Dandelion Wishes

Dandelion Wishes is another new stamp set that is in the 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It has these cute little dandelions that look like they are being blown in the wind.

When I was a kid my father would make me spend hours pulling dandelions out of the lawn.  Back then I think it was considered a sin to have them growing in your yard. I think people would drive by a lawn that had one dandelion in it and everyone would gasp with horror!

When Rob and I bought our first house I also spent hours pulling dandelions out of the lawn. I bought this awesome tool that would pull them out by the root when standing up. I was obsessed with it.  I wouldn’t even let my kids blown the dandelion seeds.  One day I looked around and noticed all our neighbor’s lawns and the park across the street were covered in dandelions.  There were thousands of dandelions.  There were more dandelions in their lawns then there was grass.  My father would be horrified but I realized then it was a losing proposition so I gave up and taught my kids how to blow the seeds around.  Ok.  I have to admit they could only do that in the park across the street.

I made this card using one of the sentiments from Dandelion Wishes.  I like this sentiment because it can be used as a birthday, get well, wedding or really any occasion.  I first stamped the sentiment in Versamark and then embossed it using Copper Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool.  Then I cut it out using the Layering Circle Dies.  I punched out the starburst from Copper Foil Paper using the Starburst Punch and adhered the sentiment to it.  Then I embossed a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder.  The ribbon from the Tea Room Ribbon Combo Pack.  Lastly I added some Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets that are in the Holiday Catalog.

Stitched All Around

I have to say I am just loving all the new Stampin’ Up! colors and stamp sets that are in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  It just seems like they all go so well together.

This card using a new stamp set called Stitched All Around.  It has a set of matching dies called Stitched Labels (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  The stamp set is fun and has some wonderful sentiments but the Framelits are really different and steal the show.  There are two dies that cut out a straight line.  One makes the little x’s on my card and the other cuts out little dots that look like you used a paper piercer but is so much easier.  Then there is a background die that makes a pattern.  The other seven dies in the set cut out the sentiments and all of them have stitching on them.  I think the one I used for the circle on this card is my favorite.

The colors I used on this card are Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macron, Whisper White and Grapefruit Grove (for the little heart).  I embossed the piece of Mint Macaron cardstock using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder.  This embossing folder is a 3D Dynamic Textured Impression Folder.  It embosses a deeper pattern into the cardstock.  It is thicker so you don’t use a bottom plate with your Big Shot.

The twine I used is from Nature’s Twine.  It is thicker than regular Baker’s twine and has a little waxy feeling to it.  It comes in four colors (Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, Grapefruit Grove and Crumb Cake).

To make this card I ran a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock through my Big Shot using the Sale-a-bration Embossing Folder called Basket Weave.  It is a Dynamic Embossing Folder so it makes a deeper impression than a regular one.  I stamped the word ‘celebrate’ with Calypso Coral ink and cut it out at an angle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  I cut out the word “you” in Smoky Slate using the Sale-a-bration Celebrate You Thinlits Dies.

Blossoming Basket

Blossoming Basket is part of a Bundle that is available to get for free with a qualifying order.  It comes with a gorgeous, new Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder called Basket Weave.  This is one of the folders that make a deeper impression in the cardstock than a normal Embossing Folder.  If you place a $100 order you can get both of these items for free during Sale-a-bration.

To make this card, I first stamped the basket in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I wanted to use my Stampin’ Blends which are alcohol based so you need to use a water-based ink so it doesn’t smear.  Memento is a water based ink.  Next I colored the roses using the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.  Then I added a little color around the outside of the petals using the Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.  When I was younger, my father was a terrific gardener.  He had the most beautiful gardens.  One of them was filled with beautiful roses.  His favorite (and mine) was a rose called Peace.  This rose had yellow petals with a pink around the edges.  I decided to fill the basket with Peace roses.

Next I colored the basket using the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Blends.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Beautiful Bouquet.

There is only three weeks left for Sale-a-bration where you can earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase, get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order) and/or join my Stampin Up! family and get a $125 worth of product for $99 PLUS your choice of TWO FREE STAMP SETS (an added value of up to $101)!!
