Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge was to make a “get well” or “thinking of you” card.  I chose to use the Art Gallery Stamp set with the coordinating Floral Gallery Dies.

Stampin Up Art Gallery

One of the reasons I love this stamp set is because it has a lot of very useful sentiments.  Besides the one I used, it also has happy birthday, thank you, I miss you, congratulations, sorry, best wishes and you are lovely.  There is a sentiment for just about everything.

I stamped the flowers in this set a little differently.  The flowers in this set are two step stamps.  This means it takes two or more stamps to make an image.  I did not use the main background stamp on my flowers.  Instead I used the stamp that highlights the flowers using Blushing Bride ink.  Then I took my Blushing Bride Stampin Write Marker and lightly put strokes of color over the top using the side of the marker and not the tip.  I like how there is a lot of white space on the flowers.  I stamped the leaves using Granny Apple Green ink and then cut everything out using the coordinating dies.

I layered the flowers over a Basic White and Smoky Slate oval using the Layering Oval Dies.  As a side note, these dies are retiring on May 3rd or as long as supplies last.  These are a definite must have set of dies.  There are eight different sized ovals and seven scalloped ovals.  I placed everything on top of a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set I used really says “I’m thinking of you”.  It is rare that I would send a sympathy or thinking of you card without saying it was from Rob and me so I masked the word I’m using Washi Tape, inked the stamp in Smoky Slate, pulled off the Washi Tape (that part is very important or you will get a big blob of ink on your card stock) and then stamped it. I cut it out using one of the dies in the Floral Gallery set.   Lastly I added some Pastel Pearls.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  They make the most beautiful cards.

Prized Peony

Stampin Up Prized Peony

I had a little mini one person stamping class a couple of months ago at the cottage.  I showed one of my next door neighbors how to stamp.  She has stamped years ago but everything has changed so much that she wanted to try it again.  I showed you a couple of simple cards we made a while ago.  She was pretty excited about it and wanted to learn some other things such as die cutting and embossing so this was the card we made.

I first stamped the flower in Petal Pink ink onto Petal Pink cardstock and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments in Versamark and embossing it using Silver Embossing Powder.  Then I cut that out using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I layered this on top of a piece of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  Lastly I added a piece of Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon.  It was a simple card to make but it showed a lot of the techniques she wanted to learn.

Sympathy Card

A couple of weeks ago there was this awful, tragic accident in Upstate New York.  Seventeen people (plus the driver) were in a limo that ran a stop sign.  Everyone in the car was killed along with two pedestrians.  In that car were four sisters and their husbands.  Can you imagine losing all four of your children and spouses at once?  I can’t even think of anything worse right now.  I didn’t know any of them but my heart still ached.

As much as we dislike having to send sympathy cards, it is a fact of life.  I try to have some on hand. I know that sounds a little cold, but when someone dies, I don’t always feel like running to my stamp room to make a card.  I would rather just grab one and do what I need to do to help the people left behind.

I made this simple sympathy card using a new stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2018/2019 Annual Catalog called Kindness & Compassion.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and then embossed it using White Embossing Powder. The dragonflies are from the  set called Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  I cut them out of Basic Black cardstock and layered everything on top of a piece of 6″ x6″ Designer Series Paper (Subtles) in Pool Party.

Keep that family in your thoughts and prayers.  They are going to need it.

Summer Silhouettes

Making a sympathy card is never a fun thing especially when you need to use one.  A good friend, who lives in Rome, Italy, lost a good friend so Rob and I wanted to send the husband a card letting him know we were thinking of him.  I made this card using the stamp set called Summer Silhouettes.  First, I stamped it in Black ink and then again in Versamark and embossed it using White Embossing Powder.  The I sponged So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, Wisteria Wonder and Marina Mist (from the bottom to the top).  The parts that are embossed don’t pick up the colors of the ink.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Sympathy Card

As much as we all hate to have these situations, we sometimes need a sympathy card.  I usually keep a few on hand so that I will have something when the need arises.  If you have been reading my blog lately, you will know that I am in remission for hoarding my Designer Seriies Paper and my ribbon.  For some reason, I buy a lot of it (probably because it is so darn cute) but then I never use it.  At the end of the year, I have tons left over.  Well no longer!  I am a recovering nicely!

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Loving Thoughts.  I hope I will have the need for a Sympathy Card but in case I do, I am ready.

Washi Tape & Secret Garden

You already know about some Washi Tape that Stampin Up! has for sale that came with the Epic Day This and That Bundle.  In the new catalog, they are offering another set of this tape.  For this card, I combined both sets.  The  Basic Gray stripes is from the Epic Day collections and the Daffodil Delight is from the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape collection.  The flowers are from Secret Garden Stamp Set with the matching Secret Garden Framelits.

Best of Flowers Sympathy

Although I dislike making Sympathy Cards, I like to have some on hand just in case.  This became a Sympathy Card because I needed to use some kind of saying with it and the stamp set called Loving Thoughts seemed to work.  The first thing I did was take a flower stamp from the Best Of Flowers and ink with with Versamark.  Then I sprinkled White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  If you haven’t gotten the Stampin Up! Heat Tool, you should consider it.  It is so much quieter than my old one plus it has two settings – one for melting embossing powder and one for drying wet ink.  Love it!

Anyway, after I set the embossing powder I stamped the same set in Calypso Coral over the first set of flowers and then took a paper towel to wipe off the ink that was on the white flowers.  Ink does not dry on embossing powder so you would have mess if you didn’t wipe it off.

The card still looked a little plain so I sponged Calypso Coral Ink over everything.  I like the way it came out.

Butterfly Sympathy Card

As much as we hate the thought, we do have to make sympathy cards every now and then.  I CASE’d (Copy And Share Everything) from a card I saw on Pinterest.  I apologize that I do not recall who made the original card.

I really loved the colors and the way the butterflies were punched out of the embossed image.  I used two butterfly punches.  One is the Elegant Butterfly from the Annual Catalog and the other is the Bitty Butterfly  Punch from the Occasions Catalog.  The embossed image in the background is using the Flower Garden Folder.

Just Believe

The stamp set called Just Believe has been around a while and I am really hoping it does not retire this year.  It is very versatile because it can be used for birthdays, thank you cards, and sympathy cards.

This card was made using Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  I know that most of the Designer Series Paper in the annual catalog retire every year but this is one I will miss.
