Happy Thanksgiving

I am truly grateful for so much in my life – my family, my friends, our health and all that I have.

William Arthur Ward said “feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it” or in my case like making a card and not sending it.  So go make a card and send it to someone to show your gratitude for having them in your life.  They will love it and know that you are grateful for them.

May you always have someone and something to be grateful for.  Just don’t forget to express it once in a while.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wild About Flowers

Wild About Flowers, Endless Birthday Wishes

The 2015 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog is awesome this year.  It has stamps for every taste.  There are vintage stamps, modern stamps, flowers (of course), lots of sentiments and so much more.

The first time I saw Wild About Flowers I knew I had to get it.  When I was young, my grandparents lived in Manchester, Vermont.  It was not the Manchester it is today.  It was a small rural town where the only place to eat was the Bluebird Diner.  It had a wonderful bakery that made these toffee cookies that were to die for!  Now, it has a ton of outlet stores and is crazy busy.

My grandparents house was on a long dirt road and on either side of the road were big fields full of wild flowers.  We would walk down to their pond to go swimming and pick wild flowers on our way back to the house to give to my grandmother.  I am sure most of them were weed but she would put them in a vase anyway.

Wild About Flowers is a two step stamp set made out of Photopolymer.  That makes it so easy to line up the stamps.  Plus, the pictures are numbered so you know which flower goes with which stem.  It makes it so easy.

Here is a picture of my son, Sam, taking a nap with his girls on his first Father’s Day!

Watercooler Challenge WCC27

Banner1

It is that time again for another Watercooler Challenge!  This time Jackie gave us an Iris Fold Challenge.  I have to admit, this was a hard one for me.  I haven’t ever done an Iris Fold so first I had to try to figure out how to do it from the picture she gave us and then design something.

Awesomely Artistic

I am not sure I got it quite right but you get the idea.  I decided to use a new stamp set called Awesomely Artistic.  I actually bought this set for the dragonfly because I thought it was cute.  The sentiment is from the new stamp set called Tin Of Cards.  This set actually goes with an adorable kit where you decorate a tin to store cards in.  I just liked the sentiments so I use the set without the kit too!

If you would like to see the other Watercooler creations click HERE (they will post at 7:30 MT).  We would love for you to play along.  Make an Iris Fold card and post it to that web site and maybe you will will a Watercooler Artist Winner badge!

My Paper Pumpkin

My Paper PumpkinMy Paper Pumpkin

This month’s (June’s) My Paper Pumpkin Kit is just adorable!  I received the kit in the mail yesterday.  I looked at the picture and really like it so I decided to go make one right away.  Actually it is a set of 2 cards (4 of each).  You get everything you need to put this card together (except clear blocks).  It includes the stamps, ink, adhesive and envelopes.  Each envelope has an Designer Series Paper insert which really adds to the whole thing.  Honestly, I remember when My Paper Pumpkin kits first came out.  They were not the best.  After listening to all the demos and customers talk about these kits, Stampin’ Up! has really raised the bar.  If you haven’t tried a kit, you should.  You might just like it!  You can order the kits HERE.  They are available to order as one month, three months, six months or a year.

A Simple Birthday Card

Tin Of Cards

I made this very simple birthday card in about 5 minutes.  I had already cut the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper for a card I used a couple of days ago (it was the Zoo Babies card I posted on the 20th).  I used a new stamp set called Tin Of Cards for the sentiment.  This set actually goes with a very cute kit but you have to buy the stamps that go with it separately.  I haven’t purchased the kit yet (and I will because it really is cute and would be perfect for my mother) but I loved the fonts on the stamp set so I bought those.  The set actually has 20 different stamps, one of which includes the little cross border you see on this card.    It is a great set for every day use.

Here is Madelyn at 7 weeks.  I don’t know who is Madelyn’s hairdresser but it looks like the same one they use for Waffles!!

Another You’ve Got This

You've Got This

A couple of weeks ago I showed you a card that we made at our monthly club meeting using the stamp set called You’ve Got This and Vellum.  We embossed the vellum with white embossing powder and then “colored” behind it with markers.  This time, I used markers to color the flower and leaves right on the card stock.  When using markers, you need to stamp with Stazon so it won’t bleed.  The trick to remember this is, if you used a water based product such as markers to color with, you need to stamp the outline in an non-water based ink such as Stazon.  If you color with a alcohol base product, such as our retired Blendabilities or Copics, you need to stamp the outline in a water based ink such as our Memento Ink.  Just do the opposite of each other and you will be fine!

Gift From The Garden

Gift From The Garden

Gift From The Garden is a new stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It is so cute!  Not only does it have the watering can and flower pots, the set also includes some cute rubber boots, gardening gloves, a trowel and a couple of sentiments.  It also comes in your choice of wood mount or clear mount rubber. I think I like this set because it is the closet I will come to ever growing a garden around here.  Although I love our trees, there are just too many of them and we don’t get a lot of sun!

The water drops are from the Sprinkles Of Life stamp set (the new Ronald McDonald Charity House set).

Zachary’s Father’s Day Card

2015-06-21 11.02.22

This morning my son, Zachary, went down to my stamp room and made this card for his Dad for Father’s Day.  He used a sailboat die that I happen to own.  I know it is not Stampin’ Up! but when you have a family full of sailors you need to find something to use.  He did use Sea Street for the fish, flags, line and anchor.  The inside of the card used a the Happy Father’s Day stamp from Guy Greeting.  I thought he did pretty well.  Of course, my stamp room is a mess, but that is ok.  It is worth the clean up!

Zoo Babies

Zoo Babies

I just love this Zoo Babies stamp set that is in the Annual Catalog.  Although it is not new this year, I still love using it.  It might have something to do with Madelyn coming into my life, but all of a sudden I am noticing more baby things.

The Designer Series Paper I used for this card is new.  It is called Cherry On Top and comes in a 6″ x 6″ pad.  I love this new size of DSP.  Stampin’ Up! now offers three different pads of DSP in this size.  They still offer the traditional 12″ x 12″ in a lot of different patterns too.  It is a great way to add some color and texture to your cards.

Apparently Miss Madelyn has not been very cooperative with her mommy lately.  She is going through that crying stage where nothing seems to make her happy.  Thankfully she is getting better at night so at least mommy can get some rest.

Awesomely Artistic

Awesomely Artistic

This is a brand new stamp set that is in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It is called Awesomely Artistic. This set comes in Wood Mount or Clear Mount.  Honestly, it is not a set I would usually get (because I am not very good at vintage) but it has the cutest Dragonfly included with it.  Most of you know I am not a butterfly fan but for some reason I like Dragonflies.  Go figure!  The set of Framelits called Project Life Cards & Labels have a Framelit that goes with this set.  You can see I used it in this card.  The “thanks” is from another new stamp set called Tin Of Cards.  That set has a bunch of great sentiments included with it.

I got to visit Madelyn last weekend and was able to take some new pictures so I thought I would share one since you haven’t seen many lately.
