Acorny Thank You

Acorny Thank You

This is a birthday card I made for a man.  Sometimes it is hard to come up with ideas for men.  The thing is, most men would probably prefer a card that will make them laugh in some way, but when you have a wife, mother, or friend who makes cards, you get a handmade one.  You can always write something funny on the inside to make them laugh (such as a pun using another name for an acorn.  I’ll just leave it at that and let your imagination run wild!).

The acorn comes from a stamp set called Acorny Thank You.  The problem with this name is there is not such word as Acorny.  My auto correct wants to change it to Corny every time.  Then I finally realized I can add this word to my computer dictionary.  Genius!

Anyway, the acorn has a matching punch called Acorn Builder.  The greeting is from Guy Greetings (appropriate).  The great thing about that set is you have a choice to buy it in wood mount, clear mount or Photopolymer.  The wood grain look to the background is from a background stamp called Hardwood.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge WWC43

It is that time of the week for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This week we had a color challenge by Kath.  Kath used the 2014/2016 In Colors as our challenge.  I love these colors because they all go so well together.

November 18

Here is the card I made:

Acorny Thank You

I used the stamp set called Acorny Thank You.  I know.  I have used it a lot lately but it is that time of year.  You should see our driveway.  I have never seen so many acorns in all the years we have lived here.  Even the squirrels are leaving them because they probably have already collected enough to last a few years!  In any case, I love this set.  It has a matching punch and if you buy both in a bundle you can save 15%.  I added a little glimmer to the card using the Silver Cording Trim that is in the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  I also added a little silver heart from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.

The Designer Series Paper I used for the background is called Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The sheets are white and have and embossed look to them.  I used my markers to color the stripes in between the embossed lines.

This week’s Watercooler Challenge was given to us by Jackie.  It is a sketch challenge.  Here is what it looks like.

WWC41

Here is my card:

Acorny Thank You

I decided to use a stamp set from the Holiday Catalog called Acorny Thank You.  I just bought this set after seeing so many beautiful creations using it.  The thing I love about it is it has a matching punch and you can save 15% by purchasing both.  I used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the White Glitter Ribbon that is also in the catalog.  I love this ribbon because it has so much sparkle!
