Bird Banter Waterfall Card

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It is a fun fold called Waterfall Card.  Honestly between you and me, I am not sure why it is called a Waterfall Card but it is certainly fun!  You pull the piece of Daffodil cardstock down and the layers start to flip up so you can see the layer below.

We used the stamp set called Bird Banter to make the Waterfall part.  It is an adorable set that is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  I know every is talking about the retirement list but the Occassion Catalog is still available until May 31st.  Bird Banter will not be in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog so I guess you could say it is retiring when the catalog ends.

The background for this card was made using the stamp set Sunshine Sayings.  Sunshine Sayings is being carried over into the next Annual Catalog.  We stamped the flowers in Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight.  The leaves were stamped in Emerald Envy which is an InColor that will also be retiring on May 31st.  We stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colors them with Stampin’ Blends (Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie).

If you would like instructions on how to make this card you can go to Splitcoast Stampers and look under the Tutorial Tab.  They have directions on just about any card style you can think of and is a great resource for all things stampin’!

Here are some more cards I made in the past using Bird Banter (just in case you needed more reasons to buy this set before it is going forever.!

Bird Banter Challenge

Hello everyone!  Welcomes to another BS & J Productions Stamp Off Challenge.  This challenge was brought to us by Jackie and it is a bird challenge.  Use any product that has birds in it.

Now there are a number of stamp sets I could use but my favorite bird set is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog and is called Bird Banter.  It has the cutest birds plus seven sentiments that go well with birds.

To make this card, I first stamped the birds, balloon and sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I use this black ink for two reasons.  One is that this stamp set is Photopolymer and the Memento Ink does not stain it as much as the Basic Black Archival Ink.  The second reason I used it is because I colored the birds using Stampin’ Blends.  Blends are alcohol based so you need to use an ink that is water based so it doesn’t smear when you color.

After I stamped the birds in Memento Ink, I stamped the branches in Emerald Envy.  Then I colored the birds  using Bermuda Bay (light and dark), Daffodil Delight (dark), Pool Party (light and dark) and Calypso Coral (light) Blends.  After I was done this I lightly sponged the background using Pool Party Ink.

By the way, this weekend I am on my way to a Stampin’ Up! OnStage event with my fellow Demonstrators.  I can’t wait to go.  These events are so much fun.  You get to meet other Demonstrators, learn about new products, get products for free, and my favorite thing, get the new 2018/2019 Annual Catalog in my hands!  These event are held all over the world.  Buffy and I are going to the same place so we get to hang out for the day!

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.  I will bet you a dime (I am such a big spender) that Jackie used the Bird Banter stamp set too because I know it is one of her favorites too!

Bird Banter

A couple of week ago Rob and I went to Vermont to see my sister.  The first morning I woke up I looked out the window and there were a ton of Cardinals in her tree.  I have never seen so many Cardinals in one place before and I counted at least 19 of them.  It was the most amazing thing and so beautiful.  Then I went downstairs and she had Blue Birds!  Rob and I have a couple of bird feeders out but all we get are little birds, Mourning Doves, big, giant, ugly Blue Jays and a lot of squirrels that we do our best to keep out of the feeders!

So, I asked my sister how she does it and she took me bird feeder and bird food shopping.  Blue Birds eat dried mealworms.  I do have to say they are disgusting to look at but I try not to think about that.  Cardinals like Black Oil Sunflower seeds.  Who knew different birds liked different food!  I came home armed to the teeth with all my new contraptions and bird food.  Two weeks have gone by.  Not a single Cardinal or Blue Bird to be seen!  Sigh.

I made this card using a new stamp set from the 2018 Occasions Catalog called Bird Banter.  I am not usually big on cute sets but I love this one.  It has a bunch of cute birds along with cute accessories to outfit the birds.  Even the saying are cute.  They are perfect to color using your Stampin’ Blends or Stampin’ Markers.  I know it is hard to see but I embossed the bottom of the card using the Celebration Duo.  Here is a close up of it:

Lastly, I added some of the Tutti-Fruitti Adhesive Backed Sequins.
