A Sketch Stamp Off Challenge

This is the first week of our new schedule at BS & J Productions.  In case you missed it, we have decided to do our challenges every other week.  Sometimes life gets in the way of stamping, which is totally ridiculous if you ask me.  Nothing is more important than stamping, is it?  Well, maybe grandchildren are!

Today’s challenge is a sketch challenge.  I think maybe Jackie designed it but I usually get that wrong.

Here is my card:

Of course, I decided to take some liberties with the sketch.  It is what I do!.  I made this card using merchandise from the awesome 2017 Holiday Catalog.  The stamp set is called Snowflake Sentiments  This set has matching Thinlits called Swirly Snowflakes (although I didn’t use them) and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

The gold snowflake behind the sentiment is also from the Holiday Catalog.  They are called Foil Snowflakes and they come in gold or silver.  The back of them is actually white so you can put some ink on them and make them any color you wish.  You could even stamp them in Versamark and put a little Copper Embossing Powder on them to make them copper.  That would be awesome!

Lastly, the Washi Tape I used is called Year Of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape.  It it is also in the Holiday Catalog.  I used three pieces of the tape on this card.  The top and bottom thin gold tape is one and the middle section is another.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made with this sketch.

Another Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is a sketch challenge by Jackie (apparently I get that part wrong a lot so I can’t really promise it is Jackie’s but I think it is).  It could also be a layout challenge because it is called Pile It On. In any case, here is the challenge.

november-4-2016

Here is my card:

Swirly Bird, Time Of Year, Swirly Scribbles, Bunch Of Banners

I used a few stamp sets for this card.  One is called Swirly Bird (the bird), on is called Time Of Year, which is a hostess set in the Annual Catalog (Birthday) and the happy came from Crazy About You.  I used a couple of different Big Shot Dies too.  The wreath is from Swirly Scribbles and I cut the banner out using Bunch Of Banners.

As a side note, Buffy, Jackie and I are on our way to go to Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage.  Buffy and I are both going to the one in New Jersey but unfortunately, Jackie is going to Phoenix.  I can’t wait.  We will get an early peek at the 2017 Occasions and Sale-a-bration Catalogs and have a fun filled day with other demonstrators from the area.  If you are interested in more information and becoming a demonstrator, just send me an email.  I will be glad to answer any questions you have.  One of  my newest downline, Char, is also going! It should be a lot of fun.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I am sure we will be wowed!

Shooting Star Sliding Card

Shooting Star, Sliding Star

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It is an interactive card where the bee twirls around the bee hive when you tilt it.  We used to have to make these cards by hand but Stampin’ Up! came out with a set of Thinlits that does all the cutting for you.  The Thinlits are called Sliding Star and the matching stamp set is called Shooting Star. If you buy the Bundle you can save 10%!

There are actually two different dies in this set that make a slider card.  Here is a video from Stampin’ Up! that explains how the dies work.

A Quick & Easy Washi Tape Card

Washi Tape, Rose Wonder

Here is a quick and easy card that you can make in just a couple of minutes.  It uses the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Washi Tape.  Sadly, this Washi Tape Bundle is retiring because (even sadder) these In Colors are retiring this year.  I will miss them because I think they are awesome colors.   The good news is Stamping’ Up! will have more Washi Tape bundles in the new catalog.  In any case, you can use any Washi Tape to make this card.  You just put it along the bottom of the card and then stamp whatever sentiment you wish.  I used a stamp from the set called Rose Wonder which is in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  Then I just put it on top of a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  I think it took me longer to decide what sentiment to use then to make the card!

Grateful For You

Gorgeous Grunge, Merry Everything

When Gorgeous Grunge first came out, it looked like road kill to me.  I saw a card using it with Real Red and it was not pretty.  Then I decided to get out of comfort level and purchased it.  Now I love it (although I still will not use it with Red).  It is  great set just to add some color to the background of your card.  Washi Tape is another way to add color and the two of them just go well together.  This set of Washi Tape uses the 2015/2016 In Colors.  I am really going to miss these colors when they retire next spring.  Of course, I think I say that with every set of In Colors!

A Washi Butterfly

Washi Tape, Happy Birthday Everyone

I made this card for my friend, Sherry.  Yesterday she had a big birthday.  I mean BIG BIRTHDAY!  I won’t tell you how big but just know it was BIG!  The good thing is she is still very young at heart.

I thought this Happy Birthday stamp would be perfect for her BIG birthday since, well, it is a big stamp!  It is from a hostess set that is in the Annual Catalog called Happy Birthday, Everyone.  You can only buy this set if you either host a party that has $150 in sales or make a purchase of $150 or more.

I cut out the butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlits.  Then I lightly traced around it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock so I could correctly place the Washi Tape.

I hope you had an awesome birthday, Sherry!

Lovely Amazing You

Lovely Amazing You, Gorgeous Grunge

Lovely Amazing You is one of those stamp sets that is not in any Stampin’ Up! catalog but is available for purchase.  You can see a few other sets that are also available by clicking on the link about that says “Merchandise Not In The Catalog”.  I used this set to stamp the sentiment on this card.  I love the sayings and the fonts.  It reminds me of neat handwriting (certainly not my own!).

The splatters in the background are from Gorgeous Grunge and the butterfly comes in the stamp set called Butterfly Basics.  Try to ignore the ribbon I used.  I just realized it is retired!  Sorry about that!

Crazy About You

Crazy About You

Crazy About You is a great stamp set because it has a ton of words included with it.  You can put the words together to make different sentences.  For example, it includes the word “you”.  You can put it together with “amaze me”, “just be”, “crazy about”, “so proud of”, etc.  There are actually 30 different words or sayings.  I can’t think of a sentiment you would ever need that would not be included with this set.

The flower I used matches the Flower Medallion Punch.  I stamped it three times and then punch the largest part of the flower out and then fussy cut the two inner parts.  Then I layered them using Dimensionals so it gave it a 3D look.  The leaves are from the Bird Builder Punch.

Gift From The Garden

Gift From The Garden

This is the second card we made at our monthly club meeting.  It uses the stamp set called Gift From The Garden.  It has nine different stamps with it that are adorable.  One stamp is the flower pots we used.  I colored this stamp using markers (Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow).  There is also a watering can, gardening gloves, a trowel and their very strange shaped rubber boots for someone with teeny tiny feet!  Plus, there are three sentiments included.

As you can see (or maybe not) we used Updated Essentials Paper Piercing Pack to pierce around the flower pots on each side.  Here is a close up in case you can’t see it clearly:

Gift From The Garden

This pack has a bunch of different shapes that match some of our punches and Framelits.  We used the new set of Framelits called Lots of Labels for this card.

The strip of colors behind the labels is a piece of Washi Tape from the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Washi Tape pack.

Tin Of Cards Birthday

Tin Of Cards, Washi Tape

This card is full of new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Annual Catalog.  The first thing you might notice is the Washi Tape.  This set comes in all the 2015/16 In colors.  The best thing about Washi Tape is that it is so easy to use and really adds a pop of color to any project.  You just tear off a piece (you don’t even need scissors!) and stick it on your card.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Tin Of Cards.  This set actually goes with a kit (also called Tin Of Cards) but I use it all the time by itself.

Lastly you might notice the tags.  These tags are awesome!  They are called Tags & Labels Framelits.  There are two different shapes and each shape has six different sizes so you can layer them.  As you can see, I used three of them for this card.

Here is a picture of Madelyn at 2 months.  She seems to be growing so fast!  The best part is she is coming to visit me today and I can’t wait to see her!
