Paradise Palms

Stampin Up Paradise Palms

After a long couple of travel days, Rob and I made it to our happy place.  On the way, we stopped at my son, Zachary’s house because we take every chance we get to see grandchildren.  We arrived in Florida on Saturday.  This is our view:

Now you know why it is my happy place!

I thought it would be very fitting to post a card using the stamp set Paradise Palms considering I get to look at one while we are here.  Paradise Palms has a coordinating set of dies called Palms.  I didn’t use them on this card but they are fun to use.

This card was super easy to make.  First I stamped the rectangles in Parakeet Party and Coastal Cabana ink using the stamp set called Watercolor Shapes on Basic White card stock.  This is a get set to use for backgrounds.  Next, I stamped the palm trees from Paradise Palms in Basic Black ink.  I layered this onto a Parakeep Party card base.  That is it.  Simple as can be!

Don’t forget, if you purchase the stamp set called Paradise Palms and the Palms die set, you will earn a free product from the Sale-a-bration catalog!

Stampin Up Watercolor Shapes

Sara Douglas is the CEO of Stampin’ Up!®.  Her Mom, Shelli started the company along with her sister more than thirty years ago.  Shelli stepped down as CEO a few years ago and Sara took over the reins.  A couple of weeks ago Sara did a live Facebook video using the stamp set called Watercolors Shapes. Watercolor Shapes is a DisINKtive stamp set which means that each stamp creates different opacities in a single stamp which brings depth to the image.  In Sara’s video, she showed how to make a background using this stamp set.  She just used one stamp and one color to make the entire background.  I decided to use this idea but I wanted to use more than one stamp and more than one color.

I started to make my background using the square stamp with Soft Succulent ink.  Next I stamped the large Fresh Freesia rectangle.  I built the rest of the background from there using Soft Succulent, Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya ink.  I didn’t watch the rest of Sara’s video so I don’t know what she did with her background but I decided it didn’t need a lot more so I just stamped the sentiments from Biggest Wish in Memento Black ink and added a few Matte Black Dots.  Even though I used a purplish color, I think this card would make a good masculine card.

Paradise Palms

Stampin Up Paradise Palms

It is really warming up here in Nashville.  I love that Spring arrives in March instead of in June as it does in Northern New York.  The only things we are missing are the beach and the palm trees.  It is ok though.  I am happy that is just isn’t snowing!

Paradise Palms is a great bundle that is in the 2022 January – June Mini Catalog.  It has coordinating dies called Palm Dies.  The dies cut out most of the images in the stamp set but they also cut out a cute border, a palm leaf and a giant palm tree.  This is the die I used to make this card.  I cut it out using my Cut & Emboss Machine in Basic Black card stock.  I layered these palm trees on a piece of  Beauty Of The Earth Designer Series Paper.  The paper looks like a blend of the sky and the waves and I thought it was perfect for this card.  Next I stamped the moon in from the stamp set called Watercolor Shapes in So Saffron Ink.  Paradise Palms also has a moon but I thought it was too small for my card.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink.

As a reminder tomorrow is the last day to take advantage of the sale Stampin’ Up!® is having on certain bundles in the 2021/2022 Annual Catalog.  Here is a list of those items that are on sale.

Watercolor Shapes

Hello everyone.  It is once again time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge is called “Going In Circles”.  I debated using the Layering Circles Dies to make a card but decided to go in another direction and make a fun birthday card for one of my grandchildren.

Stampin Up Going In Circles

I used the stamp set called Watercolor Shapes.  This set has nine different shapes including circles, rectangles, ovals and squares.  It is a fun stamp set to use as a background for sentiments as well as just making a background in general.

To make this card I used a ton of different colors.  They included Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Pale Papaya, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam.  I think I covered them all but there may have been even more.  I usually put the colors in a box below the post but there are just too many.

I first stamped the large circle in Pool Party and then I just randomly stamped the small circles all over the place. After that I stamped the sentiments from Biggest Wish in Memento Black ink.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy did with circles.   I hope it didn’t make them go in circles! 🙂

Plentiful Plants

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time we have an inspiration challenge.  I don’t think we have done one of these before.  If we have, it was a long time ago and it was fun to do.  An inspiration challenge is when we are given a photograph and we need to use that as inspiration for our creation.  Here is the photo we used:

Isn’t this a fun photograph?  There are so many things we could use for inspiration on it.  I went back and forth between using the colors or the layout.  I love the colors but we don’t have a turquoise anymore so that made it hard.  I decided to use the plants and the floor as inspiration for my card.  I just loved that floor and the flowers and plants.

Stampin Up Plentiful Plants

To make this card I used a few different stamp sets and dies. To make the floor I used a stamp set called Watercolor Shapes.  This stamp set is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2021/2022 Annual Catalog.  I stamped some of the shapes in Sahara Sand ink and some in Smoky Slate.  Then I cut out the flower box in Basic White card stock using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.

Next I stamped the background leaves using the Plentiful Plants stamp set with Garden Green and Granny Apple Green ink and cut them out using the coordinating dies called Perfect Plants.  These are also in the Annual Catalog and can be purchased in a Bundle to save 10%.  I stamped the leaves in the front in Granny Apple Green and the berries or flowers hanging down in Flirty Flamingo ink.  Then I cut out a bunch of tiny flowers using the Peach dies in Fresh Freesia, Mango Melody and Basic White card stock and scattered them around the flowers and leaves.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment from Sweet As A Peach in Garden Green and adhered it to the card.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made using this inspiration photo.  I always love this part of our challenges.
