Beautiful Autumn & A Sneak Peek

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our theme is thankful.  That certainly makes sense since yesterday was Thanksgiving!

Stampin Up Beautiful Autumn

I decide to go with the Beautiful Autumn stamp set since, in my mind, Autumn is over beginning December 1st.  To me, that is the official date of winter starting.  Now that I live in Tennessee, I will get to experience all the different seasons.  I am looking forward to that since in Northern New York we only had two seasons – Winter and July!

First, let’s explain the sneak peek!  See that beautiful Misty Moonlight Designer Series Paper?  It is a piece from the pack called Dandy Garden that will be in the January – June Mini 2021 Catalog.  That pack has some beautiful designs but this one was one of my favorites.  My Upline, Julia, sent me some samples of it (thanks, Julia!).  I wasn’t going to buy it but when I saw the samples, I put it on my list.

For the rest of the card, I used the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn.  This stamp set has three matching punches called Autumn Punch Pack (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle). I love the little leaves and I especially love being able to punch them out without fussy cutting them.  I first stamped the sentiment on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  I masked part of the sentiment off because it wouldn’t fit in the circle I wanted to use.  Masking is where you put a piece of Washi tape (or anything else sticky) over a section of a stamp, ink it up and then remove the tape before stamping.  It only stamps the part you didn’t cover.  I don’t know who discovered this technique but it is brilliant!  Then I cut out the sentiment using a die from the Painted Labels set.  I thought this die looked just like a wreath.

After that I stamped each of the leaves, pinecones and the acorn in Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I colored each one using a Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Terracotta Tile and Sahara Sand Stampin Write Marker.  Then I punched them out.  I did have to hand cut out the pinecones but they were easy because they are oval.  It was a fairly quick and easy card to make.

Now let’s go see how Buffy and Jackie expressed their thankfulness.

Gather Together

Stampin Up Gather Together

The last month or so I really wanted to purchase a pack of Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper   but it was out of stock for quite a while.  I blame Jackie for me wanting it so much.  She has been posting the most beautiful cards using this paper that I had to have it.  Buffy and Jackie continue to influence me with their beautiful designs so I am used to having to purchase things because of them.  In any case, I was able to purchase it a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad I did.  It is even prettier in person than in the catalog.

I decided to pair this paper with the stamp set called Gather Together.  This stamp set has coordinating dies called Gathered Leaves.  The stamp set has beautiful leaves, as well as pumpkins and sentiments.

To make this card I first cut a piece of Crushed Curry using the leaf die.  I kept the leaf for another project and decided to use the negative cut for this card.  I stamped the pumpkins on Pumpkin Pie cardstock using Memento Black Ink and cut them out using the dies.  The tiny leaves are from a new stamp set called Beautiful Autumn.  This set has three punches to go with it called Autumn Punch Pack (you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle).  I stamped the leaves on Rich Razzleberry cardstock and punched them out.  The sentiment is also from the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn.  I love the font as well as the sentiment.

Beautiful Autumn

Hello everyone.  Today BS & J Productions is having a sketch challenge today.  I love sketch challenges because whenever I am stuck making something I go look for a card sketch on Pinterest and use that to make a card.  Here is our sketch for today.

Here is my card:

Stampin Up Beautiful Autumn

So the first thing you will notice is I didn’t totally use the sketch on this card.  I tried to put a square of cardstock behind the wreath but it had to be fairly big and didn’t fit properly.  The best thing I love about doing challenges with Jackie and Buffy is you don’t always have to do exactly what is outlined so this time I took the liberty of not putting in the tilted square.

To make this card the first thing I did was cut a piece of Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper that is 2″ x 5.5″.  I backed this with a 2.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Garden Green cardstock and layered that on a Soft Sea Foam card base.  Then I cut two of the wreaths out in Garden Green cardstock using the Wreath Builder Dies from the 2020/2021 Stampin Up Annual Catalog and layered both of them on top of each other.

After that I used the stamp set that is in the new August – December 2020 Catalog (previously known as the Holiday Catalog) called Beautiful Autumn. I knew the second I saw it I had to get it because it goes so well with the Wreath Builder Dies.  This stamp set is part of the Gilded Autumn Suite and has a punch bundle called Autumn Punch Pack.  If you buy the punches and the stamp set in a Bundle, you can save 10%.  The suite also has Designer Series Paper, ribbon, Acorn Trinkets and gorgeous Brushed Metallic cardstock.

I stamped the Maple leaves using Cherry Cobbler Ink on Real Red cardstock, the Oak leaves using Bumblebee ink on Crushed Curry cardstock and the acorns using Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  Then I punched them out using the Acorn Punch Pack.  By they way, these punches also cut out shapes from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I also stamped the sentiment on Crumb Cake cardstock using Soft Suede Ink.

I left it that way for a bit but I kept coming back to it because I felt it needed something more.  I tried a ribbon but that didn’t look right because of the sentiment so I finally decided to add a few sequins from Sequins For Everything pack.  This set of sequins has more than 3,000 pieces in it!

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using this card sketch.  They probably followed the rules, although sometimes they don’t so who knows!
