Waterfront & Lilypad

As some of you may know, I live on Lake Ontario.  Lake Ontario is one of the Great Lakes.  It is the deepest of them but not the largest.  Our year round house is on a bay of the lake but we can only see it through the trees.  We have always wanted a house on the lake where we can actually see it and swim in it.  We were so fortunate to be able to buy our dream cottage last year.  Every night we get these awesome sunsets (I’ve posted a few here) and every morning we can look out our window at the lake while drinking our tea or coffee.

I made this card with Lake Ontario in mind.  Our view doesn’t really have mountains in the background because we are facing west but it is close enough.  I used a couple of different stamp sets.  One is called Waterfront.  This set was in the 2018 Occasions Catalog and thankfully was carried over into the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  I think it was the most popular set.  The colors I used are Tranquil Tide (for the mountains and trees), Crumb Cake (for the land), a mixture of Balmy Blue and Night Of Navy for the water and Daffodil Delight and Pool Party for the sky. I actually sponged the water and the sky with these colors.  The sentiment is from Waterfront too.

The sailboats are from a brand new stamp set called Lilypad Lake.  This stamp set has matching dies called Lakeside Framelits and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I stamped them in Memento Black Ink and then cut them out using one of the dies.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to give them some color (Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie).

I do have to say, that although sailboats are beautiful to look at, I bought a new present this summer.  Isn’t she beautiful!!??!!

A Waterfront Challenge

Good morning everyone!  Today our Stamp Off Challenge is to use the stamp set called Waterfront.  Really now, this is not much of a challenge because this is an awesome stamp set.  Plus, it is being carried over into the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog!

Did you know this stamp set was inspired by a Demonstrator?  When you reach a million dollars in sales you get to design your own stamp set.  This one was by Connie Heisey and it is my favorite!  Normally I use this set to make a mountain or lake scene.  Today I decided to make it tropical.

This card is so easy to make because the stamps do all the work.  I first stamped the sand in Sahara Sand ink.  Then I sponged the water using Tempting Turquoise (which is one of the retiring Stampin’ Up! colors >insert sad face<).  The rest of the card was made using the stamps.  The colors are Pacific Point, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach (retiring), Sweet Sugarplum (retiring), Calypso Coral and So Saffron, Soft Suede (retiring) and Old Olive.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy have made using this set.  I am sure every card is different and beautiful because you can’t go wrong with this stamp set!

Waterfront Green Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today is Friday which means it is another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This week’s challenge is a St. Patrick’s Day challenge.  Ok, it is also a green challenge (thankfully) because I don’t really celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  When I was in college I had some friends who were Irish who were really into celebrating it.  The rebel in me decided to give them a hard time so I would always dress in orange (for a Scottish decent).  It successfully would drive them crazy.  Of course, as you all know I am still a bit of a rebel because I don’t always follow the rules on these challenges.

See how conveniently it says ‘or Green”?  Here is my card:

I decided to use the stamp set called Waterfront.  It is definitely my favorite, as well as thousands of other stamper’s favorite from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. Some very creative artists make amazing scenes with this stamp set.  Mine are not so amazing but I still enjoy making them.

I used Pool Party, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi cardstock.  The ink colors are Wild Wasabi, Tranquil Tide, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, So Saffron and I sponged the sky using Flirty Flamingo and Soft Sky.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made for this challenge.  Do you think either of them were a little rebellious?  We will see!

Waterfront Part Two

Yesterday I showed you a card that we made at our monthly stamp club meeting using the stamp set Waterfront.  It was a mountain lake scene.  Today’s card shows you the other theme you can make with this stamp set that is more “beachie”.  Yesterday we used the pine trees and mountains in this stamp set and today we used the palm trees.  The water and the sand are the same stamps we used yesterday.  This is such a fun set because it can make different watercolor scenes.

Have you ever done a kitchen renovation?  We are in the midst of one and it just doesn’t seem to want to go smoothly.  My sister is also doing a kitchen renovation and she is running into problems too. She ordered new appliances from one company and paid to have them installed.  The morning the appliances showed up so did one installer to put in the microwave, another installer to put in the stove, a different installer to put in the refrigerator and a fourth installer to put in the stove.  I am not exaggerating.  They sent four different installers!

So anyway, we had to pick out appliances.  Holy cow!  There are a lot to choose from.  I finally pick what I want and they were supposed to be delivered on Saturday.  They called and said they weren’t coming because it was too cold.  I wanted to say “suck it up, you live in the North Country” but I didn’t and they re-scheduled for Monday.  Monday comes and they called and didn’t want to come down my road.  I asked them why and they said they were not allowed to go down a “lake road”.  I asked what a “lake road” was and they said a road that goes to the lake!  What?  They told me I could bring my pretend pick up truck (I drive a Honda, mind you) and come to the end of the road to get the appliances, put them in my No truck, bring them to my house, unload them and then put my old ones back in the non-existent pick up truck and bring them back to the end of the road while they sat in their truck and waited.  They said they would not help because they were allowed to leave the truck unattended.  I would have to do this by myself in my pretend truck.  Whatever happened to good customer service?  So now, we have to live a couple more days with no countertops and no appliances while we wash our dishes in the bathroom sink.

My solution?  Go to my happy place stamp room!

Waterfront

The is the fourth project we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  The stamp set called Waterfront (item#146386) is in the 2018 Occasions catalog.  It has to be the most popular stamp set in the entire catalog.  Stampers are making the most beautiful cards using this set that are all over the internet.  The stamps themselves give a kind of watercolor look so even the most uncreative people (like me) can make beautiful watercolor cards using this set.

You can actually make a couple of different theme scenes with Waterfront.  First, there is the mountain scene as I made with this card.  Basically this card is made from using four different stamps in the set.  You can also make a beach or water scene.  It has palm trees and pines.  It has mountains and water.  Tomorrow I will show you a simple beach scene using it.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase! Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order)!
