The Stampin’ Up! Catalog Premiere

On Monday night I went to an really fun Stampin’ Up! event that was available to demonstrators only.  Stampin’ Up! held a new Catalog Premiere where all the demonstrators who attended could get a glimpse at some of the products coming out in the new catalog that starts June 1st.  They rented out 40 movie theaters all over the country and one of them was in Syracuse.  I have to say it was the best “movie” I have ever been to!  The best part is at the end of the even everyone got a new stamp set that will be in the catalog AND a copy of the catalog.  Isn’t the cover cute?

The sad part about this whole thing is there are some stamp sets and accessories that are not in the new catalog.  The card I made uses a few of these retiring items.  The heart is from Hearts A Flutter.  The “Forever & Always is from Loving Thoughts.  The ribbon is also retiring (and already sold out!) and so is the Embossing Folder, called Adorning Accents, but is not sold out yet.

Hearts A Flutter, Adorning Accents, Loving Thoughts,

Merchandise is going quickly so if you want something that is retiring you need to buy it soon before it is gone for good!

Pool Party Valentine

DSC01885

Everywhere I look (Stampin Up! website, Pinterest & Facebook) I see the color combination of Pool Party and Real Red.  They are not colors I would normally put together, but after seeing it a bazillion times, it has grown on me.  Therefore, I made this Valentine card using those two colors together.  The large heart and banner came from the stamp set called Hearts A Flutter that has matching Framelits, also called Hearts A Flutter.  The little embossed hearts are from an embossing folder called Adorning Accents.  There are three small folders in this set.  Lastly, the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Hearts A Flutter Valentine

DSC01822

This card is about as vintage as I get.  I used Blushing Bride (probably the first time I have used it ever).  For those who like vintage, I apologize for just not being able to do it.  I’ve tried.  Really I have.  I love looking at vintage cards.  I just can’t reproduce them!

This card uses a few different stamp sets.  The big heart is from Hearts A Flutter.  The background behind the heart is En Francais and the sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.  The little hearts are an Embosslit called Fashionable Hearts.  I love all the different sized and embossed hearts it makes.  I made the frame using two squares from the Squares Collection Framelits.  You just put one inside the other and run it through the Big Shot.

The is the third card we made at our Club meeting in January.  I know it seems a little early to be making Valentine cards but Valentines Day is only a little more than a month away.  Around the 12th of February you will be wishing you had started earlier.  Remember all those Christmas card nudges I was giving you back in November?  Remember how you wished you had started then instead of waiting until December 20th to start your cards?  Ok.  Enough nagging!

This card was made using two stamp sets.  The first one is called Heats A Flutter.  Although I did not use them, this set has matching Framelits.    The second stamp set is called That’s the Ticket and has a matching punch called Ticket Duo Builder.  The Designer Series Paper is called Modern Medley and comes in Basic Black and Very Vanilla.

Happy Anniversary Rob!

DSC00861

Today is Rob and my 30th Anniversary!  Wow!  I do have to say, the years went really fast.  It doesn’t seem that long ago that I married my Sweet Vidalia Onion (sorry but that is a 30 year old joke!) but it really has been 30 years!  When we got married I only promised him 8 years so I think we did pretty well considering!

I made this card using the hearts from the Hearts A Flutter stamp set and then cutting them out with the matching Hearts A Flutter Framelits.  The Happy Anniversary sentiment is from the Hostess Set called Express Yourself.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Rob!  Here is to 30 more!  Love you.

Fab Friday Color Challenge 20

Last week’s Fab Friday Challenge was a color challenge.  I know I am a little late with my post, but I was out of town visiting my mother without any stamping supplies.  It was tough!  I am going to have to learn to pack a stamp to go kit so I can take things with me.  I wonder if they allow snips on the flight.  Somehow I doubt it!  In any case, I probably would not have brought all these colors with me unless I had know ahead of time.  The challenge was to use all the new In Colors.

I decided to use a stamp set that has not seen a lot of love lately called Hearts A Flutter and the matching Framelits. I always think this is a Valentine’s set but really it isn’t.  It does have a bunch of hearts but it also has a lot of banners which can be used anytime.  I also used a set called Chalk Talk for the sentiment.

Hearts A Flutter Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all have someone to call your Valentine. I am lucky enough to have four Valentines – my husband, Rob and my three sons. This is the Valentine I made for Rob (no peeking Rob).

It uses the Heats a Flutter Stamp Set and Framelits and can be purchased in a Bundle. Although it has hearts, it can also be used for so many other things because of the various banners. The bottom of the card was cut using the Large Scallop Edgelits and I then embossed it using the Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate. It takes a little practice but once you figure it out, you can make beautifully embossed cards that match many of our Framelits and Edgelits.

Hearts A Flutter Valentine

This card uses the Hearts A Flutter Stamp Set and Matching Framelits (you can get them both in a bundle and save some money!) as well as Itty Bitty Banners and the matching Framelits for that set called Bitty Banners.  Then the bottom of the card was cut with the Large Scallop Edgelits and then embossed with Delicate Designs.

Valentine’s Day is coming soon but there is still time to order.  Click here before it is too late.

Perfectly Preserved Hearts

The Occasions Catalog has a little tiny set called Itty Bitties which I thought would go perfectly with the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set.  It has little tiny hearts, butterflies, lady bugs and leaves.  All together is has 56 different stamps that could be used with many sets.  By the way, even though Perfectly Preserved was in the Holiday Catalog, you can still order it.

The hearts in this card come from a variety of stamps sets.  I used Itty Bitties for the littlest hearts and lips.  I used Tiny Tags for the larger stamped hearts with the swirl in them.  The outlined heart comes from Hearts A Flutter.  As you can see, Stampin Up has tons of choices when it comes to hearts.  Of course, I had to have them all.  What else is new!?!

Tutorial on My Valentine Pop Up Card

Yesterday I showed you the Valentine I made with the new Pop’N Cuts Big Shot Die.  Here is a picture of the inside of it.

To make this you need the Pop ‘N Cuts Card Base.  The first thing you need to do it take a piece of card stock (I used Real Red) 4.5″ x 11 and cut out the card base using the big shot die.  The die has two little lines showing where to score the card after cutting.  Take a pencil and mark this place on both sides and then score using your Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

Then take a piece of Designer Series Paper (4.5 x 11) and cut using the Pop ‘N Cuts Card Base.  I used Summer Smooches DSP.  Then score your DSP at 4″, 7″ and 8.5″.

Crease your DSP at the score marks.  The top score mark is a valley fold.  The second one is a mountain fold and the bottom one is a valley fold.

Place snail adhesive on the top section of the DSP and the bottom section.  Do not put adhesive in the two middle sections or your card will not pop up.

Attach your DSP to your Card Base.  Be careful to line it up exactly even.
