Dear Doily

Dear Doily is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It had a set of matching die but due to their popularity they sold out and Stampin’ Up! can not get anymore in time before the catalog retires.  I just wanted to show you that you can still use the stamp set and make cute cards.

Stampin’ Up! has been talking a lot about the different kinds of stampers.  There is the Beginner, who is someone who is brand new to stamping.  There is the Casual stamper who has a few supplies and the Avid Stamper who has to have it all (like me!).  This card is for the beginner stamper.  It only uses one color of cardstock, stamps and ink.  It is quick and easy to make and I think anyone who received this in the mail would love it.

To make this card, I randomly stamped the background using the Dear Doily stamp set in Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green.  Then I used a stamp from Timeless Textures and Daffodil Delight ink to break up all the white.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Daisy Delight.  This set is in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.

First Frost

First Frost is a stamp set that is in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  Before I forget, this catalog ends on January 2nd.  So many of the great products in this catalog are retiring.  Luckily, First Frost is one of the sets that is being carried over.  It has matching dies called Frosted Bouquet and if you purchase them in a Bundle by January 2nd can save 10%.  After January 2nd you will still be able to purchase both of these products but not get the Bundle savings.

To make this card, I first inked the flowers in Balmy Blue ink and then took my Night Of Navy Marker and “thumped” the stamp.  Thumping is a technique is where you just bounce the marker over areas of the stamp.  If you look at my flowers you can see where I added the Night of Navy ink to the centers and the edges of the stamp.  It gives it a two toned look.

The splatters on the card were made using the stamp set called Timeless Textures.  The sentiment is from the set called Sorry For Everything.  Both of these sets are in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.

Another Colorful Seasons

Have I mentioned before how much I love Colorful Seasons and the matching Thinlits Dies called Seasonal Layers?   I will never get tired of this set.  It is just so versatile that you can make cards all year long with just this set.  Plus, if you buy both in a Bundle you can save 10%!

To make this card I took the stamp set called Timeless Textures and and stamped the swirls in Cajun Craze onto Whisper White Cardstock.  Then I stamped the splatters using Crushed Curry before layering a lines from the die set called Swirly Scribbles.  Then I stamped the outline of three leaves onto Whisper White in Memento Black Ink and then sponged over them using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler before cutting them out.  As you can see I made each leaf a little different.

The sentiment is from Colorful Seasons too!

Colorful Seasons

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall.  The leaves in this area are just starting to turn.  Fall is a  beautiful time in Northern New York because the leaf colors are always so bright and beautiful.  Occasionally, we have a dull Fall because of the weather but for the most part it is gorgeous.  I never know why it is dull sometimes.  Some say it is because there is too much rain.  Others say it is because it is too dry.  I think Mother Nature and other powers above just decide that Fall will be dull and there is no rhyme or reason to it.

Last year we went to Denver in September.  One day we took a trip up to the mountains.  It was a guided tour because we didn’t have a car so we went with some other people.  There was a woman in our group that constantly talked about seeing the yellow Aspens.  “I hope they are yellow now.”  “I hope we can see the Aspens.”  “Where are the Aspens?”  I am thinking to myself who cares about yellow Aspens?  We have bright yellows, bright oranges and bright reds.  Just yellow trees?  How boring!  Then I found out she was from Texas.  Apparently trees don’t turn yellow (or any color other than brown) in Texas in the Fall so yellow was very exciting to her.  It made me realize how lucky we are.  I started pointing out the Aspens to her and she was so excited.

I made this Fall card using the stamp sets called Colorful Seasons for the leaves and Hello Friend for the sentiment.  I love big sentiments so you are going to see this one a  lot!  The splatters are from Timeless Textures.  I felt like the card needed something although after adding the splatters, I am not so sure it did.

An In Color Stamp Off Challenge

I know everyone loves Fridays because it is usually the last day of the week to work.  I know a lot of people work weekends too but Fridays have always been looked at that way.  I love Friday because it is the day Jackie, Buffy and I have our Stamp Off Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a color one.

I decided to use Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide.  I love Lemon Lime Twist but since I use it so much I decided to give some love to the other colors that I don’t use very often.  It is not that I don’t like them because I do.  I just forget about them.

For my card I used the stamp set called Oh So Eclectic.  I won this stamp set at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage last April.  This stamp set has matching Thinlits called Eclectic Layers and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The sentiment I used is from Thankful Thoughts and the splatters are from Timeless Textures.

The layout of this card may look familiar to some of you.  Whenever I get stuck making a card I usually try to find a sketch challenge.  I got this sketch challenge from Create With Connie and Mary.  Jackie participates in this challenge quite often which is where I first heard of them.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using three of the new In Colors.

Visiting Six Sided Sampler Again

Six Sided Sampler, Hexagon Punch

This time of year is one of the most exciting, yet saddest in the Stampin’ Up! world.  It is exciting because Stampin’ Up! has it’s convention (now called On Stage) and I am going!  It starts on April 14th and is in Salt Lake City.  Demonstrators from all over the world will be there and one of the best parts is we will receive a copy of the new 2016/2017 Annual Catalog that starts June 1st!

One of the saddest things about this time of year is the retirement list comes out.  We will probably find out what that list is at On Stage too.  We might not get the actual list (I don’t know for sure) but obviously if we have the new catalog, we can see what is missing from it.

Six Sided Sampler has been around for a long time and is one of my all time favorites.  It has a matching punch called Hexagon.  I don’t know, at this point, if this set is retiring or not.  I hope not but I will find out soon enough.

If you are interesting in attending On Stage with me next year, you can join Stampin’ Up! as a demo (only demos are allowed).  It is a lot of fun!

Vintage? Me?

Botanicals For You

First of all, just so you know, I can hear all your comments and noises concerning me making a vintage card.  Therefore, be careful what you say!  I suppose I could blame Buffy for this attempt.  She makes the most beautiful vintage cards ever and since I admire her so much, I thought I would try myself.  If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you will know I am not a vintage stamper.  Honestly, I stink at it.  Remember when I told you I often through my creations in the garbage?  Well most of the ones that land there are because I attempted something vintage.

That being said, I have to admit I kind of like this card (which is why I am posting it).  The Calypso Coral flowers are not really vintage but I added them anyway.  They are from the stamp set called Pictogram Punches.  The sentiment is from the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Botanicals For You.  You can get this set for free with a $50 order before March 31st when Sale-a-bration ends.  I also used a stamp set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog called Timeless Textures for the background.

Now, back to my usual CAS (Clean and Simple) cards!

Awesomely Timeless Textures

Awesomely Artistic, Timeless Textures

Timeless Textures is a stamp set that is in the 2016 Occasions Catalog that I would not normally order.  I didn’t like Gorgeous Grunge when it first came out and now I use it all the time so I thought I would take a chance and get it.  Well, now that I have gotten a chance to play with it, I like it!  I used that stamp set along with the dragonfly in Awesomely Artistic and  a sentiment from One Big Meaning.  I think it kind of makes it look like the dragonfly is a little drunk flying around in circles but I thought it turned out cute in spite of that.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase! Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order)! Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $155 worth of product for $99!
