More Christmas Swaps

This card I got from another demonstrator named Christine Guida who lives in New Hampshire.  I am not sure if you can tell up close but the snowflake background and the snow on the roof of the house are full of sparkles.  The sleigh is embossed in Cherry Cobbler.  The card has such a softness to it.  Beautiful!

The next swap I got was made by Stephanie Osgood.  Stephanie used the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set with Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.  I love that it uses different colors than the usual red and green.  Very pretty!

There Is A Difference

Last month I showed you a card that I made for a Christmas swap I was participating in.  It used the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set.  I had mentioned in that post about the differences in embossing powder.

I often talk about the quality of Stampin Up products and I truly believe there is a difference between companies.  I wanted to show you the difference even in something little like embossing powder.

The first picture I am going to show you was embossed using a different company’s gold embossing powder.  I stamped Peace in Versamark and then dumped almost the whole container of powder over the stamp.  I did it this way so that I was sure to get enough powder on the stamp.  I then used the new Stampin Up Heat Gun to heat up the powder.  Here is a close up picture of the other company’s powder.

Embossed with Other Company’s Powder

You can clearly see in this picture that the embossing looks pebbly or bumpy.

The next picture shows the same stamp with Stampin Up Embossing Powder.  I used the same Versamark pad and dumped practically the entire jar of the powder over the stamp.

There is clearly a difference.  Stampin Up’s powder is smooth and thicker looking.  It is a much nicer result.  Which would you rather use?

More Christmas Swaps

The first card was made by Marsha Reed.  Marsha used the stamp set First Christmas from the Holiday Catalog.  She embossed the star with silver embossing powder.  Isn’t this beautiful?

The next amazing card was made by Margaret Brunier.  It is stunning.  Margaret is wonderful at cutting things out (unlike me!).  It has beautiful details.  Margaret used the stamp set Watercolor Winter from the Holiday Catalog.  She also used the Tulle Ribbon, which I had not seen in person yet.  I knew I should have ordered some.  It is beautiful.

More Christmas Swaps

Here is another holiday swap from Kath who lives in Utah.  She used the stamp set from the holiday catalog called Heart of Christmas.  This set would also be perfect for the inside of your Christmas card.  Kath embossed the stamp set with White Embossing Powder.  It is hard to tell from the picture but Kath used Shimmer Paint on the background.

Kath Ricks Swap

Here is another card I received from Jackie Susnik.  Jackie used the stamp set from the Holiday Catalog called Scentsational Season.  Jackie said that Kath Ricks showed her how to use the Full Heart Punch to make the ends of the banner perfect every time.  What a terrific idea!  I will be posting how to do this on another day.

Christmas Swaps

As I mentioned before I participated in a Holiday Swap with a group of very talented ladies. I showed you my swap HERE.

This is a swap I received from the very talented Diane Oliver.  Diane is from Michigan and makes really beautiful cards.  She used the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set.

Swap From Diane Oliver

This next swap is from Linda Wicks.  Linda used the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set and More Merry Messages.  I love how she made the bow from hearts and a circle from the Owl Punch.  Very cute and clever!
