Christmas Quilt

I have a story to tell you.  When I was in 8th grade all the girls had to take the Homemaking Class.  This class was meant to teach us everything we needed to know to make a good wife.  Before you all go crazy, I find there is nothing wrong with this.  Back in the day, yes, that was what it was meant to be.  I think if they offered this course today (and maybe they still do) a lot of young girls and boys should take it.  They teach you to cook and sew which are not bad things to know (even today).  Of course, it would be better if they named the course something else like “How To Live On Your Own And Survive” and some of the boys might take the course.  My sons still do not know how to sew on a button.

Why am I telling you this?  Well the class was supposed to teach us how to sew.  We had to make a dress.  Our moms had to take us to the fabric store to buy the material, thread, buttons, zippers and pattern.  I picked out this simple pattern with cute fabric.  For the next 6 or 8 weeks I learned how to thread a sewing machine, put in a zipper, sew on a button, etc.  My dress came out gorgeous!  Every seam looked perfectly straight.  Every button was exactly where it was supposed to be.  I was meant to work at Simplicity Patterns!  Then I had to try it on.  It would have been gorgeous if one shoulder was just about 2 inches higher than the other.  It also would have helped in one knee was 3 inches lower than the other.  In other words, it would fix Quasimodo perfectly!  Unfortunately my knees and shoulders match.  All I can say it is a good thing I did the cooking section fairly well  because I did pass the course.

Anyway, for those who can not sew you can create awesome quilt patterns with the Christmas Quilt stamp set and matching Quilt Builder Framelits Dies.  Forget the sewing machine and just stamp!

Christmas Quilt

Christmas Quilt is a new stamp set that is in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  Even though the name has the word Christmas in it, it really doesn’t have to be used for the.  I made this birthday card for a friend of mine who is a quilter.  She makes the most gorgeous quilts.  Last year she made me two quilted Christmas stockings for Madelyn and Emory that were just beautiful.  I any case, I thought this card would be very appropriate for her.

Stampin’ Up! actually has a whole suite that goes with this stamp set.  Oh, wait.  I just noticed I didn’t even use the stamp set to make this card.  I only used the matching Framelits called Quilt Builder Framelits (if you buy both in a Bundle you can save 10%).  The suite includes the stamp set, Framelits,  Quilted Designer Series Paper, Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Quilted Christmas 1/4″ Ribbon and Stitched Felt Embellishments.  It is an amazing suite!  Even though I didn’t use all of these products, I will post the links to each below.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Birthday Banners.

Beautiful Bouquet

This is the third card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting last week.  I do need to say that my stamp ladies are the best!  They are such fun to get together with and we all get along really well.  It is such a great group!  I love them all!

We used the stamp set called Beautiful Bouquet to make this card.  This stamp set has matching Framelits called Bouquet Bunch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I know I say that a lot  but Stampin’ Up! really has a ton of stamp sets that do have matching dies and they always offer 10% off if you buy them together in a Bundle the first year they appear.  I probably own all of them!

The banner and sentiment are from the stamp set called Birthday Banners and the Framelits are called Bunch of Banners.

Birthday Banners Candles

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to make a card using the Ombre technique.

As you know the Stampin’ Up! 2017/2018 Annual Catalog starts on June 1st.  As a Demonstrator we were able to purchase a select variety of items from that catalog.  One of the items was ombre Designer Series Paper called Color Theory.  I decided that there was a good chance that Buffy and Jackie would use that Designer Series Paper so I decided to do something different.

I used the stamp set called Birthday Banners to make this card.  I know it is not exactly ombre but I thought it was close enough.  I stamped the candles using Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron.  Birthday Banners is a great set because it goes with so many other products.  It matches the Balloon Bouquet Punch and the Bunch Of Banners Framelits Dies.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  Do you think they used the new Designer Series Paper?  Wouldn’t it be funny if we all thought the same thing and no one used it at all?  No worries though.  You will see it soon enough!

