Forever Fern

Stampin Up Forever Fern

This is a fun technique I saw online in a Gina K video.  It uses a technique where you use masking paper, Post-It Notes or some other sticky paper.  You rip a piece of this paper in half, place one piece at the top of  your cardstock and one at the bottom and then use Blending Brushes with different colored inks over the exposed area.  I decided to go with part of the Rainbow order of ROYGBIV so I used Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Just Jade and Misty Moonlight ink.  I didn’t use the violet (or purple) because I ran out of room.

I love the new Blending Brushes because they work so well and the ink goes on very smoothly.  I bought enough to use one for each color family (meaning one for blue ink, one for green ink, etc.).  They blend the ink really well and I highly recommend them.  They are in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog on page 70.

After I did the blending of the ink, I removed the masking paper and stamped the images from Forever Fern in Memento Black ink.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  The card was very simple to make and I love how it turned out.

I layered everything on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and a card base of Daffodil Delight.

Berry Blessings

Stampin Up Berry Delightful

As you can probably tell, I really love the Berry Blessings Bundle that is in the 2021 Stampin’ Up!® Sale-a-bration Catalog.  Why do I love it?  It is beautiful but the best part is, it was FREE!  Unfortunately, this will be my last post using it because Sale-a-bration ends on Sunday.  That means this bundle will not be available anymore.  You won’t be able to get it for free or get it at all so if you love it, you need to place a qualifying order by Sunday.

This card is a Fun Fold card called a Slide and Lock.  I made one of these last July.  You can see it HERE.  The directions and measurements for a portrait card are included in that post so if you would like to see them, just click on that link.  It is called a Slide and Lock because the center section slides up to be removed and open the card.

Isn’t that fun?!

To make this card I first scored a 4.14″ x 11″ piece of Poppy Parade cardstock at 2.75″ at 8.25″.  Then I cut 1/16″ off one end.  This makes it a bit easier to slide the middle section.  Then I layered two 2.5″ x 4″ pieces of Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper on both ends.  Remember, this paper is part of the Sale-a-bration Berry Blessing Bundle that you can get for free with a qualifying order until Sunday.  Again, the rest of the directions and measurements on how to make the sliding part are in the link above.  The only different is I used the Here’s  Card stamp set for the sentiment.  I cut it  and the piece of Poppy Parade cardstock that is behind it out using the Ornate Frames die set

Celebrate Sunflowers

Flowers For Every Season is a suite in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  This suite includes two different stamp sets, one with a matching punch and one that has dies, as well as Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments. One of the stamp sets is called Celebrate Sunflowers.  This stamp set has coordinating dies called Sunflower Dies and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The other stamp set in this suite is called Jar Of Flowers and it has a coordinating punch.

I love sunflowers.  During the day, the young sunflower will follow the path of the sun to receive the most light for photosynthesis.  At night they turn back to the east in anticipation of the sun rising the next day.  There was a random Facebook post about how sunflowers face each other if there is no sun to give each other strength, but unfortunately that is not true.  It is a nice thought though!

To make this card, I first randomly stamped the smaller sunflowers in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I stamped the larger sunflower and the leaves and cut them out too.  I colored the sunflower using Daffodil Delight Blends and the leaves in Old Olive.   The sentiment is from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  I punched that out using the Label Me Fancy Punch.

Beautiful Friendship

Beautiful Friendship is one of my favorite stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  I was so happy when I found out that it was not going to retire with our last catalog.  It is just gorgeous and I use it often.  It is part of the Stampin Up DisINKtive line of stamps.  These stamps create different opacities for depth and make the images look almost 3D.  There are a lot of two step stamp sets that can do this but these are different because you just use one stamp.  If you look at my card you can see where the Hydrangea has light blue and dark blue petals.  This is what these stamps do.  I love them!

The colors I used for this card are So Saffron, Seaside Spray, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Old Olive and Highland Heather.  To make it I used my Stamparatus.  I put a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the SAR and placed a flower stamp where I wanted it to go.  Then I closed the top which picked up the stamp, inked it and stamped it.  I turned the piece of cardstock 180 and did the same thing again so each image was stamped twice on each side of the cardstock.  There was a little overlap with the So Saffron flower but my sentiment strip covered it.  I cut out the word Happy with the Word Wishes Dies in Basic Black cardstock.  The birthday sentiment was from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  I covered the word happy with some tape, inked the stamp and then pulled the tape off.  This way only the word birthday had ink on it.  This technique is called masking.

