Marbled Pick A Pumpkin

This is the third card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  We have a few new members in our club so I decided I wanted to show them background stamps.  Background stamps have been around a long time but I often forget about them.  They are perfect for adding some interest and color to a card.  Stampin’ Up! has ten different background stamps.   In this case, we used the stamp called Marbled.  I love the swirls this stamp makes.  In this case I used Soft Sky for the background.  I originally used Lemon Lime Twist but I didn’t really like how it turned out.  I’ll let you decide.

The pumpkins are from the Pick A Pumpkin stamp set and its matching Framelits called Patterned Pumpkins.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts.

Oh So Eclectic

After having a birthday, I needed to get back on the Thank You card wagon.  My family gave me some amazing gifts.  I told them all I really wanted is for all of them to come see me but that wasn’t quite possible since they live so far away so gifts was the next best thing!  David did come out for dinner with us that night, which was fun.

I made this card using the stamp set called Oh So Eclectic.  This stamp set has some matching Framelits called Eclectic Layers and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  These are both part of a suite which usually means there are other products that go with them.  In this case, there is Designer Series Paper called Naturally Eclectic,  There are card overlays which are also called Naturally Eclectic.  I love the way Stampin’ Up! puts these products to together to help take the guesswork out of matching products up.  Although I didn’t use all of these products on this card, I will list them below for your convenience.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Thankful Thoughts.

An In Color Stamp Off Challenge

I know everyone loves Fridays because it is usually the last day of the week to work.  I know a lot of people work weekends too but Fridays have always been looked at that way.  I love Friday because it is the day Jackie, Buffy and I have our Stamp Off Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a color one.

I decided to use Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide.  I love Lemon Lime Twist but since I use it so much I decided to give some love to the other colors that I don’t use very often.  It is not that I don’t like them because I do.  I just forget about them.

For my card I used the stamp set called Oh So Eclectic.  I won this stamp set at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage last April.  This stamp set has matching Thinlits called Eclectic Layers and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The sentiment I used is from Thankful Thoughts and the splatters are from Timeless Textures.

The layout of this card may look familiar to some of you.  Whenever I get stuck making a card I usually try to find a sketch challenge.  I got this sketch challenge from Create With Connie and Mary.  Jackie participates in this challenge quite often which is where I first heard of them.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using three of the new In Colors.

Daisy Delight

As some of you might know, Rob and I bought a small cottage on Lake Ontario in May.  It is awesome and is a dream come true.  We have always wanted to live on the water.  I have to pinch myself to remind me that it really happened.

One of the best things about this cottage (other than it is right on the lake) is the neighbors.  They are all so nice and friendly and lots of fun.  They all have big families that come up on the weekends.  Rob and I really enjoy watching all these kids running around having a great time.

A couple of the neighbors were so kind and brought us welcoming gifts.  Stamping at the cottage has been a challenge but I have managed to do it.  It takes me forever to make a card because I keep spending most of my time staring out the windows at the waves.  At home, my stamping area is in the basement with no windows so it is easy to concentrate down there. Not so much here.

In any case I needed to make a couple of quick thank you cards.  I used the Daisy Delight Stamp set and matching punch called Daisy (you can buy both in a Bundle and save 10%). As you recall I am also trying to use my Designer Series Paper (I used Delightful Daisy) more often.  These items all go so well together (as you can tell by the names!).  I’ll show you the other card I made in a couple of days.

A Fun Fold Card With Totally Trees

Totally Trees. Thankful Thoughts, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly Stamp Club.  It is a Fun Fold card which means it doesn’t fold in the conventional way.     There were so many awesome Holiday products in the 2016 Holiday Catalog that I sometimes forget there are also non-holiday stamp sets.   This card used the stamp set called Totally Trees.  It is a fun set because it has seven different trees you can use.  The sentiments are from the stamp set called Thankful Thoughts, which is in the 2016 Annual Catalog.

Here is the inside of the card:

This style of Fun Fold is very easy to make.  Instead of scoring the card in half like a normal card, you score your 8.5″ x 5.5″ cardstock at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.  Then I just put the piece of Soft Suede cardstock in the center.  You just to remember to only put your adhesive on the top half of the cardstock or it won’t open.

Beginning today Stampin’ Up! is offering a Year End Closeout sale!  There will be hundreds of products on sale up to 60% off.

Detailed Floral Thinlits

Detailed Floral Thinlits

I was looking through some of my cards and realized that I forgot to post some from a while ago.  We made this card at our monthly Stamp Club meeting a couple of months ago.  I actually think it was right after the new catalog came out in June.  I remember doing this card because it uses one of my favorite new Thinlits called Detailed Floral Thinlits.  It also shows two of the new In Colors (Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim) PLUS it uses one of the new Ruched Ribbons in Dapper Denim.  It covered a lot of bases!  Oh, and it also used a new stamp set called Thankful Thoughts AND new dies called Layering Ovals.  Wow!  That is a lot of new products to show all in one card!  It is a whole week’s worth of posts in one!  Now I can take the rest of the week off!  Ha!  Just kidding!

Another Project Life Card

Project Life, Thankful Thoughts

This is another card made with the Hello Lovely Project Life Card Collection.  I really like the cards that came with this collection.  Here is another card I made earlier using this set.  If you need a quick card these are perfect for that.  All I did was stamp the “thanks” and cut it out using the Layering Ovals Framelits and adhere it to a piece of Soft Sky that I also cut out using this set of Framelits.  Then I added a piece of thick Baker’s Twine and attached it all together.  It took five minutes at the most.  Stampin’ Up! has six different Project Life Card Collections in the Annual Catalog and a holiday one in the Holiday Catalog.

Thankful Thoughts

Thankful Thoughts

Making cards does not always have to be a complicated endeavor.  Life gets busy and sometimes you just don’t have enough time to do everything but you want to acknowledge that someone did something nice for you.  This card was very simple to make and did not take a lot of time.

First I used my Stampin’ Sponges to add the color to the background.  I used Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron and Wisteria Wonder for my colors.  Then I took the largest stamp from the set called Thankful Thoughts and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Lastly, I added a couple of sequins to add a little sparkle to the card.

Flourish Thinlits

Flourish Thinlits, Thankful Thoughts

This was a quick and easy card to make and, as you can see, has very little stamping.  It uses a new set of Thinlits called Flourish Thinlits. This set of Framelits goes with the stamp set called Flourishing Phrases (which I didn’t use) and you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.    The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Thankful Thoughts.

Stampin’ Up! has really outdone themselves with this year’s new catalog.  There are so many new stamp sets, Framelits and Thinlits.  I love Framelits and Thinlits and I think I pretty much bought all of the new ones.  If you don’t have a catalog and you live locally you can come pick one up for free.  If you would like me to mail you one, you just need to pay for postage and I would be happy to send it to you.