Window Box

Yesterday I showed you how to make a box using the Window Box Thinlits Dies.  One great thing about Stampin’ Up! is their products are very versatile.  Today I used the same set of dies to make this card.  Check out my post tomorrow to see another card made with them.

To make this card, first I stamped Happy Birthday from the stamp set called Birthday Banners a few times in the top right corner.  I cut out the candles using one of the dies from Window Box and then backed the dies with colored cardstock (Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight).  Lastly, I stamped “Make A Wish” from the stamp set called Window Shopping.   I think the hardest part of making this card was stamping Happy Birthday over and over.

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is Friday ~ my favorite day of the week!  It is the day Buffy, Jackie and I participate in our Stamp Off Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge (which is also my favorite challenge).  I find sketch challenges the easiest because all you need to do it fit your stamps and paper into the sketch.

january-13

Here is my card:

High Tide, Birthday Banners, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I used a new stamp set called High Tide to make this card.  It is a set that is in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The lighthouse is a two step stamp.  This is when you stamp once with one stamp and then stamp again with another stamp over the first one.  It makes the image look kind of 3D.  The sentiment is from Birthday Banners which coordinates with the the Framelits called Bunch Of Banners.  The “water” is Designer Series Paper called By The Shore.

Now let’s go over to see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I always love to see how they interpret one of our challenges.

Happy Birthday Emily

Merriest Wishes, Seasonal Decorative Masks, Birthday Banners

Yesterday was my sister Emily’s birthday.  I don’t usually post on Sundays so I am posting a Happy Birthday message to her today.  This is not the card I sent her because I actually forgot to take a picture of the card I did send.  In any case, Emily is an amazing woman.  She is kind, thoughtful and dedicated.  She does a lot of things for other people.

I made this card using the Seasonal Decorative Masks for the background.  You can either use a sponge dauber or a regular sponge to do this.  I used Pool Party Ink on top of the Pool Party cardstock.  The medallion is from a set of Framelits called Merry Tags.  Merry Tags does have a matching stamp set called Merry Wishes and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The sentiment is from Birthday Banners which also has a matching set of Framelits called Bunch of Banners.

Happy Birthday, Emily.  I hope your day yesterday was awesome!

Moroccan Nights

Moroccan Nights, Birthday Banners

I have to say, the combination of Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point has now become one of my favorites.  For some reason I never put those two colors together in the past but you can be sure I will be using them in the future  A lot.  It is like they were made for each other!

The medallion on this card is from the stamp set called Moroccan Nights.  It is a really cute set that also has three different lanterns and a beautiful border stamp.  I actually got this stamp set at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event I went to in April.  It was an “all attendee” giveaway which is awesome because, well we all got one!  You can get free stamp sets too by becoming a demonstrator and going to these events.  They are a lot of fun and excitement.  If you are interested, let me know.  I can explain how everything works!

A Color Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is a color challenge.  I am not sure which one of use gave us this challenge but I guess it doesn’t really matter.  The colors we needed to use are Tangerine Tango, Bermuda Bay and Soft Sky.

47a6d820b3127cce98548a436a1000000010100AcN2Lhq3cOXGAI wasn’t too sure about the Tangerine Tango because it is not a color I usually use but it seems to work with the other two colors.  Here is my card for this challenge:

Painter's Palette, Birthday Banners, Banner For YouI was ready something that Jackie wrote, although this is probably not a direct quote, but somewhere after reading her blog, I got “swooshes, swooshes everywhere”.  I went back to her blog to try to figure out what she said exactly but couldn’t find it.  In any case, this swooshes everywhere made me want to make a card with swooshes everywhere!  I used the stamp set Painter’s Palette for all the swooshes.  The banner is from Banners For You and the sentiments are from Birthday Banners.  Both of those sets have matching Framelits called Bunch of Banners.  If you buy the Banners For You and the Bunch of Banners Framelits in a bundle you can save 10%.

Now let’s go check out what Jackie and Buffy made.  I bet you will love whatever their creations are because they are just awesome!
