A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

This week Buffy, Jackie and I have a sketch off challenge.  It was a collaboration between Jackie and me.  She found a design and I tweaked it.

Here is my card:

I am still on my quest to use my Designer Series Paper.  I’ve told you before.  I am a hoarder.  It just seems so hard to cut that first piece.  I don’t know why but this year I vowed to use it more often.  So far I am doing better than previous years but not as well as I would like.

I used the stamp set called Wild About Flowers.  You would love this set.  It reminds me of a country meadow filled with wild flowers.  The sentiment is from Endless Birthday Wishes.  This set has been a very popular one with my customers.  The font is great and it has a lot of sentiments in it.  There is a sister stamp set called Endless Thanks which uses the same font and also has a lot of different sentiments.  Sadly both of these sentiment stamp sets are being retired on May 31st.  I will miss them!  Don’t forget to check what else is retiring by clicking on the button to the right of this post.

The Designer Series Paper is called A Little Foxy.  It uses some of the most popular colors (Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral and Pool Party).

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy created.  I am sure they will be awesome!

On Stage & Washi Label Punch

Washi Label, Endless Birthday Wishes

Well, today I am leaving for Salt Lake City and the Stampin’ Up! On Stage (convention)!  I am meeting Buffy there and can’t wait to get there.  On Stage is so much fun.  There are a ton of demonstrators from all over the world attending.  We get to stamp, eat, get free stuff, stamp, meet new people, stamp, eat….well you get the picture.  I’ll be posting some updates with pictures while I am there (if I can).  Last time I went, I tried to post but it didn’t work out so well but I’ll try again.

This is another card that we made at our monthly club meeting.  It is a very simple card, but I think it is really nice.  When you are a demonstrator, not only do you get to go to On Stage, you also get a monthly magazine called Stampin’ Success.  This magazine has a ton of ideas in it for card designs, recruiting other demos and building your business.  This card was in this magazine so I am not taking any credit for it at all.

If you are interested in becoming a demo you can contact me or just click the Join Now button on the right side of my blog.  ——————->

Wild About Flowers

Wild About Flowers, Endless Birthday Wishes

The 2015 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog is awesome this year.  It has stamps for every taste.  There are vintage stamps, modern stamps, flowers (of course), lots of sentiments and so much more.

The first time I saw Wild About Flowers I knew I had to get it.  When I was young, my grandparents lived in Manchester, Vermont.  It was not the Manchester it is today.  It was a small rural town where the only place to eat was the Bluebird Diner.  It had a wonderful bakery that made these toffee cookies that were to die for!  Now, it has a ton of outlet stores and is crazy busy.

My grandparents house was on a long dirt road and on either side of the road were big fields full of wild flowers.  We would walk down to their pond to go swimming and pick wild flowers on our way back to the house to give to my grandmother.  I am sure most of them were weed but she would put them in a vase anyway.

Wild About Flowers is a two step stamp set made out of Photopolymer.  That makes it so easy to line up the stamps.  Plus, the pictures are numbered so you know which flower goes with which stem.  It makes it so easy.

Here is a picture of my son, Sam, taking a nap with his girls on his first Father’s Day!

Happy Birthday, Zachary

Hello You Thinlits

Today is my baby’s birthday!  Zachary is turning 28!  I can’t believe how fast that happened.  It didn’t seem that long ago that he was the same age as Madelyn.  I am not sure where time goes but it is true what they say.  It flies!

I am so proud of Zachary.  Six years ago I cried when he told me he had joined the Air Force.  Turns out it was the best thing that ever happened to him.  He became an Air Traffic Controller.  He went places that scared me to death, but he did an awesome job.  Now he has left the Air Force and is going to go work for the FAA.  Although I know I would still cry if he started all over again, I also know he is an awesome young man because of his service in the military.

Happy Birthday, Zachary.  You are as wonderful as I knew you would be the day you were born.  I love you!

Hello You Birthday For A Friend

Dotty Angles, Hello You Thinlits

Today is Karin’s birthday.  If you pay attention to my blog at all you would  notice that she is makes the most comments on my blog.  It is so awesome that she takes the time to say such nice things about my cards. She is an awesome friend and a great cheerleader!

