Dragonfly Dreams

I love making cards that are monochromatic but then add a pop of color to it.   I used the stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams to make this card.  This stamp set has matching dies called Detailed Dragonflies.  Both of them are in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.

To make this card, I first stamped the dragonfly in random places using Basic Gray.  Then I cut the top piece of the dragonfly from Coastal Cabana cardstock and the bottom piece from Blueberry Bliss cardstock and adhered them together.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays in Blueberry Bliss ink.  This stamp set is a must have from the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  There are sixteen stamps in the set all with the birthday theme.  I cut the sentiment out using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits dies (of course!).

Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonflies are one of those bugs that no one seems to mind if they are around.  As I was beginning to write this blog post, I realized that I haven’t seen any dragonflies at our cottage.  That is kind of weird since they like to hang out around water.  I’ll have to do a little research and find out why.

Edited:  Well, Dragonflies do live near the water.  They actually start their lives in the water.  Adult dragonflies usually only live a month but some species live up to six months.  They eat mosquitoes (which is why we all love them).  If you want to find out more about them you can click HERE.  I still don’t know why there aren’t any around here but that is research for another day!

I made this card using the stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams.  It has a set of matching Thinlits called Detailed Dragonfly.  Unfortunately, this set was released in a prior year so there is no Bundle Bonus.  In case you were wondering, Stampin’ Up! offers Bundles on matching stamp sets and dies the first year they are out.  After that, they are only sold separately.  If you like a Bundle, buy it before you are not able to.

One of my favorite this about this set is the cute little Dragonfly die I used above.  All those dragonflies are attached together with one die.   They are adorable, aren’t they?  I cut these out using Silver Foil Paper. I thought it added a nice little sparkle to the card.

Helping Me Grow & Dragonfly Dreams

I decided to make a card out of my comfort zone.  I am not very good at coloring but I felt like I should try.  I decided to use the Stampin’ Write Markers (Delightful Dijon and Old Olive) instead of the new Watercolor Pencils because, well, the Watercolor Pencils have sold out and Stampin’ Up! has ordered more but they aren’t in yet.  They were so popular!  (I’ll let you know when they are back in stock).

The flowers are from the stamp set called Helping Me Grow.  I am sad to say that this set will be retired at the end of May (so if you like it, you need to order it soon).  It is a perfect set to color.  After I stamped and colored the flowers I happen to glance at the stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams and saw the bee so I had to use it.  Bees and flowers just go together.  The sentiment is from a past Paper Pumpkin Kit (one of the many reasons to love Paper Pumpkin).

I made this card for a color challenge I wanted to participate in but didn’t.  It was during my stressful and hectic December when things just got away from me.  I am back on track now so I’ll be posting some of the cards I made a while ago but never got around to sharing them.

I made this card using  stamp set from the Occasions Catalog called Dragonfly Dreams.  This stamp set has some matching Thinlits called Detailed Dragonfly and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

The colors I used for this card are Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron.  As you know, I am not big on pinks and purples but at the same time I made a vow to use my Designer Series Paper more and actually liked these colors and thought they go pretty well together.

Dragonfly Wishes

Dragonfly Dreams, Detailed Dragonfly, Fabulous Foil Acetate, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

As you can probably tell, I love the new dragonfly stamps and dies.  They are both in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The stamps are called Dragonfly Dreams and the dies are called Detailed Dragonfly.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I have made (and shared) a bunch of cards using them.  Each one is very different because each of the dies are different.

I made this card using the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate.  This has been in the Annual Catalog since June and I am just discovering it.  One side is gold and one side is silver so you don’t have to buy two packages to get both colors.  I also just discovered that there is a thin piece of plastic over the acetate to help keep it from scratching so you need to peel that off when you use it.

Be warned.  There will be a lot more cards using all of these items in the future!

Dragonfly Dreams Sneak Peek

Dragonfly Dreams, Stampin Up, 207 Occasions Catalog, susanstamps.wordpress.com

One of my favorite things about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is I get to see the new catalogs that are coming out before customers.  What is even better is I get to see them before some Demonstrators because I attended OnStage Local this year.  OnStage and OnStage Local are events that Stampin’ Up! holds for their Demonstrators.  There is on held in April and November every year.  In April you get the new Annual Catalog and in November you get a copy of the next Occasions and Sale-a-bration Catalogs.

You can also win product at these events.  I won a new stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams.  It has dragonflies and bees along with some sentiments.  It also has a matching set of dies called Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  I did not win the matching Thinlits so I didn’t use them in this card, but I do have to say, it has this one die in it that is just adorable.  It is a die with multiple dragonflies all attached.  It is definitely on my list to purchase.

Speaking of purchasing, as a Demonstrator I also get to order products early.  The 2017 Occasions Catalog starts in January but I can order on December 1st!  I can’t wait!

If you are interested in joining me at one of these events then just click on the Join Now button to the right.  You get to pick $125 worth of products for just $99 (plus tax)  Shipping is free with your start up kit!  There is no obligation and you don’t have to buy another thing, but I know you will want to!

Today is your last chance to get these amazing stamp sets at 25%!!  Don’t miss out!
