A Stamp Off In Color Challenge

Stamp Off New Logo

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use our New In Colors.

2016 2018 In Colors

We could use all of them or just a couple.  If you know me at all you know I would not use all of them.  I would get hives using all of them so I decided to use four out of five.  Not too bad for me!

Swirly Bird, Swirly Scribbles

I made this card for our challenge but liked it so much I decided to use it as one of the cards  for my Stamp Club.  The stamp set I used is a brand new one from the 2016 Annual Catalog.  It is called Swirly Bird and has a set of matching Thinlits called Swirly Scribbles.  You can save 10% by purchasing both in a bundle.  I can tell you that you are going to see this set used a lot on my blog.  I like it a lot because there are so many different ways to use it.  The In Colors I used were Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum and Emerald Envy (with a little Daffodil Delight thrown in).

Now let’s head over to Buffy’s and Jackie’s blog to see what wonderful creations they made!

A Tic Tac Toe Stamp Off

Stamp Off New Logo

First of all I need to say Happy Birthday to my Mom today!  She is 91 and has more energy than I do!

Now, back to business.  It is that time again for another Stamp Off!  This time we are following a Tic, Tac, Toe board.  You can make a card using the items in any row or diagonal.  Here is the board:

April 2016 tic tac toe-2

I decided to make a card using the middle row (Framelit or Thinlit, White Perfect Accents and Flower).  I just happen to have a package of White Accents that I forgot about.  It was a great reminder to get them out and use them (instead of hoarder as usual).  Here is my card:

Botanical Builder Framelits

Ok, so I have to admit I did cheat a bit and added an Embossing Folder to my card.  Honestly, I am not sure if that is considered actually cheating since it didn’t say whether or not I could use other items too.  That is one of the great things about BS & J Productions.  There are no hard rules to follow. The other members (Buffy & Jackie) don’t care if you cheat a little or change things up.

Now let’s all go check out their web sites to see what they made using this board.  You can go to Buffy’s blog by clicking HERE and Jackie’s blog by clicking HERE.

Hexagon Hive

Tin Of Cards, Hexagon Hive

Have you ever gotten an idea in your head but you just can’t get it on paper?  This was a result of having that happen.  I had this great idea that involved diagonals, Sea Street and Designer Series paper.  As you can see, the only thing that made it on this card was the diagonals.  I wanted to make a masculine nautical card.  The only thing nautical about this card is the colors.  Let me tell you, a lot of card stock, stamped and unstamped made it to the garbage bin this time.  I was able to save it but I am not too sure how happy I am with the way it turned out.  Such is the life of a card maker!

I hope you have better luck with your ideas then I did with this idea!

#ImBringingBirthdaysBack

Number of Years, Large Numbers

Shannon West has started a new “movement” to bring birthdays back.  She decided that Facebook and other social media web sites have ruined birthdays because it is easier to write Happy Birthday to someone on Facebook instead of sending them a card.  She is right!  I would much rather have a birthday card sent to me than see birthday wishes on Facebook.  I bet the majority of you would too so I am joining her with “#Imbringingbirthdaysback”.

I made this birthday card using a stamp set from the 2016 Occasion Catalog called Number of Years.  This stamp set also has a set of matching Framelits called Large Numbers and you can not only save 15% by buying them both in a bundle but you are just $.75 away from getting something free from the Sale-a-bration Catalog. If you look closely, you can see I added a little sparkle to the numbers using the Wink Of Stella in clear.

I know this set is a little pricey but I think you will use it for years to come!  You can use it for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations.  You never have to buy another year stamp set (such as 2016).  It comes with some flowers, a banner (which is awesome) and all the needed ordinals (th, st, etc).  If you buy anything from Stampin’ Up!, you need to buy this set.

Watercooler Wednesday WWC42

47a5d720b3127cce98548acc27be0000003010wAbsWbFozaNGbUA

This week’s Watercooler Wednesday Challenge was given to us by Bev.  She used a photograph to challenge us.  Nov 11Here is my card:

Your Presents, Endless Birthday Wishes

The colors I used don’t really need any explanation.  They are the colors in the photograph (Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush, Basic Black and Whisper White).  I did have to sneak in a little Melon Mambo because of the Rubik’s Cube on the table.  The gifts represent the square one color pillows on the couch and the squiggle under the word “celebrate” is for the pillows that have the designs.

