Embellished Events

DSC01364

I know it is the end of September but I am having a hard time giving up spring and summer this year.  I apologize ahead of time if you have given it up long ago.  Maybe when the first snow hits (oh please not for a while yet), I will be ready.

I made this card using Embellished Events.  It is the set I always recommend to a new stamper because it has a stamp for everything in it.  You can use it for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, baby showers, New Year’s and just a plain thinking of you card.  If you look really closely you can see I put a tiny pearl in the center of each flower.  Now, let me tell you.  I love Stampin Up! Basic Pearls.  They come in four different sizes and I used the smallest.  They were not the easiest thing to use until I figured out that if I picked them up with my paper snips, I could pop them right on the card.  Why didn’t I think of this before??

Pocket Card With My Digital Studio

DSC01350

Sometimes you just don’t have a stamp set that meets your needs.  To make a very long story short, when one of my kids has a birthday, I always call them and say “it’s your birthday”.  Some rapper used to sing a song that kept saying that over and over so now I drive my kids crazy with it.  It is one of those “you have to be there” stories to understand.  Sometimes it is ok to drive your kids crazy.

Stampin Up! does not make a stamp that says “it’s your birthday” so I used My Digital Studio to make my own.  It was so easy to do.  I just had to type it, change the color to Gumball Green and print it.  I even had a digital download of the Chevron Border Punch which I added to the bottom.

When you pull on the ribbon, this is what the inside of the card looks like:

The cake is from the stamp set called Make a Wish and the celebrate is from Embellished Events.

File Folder Card With Envelope Punch Board

DSC01353

Patty Bennett, another Stampin Up demonstrator came up with another idea for the Envelope Punch Board.  I think this “gadget” has to be one of my favorite things that has come out in a while.  It makes great envelopes but also can add fun things to a card.

I made this “file folder” card using the Envelope Punch Board.  Can you see how the two layers look like a file folder?  It was very easy to do.  You just put one edge of the card stock into the Envelope Punch Board and punch it.  Then move the card stock over a couple of inches and punch it again.  Take your Stampin Trimmer and cut off the extra. Then just repeat on the other side of the card stock.

The Designer Series Paper I used for this card is in the Holiday Catalog and is called Winter Frost.  The happy birthday stamp is from Delightful Dozen and the celebrate stamp is from Embellished Events.

Chevron Border Punch Masculine Card

DSC01263

This was one of the cards we made for our Club meeting this month.  It uses the new Chevron Border Punch that is in the Holiday Catalog.  I have three boys, well I should call them men since they are all grown up but they will always be my boys (sorry boys!).  I am always looking for a masculine card to give them for their birthday.  I thought this new punch would make a great masculine card.  I used Embellished Events for the cake and the sentiment.  The oval in the banner was cut out using our Oval Collections Framelits and the cake stamp is behind the banner so it gives it a little depth.

For Mojo Monday’s Challenge #301, I used the stamp set called Embellished Events.  This is a great set for beginner stampers because it has a little of everything.  You can use it for birthdays, thank you cards, weddings, Christmas and Baby cards.  It has pictures as well as words so it is very versatile.   I colored the cake using markers and then cut it out with the Oval Collection Framelits.  The Designer Series Paper is Quatrefancy Specialty Paper.   The colors of the card are Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight.  I liked adding the Daffodil Delight because it gave it a little pop of color.  Here is the Mojo Monday sketch:

Believe it or not, there are less than 3 months until the launch of the new 2013/2014 Stampin Up! catalog.  I know that seems like a lot of time, but it is enough time to get everything on your wishlist?  I have been concentrating on showing you samples made with stamps from the Occasions Catalog but for the next couple of  months I am going to re-visit some stamp sets that haven’t had a lot of ink lately.

The first set is called By The Seashore.  I love this set because I spent a lot of time at the beach in Florida when I was growing up (actually I still go there for vacation!).  I stamped the background with En Francais which is a great background stamp.  The sentiment is from Embellished Events.

Embellished Events Baby Card

I  made this baby card using the Embellished Events Stamp Set.  This set is a great set to have on hand because it has just about everything you need to make a card for any occasion.  It can be used for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, baby cards and anniversary cards.  If you are a new stamper and don’t know where to start, this is the set I would recommend purchasing.

In addition to the Embellished Events set, I also used the set called Lovely Little Labels with the Little Labels Punch Pack.  I think they are the cutest little stamps and punches.

Saying Goodbye to 2012

Today is the last day of 2012.  It was a great year, although nothing is going to top 2013!  My middle son is getting married and Rob has lots of exciting things going on in his life this year.  It should be a lot of fun but exhausting.

So here is to a great 2013!

Stamp-A-Stack Class For Beginners

This week I held a Stamp-a-stack class for beginner stampers.  I think everyone had a good time and learned a few things about stamping.

One card we made was a design I made at Leadership last year.  I changed it a bit but for the most part it is the same.  We used Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, the Blossom Punch and the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.
