Coming Home

Coming Home is a cute stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® August – December 2020 Mini Catalog (previously known as the Holiday Catalog).  It has a set of coordinating dies called Home Together and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  It is also the “Making A Difference” stamp set of this catalog.  This means that when you purchase this stamp set, Stampin’ Up!® will donate $3 to charities devoted to adoption, foster care and infertility.  By the way, every catalog Stampin’ Up!® puts out has a Making A Difference stamp set in it.  They have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various charities over the years.

This is a very simple card to make.  I stamped each element in it and cut them out using the coordinating Home Together Dies.  The house is So Saffron, the trees are Just Jade and the car is Misty Moonlight.  I had to make the car blue because the first car I ever owned was a dark blue Volkswagon Bug.  I loved this car until I moved to the North Country.  Volkswagons were not known for their heating system and in the winter I had to cover my legs with a blanket and hold an ice scrapper to keep the windshield clear of ice.  Needless to say, I traded my Bug in for a car that had heat before the next winter.  It was a little too chilly for me!

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Country Home.  This set is in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.

Beautiful Autumn

Hello everyone.  Today BS & J Productions is having a sketch challenge today.  I love sketch challenges because whenever I am stuck making something I go look for a card sketch on Pinterest and use that to make a card.  Here is our sketch for today.

Here is my card:

Stampin Up Beautiful Autumn

So the first thing you will notice is I didn’t totally use the sketch on this card.  I tried to put a square of cardstock behind the wreath but it had to be fairly big and didn’t fit properly.  The best thing I love about doing challenges with Jackie and Buffy is you don’t always have to do exactly what is outlined so this time I took the liberty of not putting in the tilted square.

To make this card the first thing I did was cut a piece of Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper that is 2″ x 5.5″.  I backed this with a 2.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Garden Green cardstock and layered that on a Soft Sea Foam card base.  Then I cut two of the wreaths out in Garden Green cardstock using the Wreath Builder Dies from the 2020/2021 Stampin Up Annual Catalog and layered both of them on top of each other.

After that I used the stamp set that is in the new August – December 2020 Catalog (previously known as the Holiday Catalog) called Beautiful Autumn. I knew the second I saw it I had to get it because it goes so well with the Wreath Builder Dies.  This stamp set is part of the Gilded Autumn Suite and has a punch bundle called Autumn Punch Pack.  If you buy the punches and the stamp set in a Bundle, you can save 10%.  The suite also has Designer Series Paper, ribbon, Acorn Trinkets and gorgeous Brushed Metallic cardstock.

I stamped the Maple leaves using Cherry Cobbler Ink on Real Red cardstock, the Oak leaves using Bumblebee ink on Crushed Curry cardstock and the acorns using Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  Then I punched them out using the Acorn Punch Pack.  By they way, these punches also cut out shapes from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I also stamped the sentiment on Crumb Cake cardstock using Soft Suede Ink.

I left it that way for a bit but I kept coming back to it because I felt it needed something more.  I tried a ribbon but that didn’t look right because of the sentiment so I finally decided to add a few sequins from Sequins For Everything pack.  This set of sequins has more than 3,000 pieces in it!

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using this card sketch.  They probably followed the rules, although sometimes they don’t so who knows!

Ornamental Envelopes

Stampin Up Ornamental Envelopes

I just love the new stamp set called Ornamental Envelopes and the coordinating dies called Envelopes.  Both of these are in the new Holiday Catalog and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Now I can add some pizzazz to my boring (yet lovely) Whisper White Medium   Envelopes by using this Bundle.  The stamp set has 10 Photopolymer stamps that include envelope designs as well as this cute ornament stamp.  The dies cut out cardstock that you can put inside your envelope to add a little color as well as some that cut out designs on the flaps like the one I made here.

To make this card I first stamped the ornaments on a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock in Misty Moonlight and then cut them out using the coordinating die.  The ornaments with the hanging lines are one big stamp and the die cuts out all the ornaments at once which makes it so easy.   Then I stamped it again in Just Jade onto a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I popped up some of the Misty Moonlight ornaments over the Just Jade ones using  Stampin Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment in Just Jade and layered it on top of a piece of Just Jade cardstock I had punched out using the new Banners Pick A Punch which is also in the new Holiday Catalog.  Lastly, I added a couple of the InColor Enamel Dots in Bumblebee to a few of the ornaments.

To make the envelope I place the die that looks like a branch with some leaves on the flap of a Medium Envelope and ran it through my die cutting machine.  Then I cut out a piece of Just Jade cardstock using the scalloped edge envelope die and adhered it to the inside of the envelope.  Here is a picture:

I just love how the envelopes came out.

Cute Fruit

Stampin Up Cute Fruit, #simplestamping

Cute Fruit is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® Beginner Brochure.  The Beginner Brochure is a small booklet that they came out with for people that have never stamped before.  It is great because they packaged items together that are easy to use and all go together.  The bundles give you everything you need to make beautiful cards.  You get the stamps, cardstock, eight different inks and a clear block. You can buy all the products using one item number or you can order them each separately if you prefer.

I already owned all the supplies needed in the bundle so I just ordered the stamp set because I thought it was really cute.  I love the little faces you can put on the fruit (Lynette, this is for you). The stamps are Photopolymer so they are easy to make the images.  I first stamped the pineapple in BumbleBee ink and the green top in Just Jade.  I stamped the face and the sentiment in Misty Moonlight.  I decided to add a few of  the 2020/2022 In Color Enamel Dots.  The Designer Series Paper is the 2020/2022 InColor 6″ x 6″ paper stack.