Celebrate Sunflowers

This is a card I made using some new products from the Stampin’ Up!® 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  Have you looked at this catalog?  It is awesome and full of beautiful and new products!  I had a hard time decided what to purchase first.

The sunflower on this card is part of the Flowers For Every Season Suite.  One of the stamp sets is called Celebrate Sunflowers and it has matching dies called Sunflowers Dies.  If you purchase them in a Bundle you can save 10%.  I didn’t use the stamp set on this card.  I only used the dies and as you can see, they make a beautiful and large sunflower with a lot of detail.  The colors I used are Bumblebee (a brand new InColor!), Garden Green, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.  The Designer Series Paper  I used is also brand new and is called In Good Taste.  I love how this particular piece I used looks 3D.  The sentiment is from Here’s A Card.

Positive Thoughts

Positive Thoughts is a stamp set that is in the 2020 January-June Mini Catalog.  It is one of the stamp sets that did not originally have matching dies to go with it but thanks to the Sale-a-bration Coordination products, it now does!  The dies are called Nature’s Thoughts and you can order them now.  Stampin’ Up!® now offers 5 different die sets as well as some Designer Series Paper  that is only available during Sale-a-bration or while supplies last.

The colors I used for this card are Mint Macaron, Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White.  I stamped each of the images and cut them out using the new dies.  This die set also includes the rectangle I cut in Whisper White cardstock.  If you look closely it has some funky stitches along the edges.  The sentiment is from Here’s A Card.  I stamped it using Memento Black ink onto a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and then cut it out using the Stitched So Sweetly die set.

Here is the chart of the available products in the new Sale-a-bration Coordination.

This card was very simple to make.  I stamped the flower and leaves from Good Morning Magnolia and cut them out using the matching dies called Magnolia Memory.  You can save 10% by purchasing them both in a Bundle.  I colored them using my Highland Heather and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  This stamp set is a must have.  It covers just about every occasion and has a beautiful, elegant font.  The are sentiments for the outside of a card as well as the inside.

Here’s A Card

Here’s A Card is a new stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  It is a sentiment only stamp set that has sentiments for the outside and inside of your cards.  I love the different fonts it uses because they are simple and elegant.

To make this card I first cut a strip of the new Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Blueberry Bushel Color.  This DSP is amazing.  It is bright and shiny and comes in great patterns.  I also cut two small strips from the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets in Old Olive and put them on either side of the first strip I cut.  You can mix and match both of these packs of paper because they use the same colors.  The Specialty paper has a pattern and the Foil Sheets are plain.

Then I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink and cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I layered that with an oval cut using the Layering Ovals Dies and an Old Olive Foil Sheet.  Lastly I cut the leaves out using the Animal Friends Dies.

Last week my son, Sam and his wife, Tara, and two of my grandchildren Madelyn and Nolan  spent a week with us at the cottage.  We had so much fun.  We spent a lot of time in the water swimming, boating and jet skiing but also took a day and went to Old McDonald’s Farm and Boldt Castle.  Here are some pictures to share with you.

Tasteful Backgrounds & Daisy Lane

Stampin’ Up!® has so many awesome new products in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog that I had a hard time keeping to my budget.  I am not a very patient person so when I see something I love, I want it immediately.  This card had three different products that I purchased right away.

The colors I used on this card are Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody.  To make this card I first used the set of dies called Tasteful Backgrounds.  There are three dies in this set that you can use to make fun backgrounds like this one.  It also has a matching stamp set called Tasteful Textures (and you can get the 10% Bundle price).  I didn’t use the matching stamp set on this card but it is really pretty and worth buying.

After I cut them out, I used my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch with Mango Melody cardstock to put behind a couple of the cut out images.  Then I used Mango Melody ink with the stamp set called Daisy Lane with the matching punch called Medium Daisy (you can buy these in a Bundle and save 10%).  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Here’s A Card.  This is a sentiment only set that has a few different elegant fonts and sentiments to use on the inside and the outside of a card.

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!
