Mother’s Day Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to make a Mother’s Day card.  Easy, right?

I decided to use a retiring stamp set called Falling Flowers.  This set has matching dies called May Flowers.  The dies are retiring too.  Both of these products have been around for a while so I am not surprised they are going.  Still, I like this set so I will miss it.

If you look closely at the card you will also see I used a die from Flourish Thinlits.  These dies will be in our next catalog.  I wanted to add a little texture to the background so I thought this die worked well.  I layered it on a piece of cardstock I cut out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog and is carrying over to the new catalog.  This is a great set full of different birthday greetings.  As you can see, I used it for Mother’s Day too  because I don’t have a Mother’s Day stamp!  Can you believe that??

The colors I used for this card are Soft Sea Foam,  Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.

Country Home and Daisies

I decided to take a break from Christmas, winter and snowflake cards for one day,  Stampin’ Up!® has so many other stamps and colors that I sometimes forget about those during this season.  This card may be a little summery for November but it is a happy card which is a good thing year round.

To make this card I first punched a flower from the Daisy Punch three times from Petal Pink cardstock.  Petal Pink is such a pretty color.  It is a little bit pink and a little bit peach.  I cut the leaves from the Flourish Thinlits Dies in Whisper White.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Country Home which is in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  After I put it all together I decided to add a little sparkle to the flower.  It is the holiday season, after all (even if this was supposed to be a break), so I added some Clear Wink Of Stella on the petals.

Flourishing Phrases

This is the third card we made at our monthly club meeting.  It uses the stamp set called Flourishing Phrases and its matching dies called Flourish Thinlits.  The stamp set is a big set with 18 stamps included with it.  Fifteen of those stamps are sentiments so it can be used for a lot of different occasions.  There are sympathy, thank you, hello, marriage and congratulations sentiments.  Luckily this stamp set and dies are being carried over into the new Catalog.

The dies in this set are very intricate and beautiful.  To make it easier to adhere to the cardstock we used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  You attach a piece of the Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock and then run it through the Big Shot with the die.  Then you just peel off the backing and adhere it to your card.  It is especially great with dies that have a lot of detail.

We stamped the flowers and leaves with Versamark onto Smoky Slate cardstock.  Versamark is great for embossing but it is a watermark ink so whatever color cardstock you stamp it on, it makes the image just slightly darker.  The sentiment was stamped using Island Indigo.  Poor Island Indigo.  It is one of the colors that is retiring on May 31st.  Make sure you stock up up ink, ink refills and cardstock if you like this color.

Sometimes Life Happens

Flourish Thinlits. Flourishing Phrases, Sympathy Card, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

A couple of weeks ago my 88 year old mother in law was having trouble breathing so we took her to the emergency room.  After about 10 days in the hospital, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.  Although it is very sad, we are grateful that she did not suffer a lot and is now reunited with my father in law and her parents.  I guess if anything good can come out of such an event, it brings families and friends who live far away together again.  My kids came home and I got to see Madelyn again.  My local friends brought us food, cards and flowers.  It always amazes me how wonderful people can be in a stressful and sad time and I appreciate each and every one of them.  We will all miss my mother in law but we are so thankful for every one who helped us through this difficult time. Blog Signature-001 Product List

Falling Flowers

Falling Flowers, Flourish Thinlits, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

One of the great things about Stampin’ Up! is you can mix and match just about everything!  Although this card uses a stamp set that has matching Framelits, I decided to also use a different set of Thinlits.  Actually, this card is a mish mash (are they even words?) of a lot of different products.

The flowers are from the stamp set called Falling Flowers.  The matching Framelits are called May Flowers and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.   The sentiment is from a past Paper Pumpkin Kit.  That is something that people forget.  Even though you may have made all the items in the Paper Pumpkin kit, you will still have the stamp sets to use forever!  The Gold Foil leaves and border are from Flourish Thinlits.  Remember, there is no law that says you can only use sets that come together on a card.  You can mix it up every now and then!

Flourish Thinlits Celebration

Flourish Thinlits, My Hero, You've Got This, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I made this card originally for a color challenge, but of course, I can’t remember where I got it from.  The challenged used Pink Pirouette, Pool Party and Basic Black.  Normally I would never use pink and blue together.  There was this woman I used to work with many years ago who would wear this bright blue and pink outfit.  The pants, sweater vest and top matched all matched. I have to say, it is one of the worst outfits I have ever seen and she wore it a lot.  It is funny how memories can turn you off from certain colors but in any case, I decided to try them again.  I actually like the card but I am still not so sure about the colors.