If you would like to look at this brochure just click HERE.  If you are new to stamping, these products are a perfect way to get started.

Playing With Patterns

Stampin Up Playing With Patterns

Good morning everyone.  I hope you are all enjoying your summer (or winter depending on where you live).  Our summer has been hot and sunny which is perfect lake weather.  If it gets too hot we can just go jump in the lake.

Today I have been playing with the Stampin Up Playing With Patterns Suite.  This suite is in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  It includes a stamp set called Pattern Play, dies called Playful Alphabet, cute Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  I love the dies and the DSP the best so I made a card using them.

The first thing I did was cut out the letters in Just Jade cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I had a little bit of a hard time lining them up until I saw a Jennifer McGuire video showing how she does it with a T-ruler.  This method worked perfectly with my die cutting machine magnetic plate.  I just placed them on the piece of cardstock a little lower than where I wanted them to cut out and then pushed them up slowly with my T-ruler until they were where I wanted them.  Then I just ran them through my die cutting machine.  After I cut them out I backed them with a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock.

These particular letter (the A & 2 P’s) have little pieces in the middle of them.  To place them perfectly I put the letters back into where I had cut them put a little Multipurpose Glue in the center and then fitted the little middle piece inside.  Then I just pulled the letters out and will save them for a future card.

Stampin Up Playing With Patterns

The sentiment “birthday” is from the set of dies called Well Written.  I wanted to use the new Foam Adhesive Sheets with it to make it stand out a bit so I layered a piece of Bumblebee cardstock on top of a piece of the Foam Adhesive sheets and cut it out.   The Foam Adhesive Sheets are like Dimensionals only they are 4 1/2″ x 4 5/16″.  It took 3 or 4 runs through my die cutting machine to cut it out but it worked great.  I think it is because the dies are so skinny.  I love these new sheets.

Nothing’s Better Than

Stampin Up Nothing's Better Than

I decided I wanted to try some different techniques and while looking on the internet I found two I wanted to try so I decided to do both with one card.  The first technique is called Reverse Stenciling.  I got this technique from Pinterest and I think it originally came from Gina K.  I made the background of this card using that technique.

To make the background I first randomly sponged some bright colors (the colors are listed below) onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock making sure there was no white left.  Then I put the polka dot mask from the set called Basic Pattern Decorative Masks over the top and sponged Memento Black ink which made the dots black.  I thought it came out pretty cool and will definitely try this again.

The second technique I used came from Lydia on Splitcoaststampers.com.  If you look at the photo below you will see the sentiment “Cocktails” is shiny.  All I did was put a piece of packing tape onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheets on the other side.  Then I cut the sentiment from the die set called Love You More Than.  The sentiment came out shiny and popped up to add some dimension.  The Foam Adhesive Sheets are like Dimensionals only it comes in large sheets.

I stamped the other sentiments and the drink using the coordinating stamp set called Nothing’s Better Than and layered them on a die cut from Tasteful Labels.  If you purchase the Love You More Than dies and the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set together in a Bundle you can save 10%.  I colored the drink using Stampin’ Blends.  The colors I used are listed below.

I am definitely going to try both of these techniques again.  They were both easy and fun!

Best Year & Best Plaid & A Sneak Peek

Hello everyone.  It is time for another stamp off challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This week we are having a color challenge.  These are the colors we need to use.

I decided to use So Saffron, Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz.

Best Plaid, Best Year

I just love the new Best Plaid dies.  They are so much fun to make all different looking plaids.  Plus, they are super easy to use.  The Best Plaid dies are bundled with the stamp set called Best Year.  You can save 10% if you purchase them in a Bundle.

One hint I need to give you is if you want to line all the different pieces it is best to glue them all together and then cut them out either using a die or if you have a really good cutter that will cut out multiple layers at one time, you can use that.  In my case, I layered everything on top of a larger piece of Whisper White cardstock and then cut it all out at once using the Stitched Rectangle die.  It was four layers so I ran it through my die cutting machine a few times.

I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black ink and cut it out using a die from the set called Tasteful Labels.  Then I stamped it again in Highland Heather ink and cut it so it make a 1/2″ strip.  Then I used a new punch that will be in the Holiday Catalog beginning in August called Banners Pick a Punch.  This is going to be a must have product.  It cuts three different sized banners in two different shapes.

Now, Let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made using these beautiful colors.  They always give me such good ideas!

Only a week left for Bonus Days!! For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases. Purchase $50 and you get one coupon. Purchase $100 and you get two!  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn.

Whiskey Business

Stampin Up Whiskey Business

Whiskey Business is a new stamp set that is in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It is a perfect stamp set to use for a masculine card which we all know is hard to do.  Stampin’ Up!® has always had some good stamp sets for this purpose and I usually buy most of them because they are perfect.

To make this card I first stamped the glass and decanter in Early Espresso ink and cut them out using my Paper Snips.  I am not a very good fussy cutter (what they call cutting things out by hand in the card making business) but these were easy to do since they are mostly straight lines.  Stampin’ Up!® Paper Snips work really well because they are small and have a very sharp point.  Then I colored them using my Cinnamon Cider Stampin Blends.

I took a piece of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and cut it out using the Layered Ovals Dies.  Then I cut off one end of it to make it look like a table.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink and cut that out using a die from the Tasteful Labels Die set.  I attached the glass, decanter and sentiment using a Stampin Dimensionals to give it a little depth.
