Hexagon Hive

Tin Of Cards, Hexagon Hive

Have you ever gotten an idea in your head but you just can’t get it on paper?  This was a result of having that happen.  I had this great idea that involved diagonals, Sea Street and Designer Series paper.  As you can see, the only thing that made it on this card was the diagonals.  I wanted to make a masculine nautical card.  The only thing nautical about this card is the colors.  Let me tell you, a lot of card stock, stamped and unstamped made it to the garbage bin this time.  I was able to save it but I am not too sure how happy I am with the way it turned out.  Such is the life of a card maker!

I hope you have better luck with your ideas then I did with this idea!

Hexagon Hive Petals

Hexagon Hive, Petite Petals, Circle MonogramToday is my Mother In Law’s birthday.  She is 86 years old and is as spry as can be at that age.  I wanted to send her a bright birthday card to brighten her day so I though a nice Basic Black and Very Vanilla card with a pop of color (Strawberry Slush) would work.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Modern Medley and is retiring at the end of this month.

If you look at the sentiment and try to find it in the catalog you won’t be able to.  That is because it is a Photopolymer Circle Monogram Stamp that I designed.  It is so easy to do.  You just put in the item number and another window pops up where you write whatever you want your stamp to say.  I love it.  This is not carrying over into the next catalog.  It is not in this catalog so I am not sure of the fate of it yet.  If you like it, I would order it before June 1st just in case it is no longer available then.

I also used Hexagon Hive for the background and Petite Petals for the flowers.

Happy Birthday Dorothy!

Hexagon Hive

DSC01992

Hexagons are really popular right now and I love the new Thinlit called Hexagon Hive.  I actually layered three of them together and then moved one color (Crisp Cantaloupe) up a little and one color (Coastal Cabana) down a little so that they colors peeked out behind the Very Vanilla top layer.  It almost makes your eyes go googlily (definitely not a real word!) while looking at it.  Then on top of it all, I used some of the hexagons that were cut out on top to give it a little more color.  The sentiment is from Lacy & Lovely.  I love the font in that set.

You’re Lovely With Petite Petals

DSC01888

This is the second card we made at our February Stamp Club meeting this week.  I actually used the same stamps and framelits but made two cards with different layouts.  The Cub Members got to choose which way they liked better and a couple of them did something totally different all together.  I love it when my Cub Members experiment and change things up.  It gives me ideas too!

I used Petite Petals from the Occasions Catalog for the flowers.  It has a matching punch called Petite Petals Punch (original, huh?) and you can save 15% by buying both in a Bundle!  The background was made using the Hexagon Hive Frameilit.  I love that!  The stamp is from the Sale-a-Bration catalog and it is called You’re Lovely.  You can get this set for FREE with a $50 order.  It matches the Deco Label Framelits so there is not need to cut it out.  Everything on this card was so easy to make!
