Best Of Sun Flowers

DSC01357

Sometimes when I make a card, I look at it for such a long time and just can’t figure out what is missing from it.  Originally I made this card without the splatters from Gorgeous Grunge and it just looked so plain.  The splatters certainly helped with it.

I made the sunflowers using the Best Of Flowers stamp set and my markers.  I used the Soft Suede Marker for the middle of each of the flowers and then used the Crushed Curry Marker for the petals.  The banner is from the Hostess Set called Banner Greetings that you can purchase for $8 with a qualifying workshop or customer order.

Can you see the diagonal stripes on the Soft Suede card stock?  That is an embossing folder called Stylish Stripes that is in the Holiday Catalog and available for purchase until January 2, 2014.  It reminds me of candy canes (which would make a fun Christmas card!).

The Best Of Flowers

The Best Of Flowers

The Best Of Flowers

For some reason I have been thinking about my Dad a lot lately.  Maybe it is because my Mom has been visiting for the last month and my sister came for a few days.  In any case, he used to grow the most beautiful roses.  His favorite of all time was called the Peace Rose.  It was a Coral colored rose but had yellow edges.

The rose stamp I used is from the Best Of Flowers Set.  Every month, Stampin Up! is coming out with a new “Best Of” set.  I think this one came out in March.  The Framelits are called Deco Labels and match the new Label Pop ‘N Cut insert which you shall see in the near future (hint).

Best Of Flowers & Chalk Talk

I made this very simple card using the daisy in Best of Flowers and one of the stamps in the new set called Chalk Talk.  Chalk Talk is great because it has a matching set of Framelits also called Chalk Talk and can be used to the Extra-Large Oval Punch (as I did).  The colors are Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana.

Best of Flowers Sympathy

Although I dislike making Sympathy Cards, I like to have some on hand just in case.  This became a Sympathy Card because I needed to use some kind of saying with it and the stamp set called Loving Thoughts seemed to work.  The first thing I did was take a flower stamp from the Best Of Flowers and ink with with Versamark.  Then I sprinkled White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  If you haven’t gotten the Stampin Up! Heat Tool, you should consider it.  It is so much quieter than my old one plus it has two settings – one for melting embossing powder and one for drying wet ink.  Love it!

Anyway, after I set the embossing powder I stamped the same set in Calypso Coral over the first set of flowers and then took a paper towel to wipe off the ink that was on the white flowers.  Ink does not dry on embossing powder so you would have mess if you didn’t wipe it off.

The card still looked a little plain so I sponged Calypso Coral Ink over everything.  I like the way it came out.

Best of Flowers For Challenges

I am not sure how this happened again but I decided to participate in two challenges again this week and managed to make one card to fit both.  I didn’t do it on purpose this time.  I just made one card for Freshly Made Sketches and then went to Create with Connie and Mary and the sketch fit both.  Here are the two sketches:

This time I used the Best of Flowers Stamp Set.  Stampin Up! is featuring one “Best Of” stamps a month during 2013 as part of their 25th anniversary.  I really like the Best of Flowers that was March’s set.  I used the “thumping” method on the Hydrangea.  This is where you color it with one color (I used Wisteria Wonder) and them ‘thump” another color over the top of the first color with a marker.  I used Elegant Eggplant for the second color.
