything will Be Ok, even if we can’t see what ok is yet”.  It is a great sentiment to use when someone you know just has so much stuff going on and you just want to let them know that you are thinking about them and that things will work out in the end.  It is from the stamp set called Really Good Greetings, which really does have good greetings!

I actually used a lot of different stamp sets on this card.  The trellis is from Summer Silhouettes.  The flowers are from Mixed Bunch and Flower Shop and the leaves is a Big Shot die called Sizzlits Little Leaves.  Of course, still loving those In Colors!

A Simple One Layer Card

One Layer Card

I know I have talked about this before, but sometimes you just need a card and you don’t have a lot of time to mess around with it.  I love one layer cards.  They are CAS (Clean and Simple) but can be so pretty.  It literally took about 3 minutes to make this card.  It took me longer to find the stamp sets I wanted to use then to actually stamp it.  The sets I used were Flower Shop and it’s matching punch called Pansy Punch (save 15% and buy the Bundle), Summer Silhouettes for the trellis and a Hostess Set called Express Yourself.  This set has 12 different stamps in a beautiful font.  You can own this set but having a party with qualifying sales!  If you are interested, just send me an email or give me a call!

Summer Silhouettes & Floral Fusion

Summer Silhouettes

Summer Silhouettes

I have been trying lately to use some of my Stampin Up! merchandise that hasn’t seen the light of day in a while.  I bought the Floral Fusion Sizzlets a long time ago and I think I have only used them once.  I am not sure why because I think they make beautiful flowers in seconds!  You just run it through the Big Shot machine and glue them together.  Easy and pretty!

The trellis and the leaves are from Summer Silhouettes.  The Happy Birthday banner is from the Hostess Set called Banner Greetings.  You can buy this set for $10 for wood mount or $8 for clear mount with qualifying sales.  It is such a cute set and banners are very popular right now.  You see them everywhere.
