Dandelion Wishes

Dandelion Wishes is a stamp set that is going to carry over to the new Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  It is such a fun stamp set that has three sentiments in an elegant font.

Dandelions bring back memories of making a wish and blowing the seeds away with my boys.  As a child, myself, it was deeply frowned upon to do this.  My father hated dandelions.  I think they might have even been illegal to have any in your lawn where I grew up.  I spent hours digging them out.  Now they say you should let them grow because they help the bees.

To make this card I first stamped the Dandelions, the blowing seeds and the sentiment in Smoky Slate ink onto Whisper White Cardstock.  Then I added the little hearts from Pocketful of Sunshine in Poppy Parade ink.  This stamp set is retiring on June 3rd.  Lastly I stamped the butterfly from the stamp set called Butterfly Gala in Poppy Parade ink and punched it out using the Butterfly Duet Punch.  If you order the Butterfly Gala stamp set and the Butterfly Duet Punch in a Bundle you can save 10%.  After June 3rd this discount will not be offered.

Goodbye Lemon Lime Twist

Hello everyone!  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use some or all of the retiring InColors.  These include Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist.  If you know me at all, you know I love Lemon Lime Twist.  Of everything that retired, this color retiring makes me the saddest.  I am hoping if and when Stampin’ Up!® does a color refresh, they bring it back because it is one of my all time favorite colors!

Another favorite product that will be retiring on June 3rd is the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  I love this DSP.  Plaids are back in style (at least with paper and stamps they are) and this DSP was really popular.

To make this card, I first adhered a piece of the Gingham Gala DSP onto a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  I cut out a Coastal Cabana hexagon and a smaller one out of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the sentiments from the stamp set called Sorry For Everything using Memento Black Ink.  This is a great stamp set for sympathy cards for people or pets as well as get well cards, belated birthday cards and farewell cards.  The smaller sentiments cover all those occasions.  Lastly, I stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Stazon Ink and colored with my Lemon Lime Twist and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Markers.  When using markers you need to use Stazon Ink so it doesn’t smear.  When using Blends, you would use Tuxedo Black ink for the same reason.

If you like Lemon Lime Twist cardstock or ink you will need to order before June 4th because if it has not sold out yet, it will be gone forever.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite retiring InColor(s) are.

Butterfly Gala

Butterfly Gala is a stamp set that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It has a matching Punch called Butterfly Duet Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle until June 3rd.  I never got a chance to use this set after I first ordered it.  Normally Stampin’ Up!® sells about 10,000 punches.  When this catalog came out, they sold twice that amount.  That was totally unexpected!  They had trouble getting it back in stock so it became un-orderable for a long time.  Thankfully it is back in stock now and it will be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog that comes out June 4th.  If you like it you need to take advantage of the 10% discount because when it goes in the new catalog it will not be offered as a Bundle.

To make this card, I inked up the large butterfly only and stamped it a few times using Memento Black Ink.  Then I inked up the small butterfly only and stamped that.  The butterflies are actually attached to each other which makes it easier to punch out but I wanted to stamp them randomly around so I only did one at a time.  You can mask off the butterfly you are not using or you can just ink carefully.  I masked.  I thought it needed something more so I added the flower stamp from Bloom By Bloom.  This stamp set will be retiring on June 3rd. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  Then I stamped one more butterfly and colored it using my Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue Stampin’  Write Markers. Then I punched it out and adhered it to the card.

Sale-a-bration Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets

I made these cards using the Grapefruit Grove & Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets that are in the 2019 Sale-a-bration Catalog.  You can get these gorgeous sheets free with a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration.  I know it is hard to tell from a photograph but these foil sheets are so beautiful.  The Grapefruit Grove sheets change color with the lights and the Lovely Lipstick sheets have a beautiful shine to them.

To make these cards I just layered a piece from the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper that is in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog over the Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheet.  This paper comes in big sheets but they have borders around each design so they are easy to cut out.  To adhere them to the Foil Sheets I used the Multipurpose Glue.  That is the best adhesive when it comes to any of our Foil Sheets.

To make the card on the left, I used a sentiment from the stamp set called Incredible Like You.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  I used the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack to cut out the flower and leaves.  The flower was punched out of the Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets.  The leaves were punched out of Silver Foil Sheets that I colored green using my Call Me Clover Stamping Blends.  I love those Blends because you can color so many things.

To make the card on the right I cut out the word Celebrate from the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies from Basic Black cardstock.  I punched out the butterfly using the Butterfly Duet Punch out of the Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets.

Don’t forget these beautiful Foil Sheets are only available during Sale-a-bration and are while supplies last.

Butterfly Gala

Now don’t go checking to make sure you are really on Susan’s blog!  I know what some of you are thinking.  This can not be my blog.  Susan doesn’t like butterflies.  Well, the stamp set called Butterfly Gala and the matching Butterfly Duet Punch changed my mind.  That and I decided I needed to get over my butterfly trauma. It happened five years ago.  Time to let go.

For those that don’t know I will tell you the butterfly story quickly without all the details.  My son was getting married and we were looking for a place to have the rehearsal dinner.  After finally talking him out of having food trucks come to a park with no bathrooms, he suggested we go look at a butterfly garden that was in the area.  I imagined these beautiful gardens with butterflies flitting all over while landing on the flowers and it just being lovely.  I could not have been more wrong.  It was in a hot house and there were hundreds if not thousands of butterflies all over the place.  They landed on me.  They got stuck in my hair. It was a horror show!  They even had to blow you off before you could leave in case one of the butterflies decided to try to escape their jail.  Needless to say, we did not have the rehearsal dinner there!  Ever since I have not liked butterflies.

Anyway, Butterfly Gala and the Butterfly Duet Punch are in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  If you purchase them in a Bundle you can save 10%.  They are both part of a Suite called Gingham Gala.  The Designer Series Paper I used is part of it too.  As all the other Suites in this catalog, there are also embellishments and ribbon to go with everything.

To make this card, I first added the Gorgeous Grape lines to the Coastal Cabana Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper.  I saw this technique used a lot when the Buffalo Check stamp came out so I decided to try it with this paper.  I really like how it turned out.  To keep the lines straight I used a T ruler.  You can get those just about anywhere (including Amazon).  They allow you to draw a straight line much easier than using a regular ruler.

Then I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink and cut it out using a die from Stitched Shapes.  I stamped the butterflies in Gorgeous Grape and colored them with my Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker. I adhered them by just putting a strip fo Multipurpose glue down the middle fo the butterfly so I could bend the wings up a little giving it a 3D look.

What else is great?  If you buy the Butterfly Gala Bundle, the Gingham Designer Series Paper and a pack of the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins you will be able to purchase something from the Sale-a-bration Catalog.  This catalog has Designer Series Paper that matches the Butterfly Gala Bundle in it.  You can even punch out some of the butterflies in the paper using the punch.  Awesome!

EDITED:  Unfortunately the Butterfly Builder Punch is un-orderable at this time.  Stampin’ Up!® usually sells about 12,000 punches of one kind and they sold so quickly and so many that they ran out.  They decided to turn it off rather than experience a ton of backorders.  The good news is this will be carrying over in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog so it will be back.  They will turn it back on when they receive more.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
