Whimsical Trees

Stampin Up Whimsical Trees

The things that help me make a decision on what I buy for crafting supplies are (1) if it catches my eye immediately, (2) I can come up with at least 5 ways to use it, and (3) I can mix and match it with other products.  The Whimsical Trees Bundle had all three of these requirements.  It immediately caught my eye as something I did not have before.  It can be used for Christmas as well as other occasions.  Trees can be used for year round.  It has a lot of Christmas images but one of the trees looks like it has lights on it or it could be snow.  I love the sentiments in this set because they are different.  The bad thing about this bundle is it is going to retire on January 3rd.

I decided to pair the Whimsical Trees bundle with the Stitched Greenery die for this card.  I love a little sparkle so I die cut a piece of the Silver Foil Specialty Pack for the background using that die.  I love how that die cuts little lines in the card stock but doesn’t cut anything out.  I also cut out the stars to go on top of the trees in the Silver Foil.

Then I stamped out the trees in Shaded Spruce ink and cut them out using the coordinating Christmas Trees Dies.  I layered them on top of a piece of Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper using Seal and Dimensionals.  This DSP has silver throughout many of the sheets.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder on it and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

I think this is such a sweet Christmas card with a lot of sparkle and shine.  What could be better?

Remember that the Whimsical Tree stamp set, the coordinating Christmas Trees Dies and the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper are all retiring on January 3rd.  They are available while supplies last.

Stampin Up Whimsical Trees

The new Whimsy & Wonder Suite in the Stampin’ Up!® 2022 July – December Mini Catalog is such a fun suite of products.  It includes the stamp set called Whimsical Trees, the coordinating dies called Christmas Trees, Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper, Blushing Bride 3/8″ Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon and Wonderful Snowflakes (which are iridescent foil).  This suite was the first one that really caught my eye when I looked at the catalog because it was different and fun.

To make this card I first stamped the white tree using Soft Succulent ink and the lights (or ornaments) in Misty Moonlight.  The I cut it out using the coordinating die.   I cut out the rest of the tree in Evening Evergreen and Misty Moonlight and the garland in Soft Succulent card stock.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Best Wishes.

Rob and I had an exciting weekend last week.  Rob is a sailor but he sold his sailboat when we bought the cottage.  There is only so many days in the summer and it was hard to find time to do it all.  This year he decided he wanted to get a little sailboat that he can just keep at the dock and go out when he wanted to.  We put it in the water last weekend and set off in our maiden voyage.  We just went across the bay when a big gust of wind came and our sailboat capsized.  We were thrown into the water.  Rob and I are both good swimmers so we were ok.  Thankfully our neighbors saw the whole thing and came out to help.  The only really bad thing that  happened was I lost my prescription sunglasses in the lake. He wants to go again but I am not so sure!

Whimsical Trees Sneak Peek

Stampin Up Whimsical Trees

This is a sneak peek of a new Suite that that is in the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog called Whimsy & Wonder.  This suite includes the stamp set called Whimsical Trees, coordinating dies called Christmas Trees (and you can save10% by purchasing them in a bundle), Blushing Bridge 3/8″ Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon, Wonderful Snowflakes (which are iridescent) and Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper.  I loved this Suite as soon as I saw it and knew it would be on my list.  This catalog will be available to order from beginning August 2nd to all customers. As a Demonstrator I was able to purchase it early (a great perk of becoming a demonstrator).

I used another new product in the Mini Catalog called Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper is Basic Black, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Basic White and is really beautiful in person.  I used this paper to make a night scene on my card.  On a side note, after I made this card my husband, Rob saw it and said “I hate that card!”.  I asked him why and he said it was dark, depressing and asked me if I was going Goth!  I said it is a night scene! There are shiny silver stars in the background!  He liked it better after that <insert eye roll>.  Here is a close up of the silver starry background.  It does sparkle win the light.

To make this card I first cut out the background piece from the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper and then the trees using the Christmas Trees Dies.  Then I cut out the ribbon and the stars using another sneak peek called Silver Foil Specialty Paper.  This paper comes in three different “colors”.  There is a bright shiny silver that I used, a matte finish silver and a brushed finished silver. I layered all of those together onto a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic Gray card stock and a Smoky Slate card base.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Poinsettia Petals in Versamark and then heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder.  I adhered that using Stampin Dimensionals.

So what do you think?  Pretty or dark and depressing?  Let me know in the comments.  By the way, I can not link and of these new products below because they are not available to the public yet.