Now check out the other creations on our web site HERE and don’t forget to play along by posting a link to your creation!

One final noteToday is Veteran’s Day in the United States.  I would like to thank every person who is serving or has served in the militaryThank you for your service and keeping our country safe.

Petite Petals Thank You

Petite Petals, One Big Meaning

Today is Election Day.  You need to go vote.  I know many people don’t think their vote counts but it really does.  Many years ago, I ran for the local school board.  The election ended up in a tie vote.  I had so many people stop me on the street  the next day and say “Oh I am sorry I didn’t vote.  I just thought you would win”.  It is not exactly what anyone who runs for a public office wants to hear so make sure you vote!  It is important.  My father used to say “if you don’t vote then you can’t complain”.  So go.  Vote.  Now!  Afterwards you can stamp!

I will leave you with a smile.  Madelyn was a chicken for Halloween.  Get it?  Chicken and Waffles! (Go Vote!!).

Workshop Card

Lovely As A Tree, Tin Of Cards

This is a card that would be perfect for a workshop of brand new stampers.  It showcases so many of the awesome products that Stampin’ Up! offers.  The tree is from the stamp set called Lovely As A Tree and it comes in Wood Mount or Clear Mount so you can show the customers the high quality rubber stamps.  The sentiment is from Tin Of Cards and is a Photopolymer stamp so again you can show them how easy it is to line up the stamps.  The card uses two circle punches and an embossing folder called Stylish Stripes.  That way you can show them how the Big Shot works too!

Madelyn is five months old.  How did that happen so fast?  Isn’t she gorgeous?  The best part is she is coming to visit us this weekend and we get to babysit her while her parents go to a wedding!  I can’t wait.  I am going to take her cell phone shopping, to McDonalds and out for ice cream!  ( I am just kidding but as a grandmother I could if I wanted to!).

More Ombre Cards

Tin Of Cards

A couple of weeks ago our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge was to make a card using the ombre technique.  I made a bunch of them, but of course, only posted one for the challenge.  This card using the technique in a couple of ways.  First I stamped the background using a stamp from Kinda Eclectic.  I used Soft Sky, Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo.  Then I layered the labels from Lots Of Labels on top of that.  I wasn’t sure if I liked it very much so I made another card.

Flower Patch, Kinda Eclectic

This time I used the stamp set Flower Patch with the same background as the card on top.  Leave me a comment to let me know which one do you like better?

Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, Tin of Cards

Here is another birthday card using the stamp set called Vintage Leaves.  This set has a matching set of Framelits (also called Vintage Leaves) but I didn’t use them this time.  Instead, I used the stamps to make a background for this card.  By the way, if you buy both in a bundle, you can save 15%!

The greeting in the middle is actually recessed into the cardstock.  I know it is hard to tell by the picture.  I stamped the leaves onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then temporarily adhered it to the Garden Green cardstock.  Then I ran the smaller framelit from the Tags and Labels Framelits set onto both pieces of cardstock at the same time.  I had to run it through a few times to have it cut both pieces.  Then I took the two pieces of cardstock apart and ran the Very Vanilla piece through using a larger framelit.  It sounds more complicated than it is but doing it this way makes the windows line up perfectly.

Then I permanently adhered the two pieces of cardstock together on top of the Very Vanilla card background and lastly, stamped the greeting in the middle using the Tin Of Cards stamp set.  This is a Photopolymer stamp set so it was easy to line up.

I hope these directions don’t sound complicated because the card was really easy to make!

Thank You

One Big Meaning, Petite Petals

Stampin’ Up! sells some awesome stamp sets that can be used in everyday life.  August is my birthday month (as you already know) and I needed to make a bunch of thank you cards.  There is a stamp set in the Annual Catalog called One Big Meaning.  It has seven different stamps that all say thank you but each one says it in a different way.  Some are large and some are small(er).

The flowers are from a stamp set that has been around for a while called Petite Petals.  It has a matching punch, which is awesome because who wants to cut out all those flowers by hand??  The lines with the little swirls are from the stamp set called Tin of Cards.

The girls hanging out together.  I am not sure how Madelyn feels about Waffles.  She is probably thinking “is that big furry thing going to lick me again?”.