Not only is Karin a good friend, she is also in my Stamp Club.  The only thing is, this year she will not be joining.  I am very disappointed that she is leaving for such a silly reason!  Turns out she got a job.  In Italy.  For 3 years.  Yes, Italy!  Can you believe she would want to leave my Club in order to go live in Italy?  I will have to figure out a way to have her be a virtual member!

In any case, Happy Birthday Karin.  I hope you have an awesome day and the most amazing time in Italy!

Endless Birthday Wishes

Endless Birthday Wishes

I have to admit that I was very skeptical about the Photopolymer Stamps that Stampin’ Up! started selling a year or so ago.  Clear stamps?  No way!  Nothing can beat rubber (especially Stampin’ Up! rubber).  Well guess what?  I like them.  I like them a lot and the reason is because you can see exactly where you are stamping so you can line up the stamps perfectly!  I know we always could use a Stamp-a-ma-jig for that, but this is different.  You just ink and stamp.  Perfect placement every time.  They are especially great for stamping sentiments.  Look how they are perfectly lined up on this card.  Amazing!  One of the sets I used is called Endless Birthday Wishes.  This set is not in any catalog but is still available to purchase.  Click on the link below to see this fabulous set!

Four Feathers For You

Fine Feather, A Round Array

I thought the stamp set called Four Feathers would make a great masculine card.  This set also has matching Framelits called Feathers and you can save 15% by buying both in a bundle.  They are in the Holiday Catalog which ends January 5th.  I am not sure why they are in the Holiday catalog as you don’t usually use feathers for holidays but I am glad they are because I love them.

The “Four You” stamp is from the set called A Round Array.  It also has a matching punch called 7/8″ Scallop Circle.  The sentiment “celebrate” is from Endless Birthday Wishes.  This set is not in the catalog but you can still buy it.  There are a number of sets that aren’t in any catalog.  You can see them if you click on “Merchandise Not In The Catalog” at the top of this page.

A Pinterest CASE

Endless Birthday Wishes

I saw a card similar to this one on Pinterest the other day.  The colors of the other card were totally different and so was the saying.  Actually the square were a bit different too!  In any case, I guess the card I saw inspired me to make one similar but in my own style.  Pinterest is great for getting ideas for cards.  You can do a search on a particular stamp set or you can find all sorts of card layouts.  There are thousands and thousands of samples to look at.  Probably even millions (although I really have no idea).  Whenever I need inspiration I go there and look around.  It is amazing.

I used the Photopolymer stamp set called Endless Birthday Wishes.  It is not in the catalog but you can still order it.   There are quite a few Photopolymer Stamp Sets that are not in the catalog but still available.  If you click on the tab above that says “Merchandise Not In The Catalog” you can see all the available sets.

Hooray For Stars!

Bright & Beautiful

Here is yet another star card.  I can’t help myself.  I just love stars.  This card reminds me of a magician’s trick.  Can you see how the two stars are attached to each other?  It is magical (although not really).  As with any magic trick, there is always a solution.  You just have to figure it out.  In this case, it is very simple.  I cut out the larger star and then used a smaller Star Framelit to cut out the middle.  Then I just put a slice in the Blushing Bride star and hid that slice underneath the Calypso Coral Star.  See?  It only looks like magic.

Endless Birthday Wishes Is Back!

Endless Birthday Wishes

The Photopolymer Stamp set called Endless Wishes is now available to order again.  When it first appeared it flew out the door like hotcakes.  It has been a couple of months now and Stampin’ Up! once again has it in stock.  This makes me very happy because I love this set.  By the way, I have a sneak peek for you.  Do you remember the set called Endless Wishes?  It was a Christmas Photopolymer stamp set that lasted about a week before it sold out.  I have some great news.  Endless Wishes is in the Holiday Catalog that comes out September 1st!

I also used the Project Life Framelits called Cards & Labels to make this card.  Even if you are not into scrapbooking or Project Life, you would still love these Framelits.