I stamped the background using the large stamp in the set called You’ve Got This.  The sentiment is from the Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set.  When you purchase this set Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to RMHC.  I hand cut out the banner, although there is a set of Framelits you can purchase that would cut it out for you (Cupcake Cutouts).

What do you think of the color?  Yes or no?  I am going with no.

Flourish Thinlits

Flourish Thinlits, Crazy About You, Pretty Paisleys, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I have made a few cards lately that could be used for a wedding card, yet could also be used as a birthday card.  I think I have weddings on my brain.  My nephew is getting married and I’ve been helping my sister Katherine pick out a Mother of The Groom dress.  A couple of years ago, when I retired from my full time job, my sister was on a sabbatical from teaching.  It was when my niece was getting married.  Katherine and I spent hours “talking” online trying to find dresses to wear.  I think there were days when we didn’t even get dressed!  It was fun.  So, now we are doing it again, although we aren’t spending all day, it is still fun.  She needs to pick out a dress first and then I will be able to pick one out so we don’t get the same color.  Wish us luck!

A Stamp Off Challenge Of Layers

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is my favorite day of the week and time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This week our challenge is called Lots Of Layers where we have to use, well, lots of layers!  SO Lots of Layers Challenge

Here is my card:

Flourish Thinlits, Rose Wonder

I am sure you are looking at this card saying to yourself, where are all the layers?  Susan cheated again.  No.  I didn’t!  The background is made from multiple die cuts from the set called Flourish Thinlits.  It almost looks like an embossing folder but it isn’t.  I think some call it “Faux Embossing” for that reason.  I had to cut out 6 or 7 of the largest die and piece them all together to make the design.  It took a while but I think it came out looking very elegant.  I would use it for a wedding card but I don’t know anyone getting married in the very near future.

Let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made with this challenge.  I am sure you will love both of their projects!

Flourish Thinlits Birthday

Flourish Thinlits, Brushwork Alphabet, Time Of Year

Last week I went to South Carolina to visit my mother (who is 91!).  My two sisters also came so we had a little reunion.  I had a great time except, I have to tell you, I have decided that Southerners are crazy!  I am sorry but they just have to be.  I don’t know how they live in that hot, humid weather.  I thought I was going to melt every time I went outside.  Walking to the car, made me break out in a sweat.  Inside the car was like a sauna.  Holy cow!  It was hot!

What does that have to do with this card?  Not a thing!

I made this card using a couple of different stamp sets.  The “Happy” was stamped using the Brushwork Alphabet.  It is a very pretty font and you can make any word you would like.  The “birthday” is from a hostess set called Time Of The Year.  You can only buy this set with a qualifying $150 order.  The good news is if you place a $150 order before the end of July you can get $15 in free merchandise now and then get three $5.00 coupons to use during the month of August for Bonus Days!

Tic Tac Toe

Stamp Off Logo Clean

I just love Fridays because it is the day Buffy, Jackie and I have our Stamp Off Challenge.  This week the challenge is TIC Tac Toe.  You have to pick a column vertically, horizontally or diagonally and make a card using the items in that row.  Here is the Tic Tac Toe Board we used.

47a6d820b3127cce98548a42eb2100000010100AcN2Lhq3cOXGA

I used the first column going down (Framelit or Thinlit, In Color and White Perfect Accents).  Here is my card:

Falling Flowers, Flourish Thinlits

I did cheat a little with my row.  I know.  I think I always cheat just a little.  I tried a White Perfect Accent in the flower but it didn’t really show up very well so I used a Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shape.  I am sorry, Jackie & Buffy.  I know you will forgive me though because you are both awesome like that!

I just love Peekaboo Peach with Pumpkin Pie.  They compliment each other so well.  The stamp set I used for the leaves is called Falling Flowers.  The flowers are from the Flourish Thinlits Dies and the sentiment is from Mixed Borders.

Now let’s go check out what Buffy and Jackie made.  I can’t wait to see.  They always make gorgeous creations!
