Piece Of Cake

Today is a very special day.  I am actually celebrating the birthday of two people who are very special to me.  One is my first grandchild, Madelyn.  Madelyn is five years old today!!  Can you believe that??  I just don’t know how this happened.  It doesn’t seem possible to have her be that old.  It is true what they say.  Time does fly!

Doesn’t she look so grown up now?  Of course, I am her grandmother so I can be truthful here.  Not only is Madelyn beautiful, she is smart, sweet, and just all around amazing!  I am sad we can not spend her birthday together due to the world situation right now but hopefully we can go visit her very soon.

Today is also my friend, Karin’s birthday.  Karin is a friend and a downline.  Although I don’t have a photo of her, she is also beautiful, smart and sweet!  She is just a wee bit older than Madelyn but just as amazing.  The card I am showing you today is the card I sent to Karin.

The colors I used to make this card are Terracotta Tile, Petal Pink and Whisper White.  I first stamped the cake in Memento Black ink and colored it using Terracotta Tile and Petal Pink Stampin’  Write Markers.  I also stamped the cake stand in Memento Black ink on Terracotta Tile cardstock and then punched out both images using the Cake Builder Punch.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Birthday Bonanza and is in the 2020 January- June Mini Catalog.

Happy birthday Madelyn and Karin.  I hope you both have the best day!

Piece Of Cake

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting during April.  I love this card because it is so bright and cheery.  We used the stamp set called Piece Of Cake.  This stamp set has a matching punch called Cake Builder and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The sentiment came from another stamp set called Amazing Life.  The Designer Series Paper is called How Sweet It Is.  All of these products are in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.

To make this card I first stamped the cake in Memento Black Ink and then colored it with my Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch and Bermuda Bay Stampin’  Blends.  Then I punched out the cake and the stand (in Pineapple Punch cardstock) using the Cake Builder Punch.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink and colored the word cake using my Pineapple Punch Blends.  Lastly I added the sequin from the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins.

I told you I had been traveling a lot during the month of April.  The first weekend I flew down to Montgomery Alabama to visit my son, Zachary and his daughter Emory (Emy).  Mary, his wife, was away so I had the job of watching Emy while Zachary was at work.  It was a tough job but someone had to do it and it was awesome!  We had such a good time.  The last time I saw her was at Christmas.  It amazes me how much she has grown in a few months.  She went from saying one or two words at a time to speaking full sentences.  Of course, she is two so most of her sentences start with the word no!

Here are some pictures.

Isn’t she just adorable?  (I know.  I am a little prejudice!!)!!

Piece Of Cake

After a long hiatus, Stampin’ Up! finally has the Cake Builder Punch back in stock.  I made this card months ago thinking I could post it but the punch was so popular that it ran out of stock quickly so I decided to wait before posting it.  I am so glad it is back.  I love this punch and the matching stamp set called Piece Of Cake and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Both of these items are in the 2019 Occasions Catalog and I am happy to say they are going to be carried over into the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  Ok, I have to stop right there for a moment. Can you believe it is going to 2020 next year??  It is kind of crazy how fast time really does go!

In any case, to make this card I first stamped the middle cake and cake stand onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then cut it out using the Layering Ovals Dies.   I layered that onto another piece I cut out using the same dies (only a bigger size) out of Pool Party cardstock.  I colored those using my Pool Party and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends.  Then I stamped the two other cakes, punched them out using the Cake Builder Punch, colored them with my Blends and adhered them to the oval using Dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a die from Bunch Of Banners Framelits.

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Gingham Gala.
