Sitting Here

I made this card before I traveled to OnStage in Charlotte a couple of weeks ago. It turns out that all the stamp sets I used on this card are retiring!  That makes me sad because I like these sets and will miss them.  As reminder, if you like something that is going to retire, you need to order it sooner rather than later because once these things are gone, they are gone for good.

The porch swing, pillows, sentiment, and bird are are from the stamp set called Sitting Here.  I stamped the swing in Memento Black Ink and then colored it using the Soft Suede Light and Dark Blends. I then stamped it again onto a piece of Post-It Notes and covered it up before stamping the wall and floor. This way the swing would not have wall marks on it.   I used the stamp set called Hardwood.  I inked it with Crumb Cake ink but stamped off before stamping it onto the cardstock to make it a little lighter.  All that means is I stamped it first onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping it on the cardstock.

After doing that I stamped the pillows in Memento Black Ink and colored them with the Dark Granny Apple and Bermuda Bay Blends and cut them out.  I colored the sitting pad with the same colors and then adhered the pillows on top.  I stamped the sentiment and bird but still felt it needed something else.  I decided to use the door and door frame from At Home With You and colored the door using the Light Cajun Craze Blends and then going over it a few times with the Color Lifter to make it look more washed out.  I cut then cut the frame and door out with the matching dies called At Home Framelits. and adhered them to the card.

Sitting Here, Hardwood, At Home With You and the At Home Framelits are retiring. The good news with all of that is the Memento Ink and the Stampin’ Blends are not!  It is ok, though.  You are going to love the new catalog and all the wonderful products in it.  I can’t wait to show it to all of you!  If you would like a new catalog, you can come pick one up for free when I get them (probably Mid-May) or if you want me to mail you one, you just need to pay the cost of shipping.  In the meantime, enjoy the two catalogs we still have.  They are available until June 3rd!

Seaside Shore

When a new Stampin’ Up! catalog comes I tend to get so excited about the new merchandise that some of my older, but still current things get forgotten. I was searching for a set to use that hadn’t seen ink in a while and saw Seaside Shore sitting there so lonely on my shelf.  When this set came out I used it constantly.  I bet most of you got tired of seeing it all the time but how can you not like those cute little fish?!

I stamped the sentiment twice ~ once onto Marina Mist Cardstock and once onto Soft Sky.  Then I cut the middle section out using a dies from the At Home Framelits and put it over the Marina Mist sentiment with Dimensionals.

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Color Theory Paper Stack.  It is 6″ x 6″ and you get 48 sheets in the pack.  My favorite design is the Ombre look sheets,  I thought it went perfectly with the fish because it kink of looks like water.

At Home With You

The other day I was trying to make a card and it just wasn’t coming as planned.  I stamped this and stamped that.  I cut this and I cut that and nothing seemed to come out as I imagined.  This happens sometimes.  Well, this happens to me a lot.  I get an idea in my head and I just can’t put it on cardstock.  The good thing is that I usually keep all the pieces I have stamped and cut to see if I can use them another time.  The bad thing is I have a ton of cut images!

A couple of days later, I tried again.  I saw these cute little flowers I had cut out using the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  I thought I could make a wreath out of them so I started to look at my stamp sets that had a wreath included.  The first set I came across was At Home With You.  Of course it was first because I file my stamps alphabetically!

At Home With You is a new stamp set that it in the Annual Catalog.  It has matching Framelits called At Home (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  This set is so cute because there is a door stamp that you can cut the outline out plus it has another die where you can cut the door out on three sides so the door actually opens!  How cute is that?!?  I didn’t actually do that on this card but I could have.

This card uses the colors of my house and front door (Crumb Cake and Tranquil Tide).  The wood background is an new Dynamic Embossing Folder called Pinewood Planks.  Dynamic Embossing Folders are thicker and emboss a deeper image into the cardstock.
