Fable Friends

If you have been following my blog for a while you know that I am not a big cutesy stamp person.  I do think those kinds of stamp sets are cute, they are just not what I buy.  So what happens?  The most amazing, beautiful, handsome and smart grandchildren come along.  My wonderful daughter in law asked me to make Valentines for them and I look around and have very few cute, kid sets.  All I had was retired dinosaurs and elephants.  Well, I decided this just would not do.  What will happen when they get a little older, come to visit and want to stamp with me?  So, now I am buying some sets with them in mind.

Fable Friends is one of these sets.  It is cute.  The bunny is adorable.  Even thought the squirrel is a , um, squirrel, it is also cute.  Look at these ducks.  They are so sweet!

To make this card I first stamped the ducks in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored them using my Granny Apple Green, Night Of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Balmy Blue and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.  The grass is from the stamp set called High Tide and the sentiment is from Life Is Grand, a stamp set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  The Designer Series Paper is Gala Gingham.

Let’s Drink

I know that was a weird title but it caught your attention, didn’t it?  Today’s Stamp Off challenge is to make a card of some kind of drinking.  I had to think about this one for a while.  I have the stamp set called Coffee Cafe but I figured Buffy would use that since she loves coffee.  I had to a search through my stamps and found one that had a drink in it.

I used a few different stamp sets for this card.  The drink is from Colorful Seasons.  I also used High Tide and the sentiment is from Florentine Filigree.  I also used a non-Stampin’ Up!® set.  What??  I know!  Blasphemy!  I couldn’t find a solid sailboat image in my SU stash so I cheated a bit.

This winter has been brutal with lots of ice, snow, cold and wind.  This card made me think of warmth, sunshine and peace.  I could use that in my life right now!

To make it I first stamped the water in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay ink.  Then I  stamped the sand in Crumb Cake a few different times using a stamp from High Tide.  This gave it a little depth.  I sponged the sky using Balmy Blue ink and then stamped the birds in Crumb Cake ink and the sentiment and sailboat in Early Espresso.  I cut the chair out of Whisper White cardstock with a die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Set.  I stamped the drink in Mango Melody and cut it out using the matching die.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  We will see if my prediction for Buffy is true.  That is one of the things I love about our challenges.  We don’t share our cards ahead of time so it is a fun surprise for us too!

Let’s Go To The Beach

Good morning everyone!  Today is another day for a Stamp Off Challenge.  This time we have a theme card.  We can make a card (or project) with a beach theme.  My favorite place in the world is a tropical beach so it was not hard for me to get into this theme.

Here is my card:

To make this card I used a couple of different stamp sets.  First I stamped the sand using the stamp set called High Tide in Crumb Cake.  The then tore (yes, Buffy I really did!) the piece of cardstock so it looked a little uneven as sand might.  Then I stamped the sea grass and the sentiment in Tranquil Tide ink.  I used Bermuda Bay ink for the water and Crumb Cake for the seagulls on Coastal Cabana cardstock.  The chair is from a set of Thinlits called Seasonal Layers.  I love that Stampin’ Up! throws in miscellaneous dies sometimes.  The sentiment and the drink (I used Calypso Coral) are from Colorful Seasons stamp set which match the Seasonal Layers dies.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  We don’t show each other our creations before we post so it is always a surprise to see what amazing things they make.

High Tide & Eclectic Expression

I am beginning to wonder if winter will ever end.  We keep getting a tiny little taste of spring and then bam!  Winter arrives again as if you say “ha ha.  I fooled you again!”.  At least I can add a little spring and summer to my cards.

To make this card I used a stamp set called High Tide.  It is a two step stamp set which means it takes two or more stamps to make one image.  In this case I inked one of the lighthouse stamps with Basic Black and the other with Marina Mist.  It kind of makes it look like a shadow on the lighthouse.  I also stamped the birds and the grass in Marina Mist.  Then I lightly sponged with some more Marina Mist Ink.  The beam of light is So Saffron.

The sentiment is from Eclectic Expressions.  This is a stamp set you can get for free with a $50 order.  It is a fun set with some sentiments, splatters and fun blobs.  I inked it with Basic Black.

There are only a few more days left for Sale-a-bration so don’t forget to place your order before it is too late.  It all ends March 31st.

Longing For Sunshine

I suppose every place you live (well except maybe Hawaii) has its good weather and its bad weather.  Right now is the hardest time of year for us.  I don’t think I have seen the sun in weeks (or months) and it is very dreary.  Today it is pouring rain so the world is a big slushy, muddy mess.  Ask me again in July or August and I will have a whole different outlook.  It is so beautiful up here during the summer months.  I just wish they lasted longer!

This dreary weather made me think of Florida and wishing I was there.  It would be awesome to be sitting on the beach, under the tiki bar awning and having a Pina Colada.  The best I could do is come up with a card that represents that idea.

I made this card using a bunch of different products and stamp sets.  The glass is cut out of Color Theory Designer Series Paper using the Coffee Cups Framelits.  The umbrella is from Weather Together and Umbrella Weather Framelits.  The orange is from the stamp set called Lemon Zest and punched out using the matching Lemon Builder Punch.  The seagulls are from High Tide and last but not least, the sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  It just goes to show you that Stampin’ Up! products are great to mix and match!

Now let’s just hope for better weather soon!

High Tide

High Tide, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is the second card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It uses a stamp set in the 2017 Occasions Catalog called High Tide.  I love this set.  It is so New England!  It is a two step  stamp set which means you actually use two different stamps to make one image.  In this case, the lighthouse uses the two step stamps.  I inked one of the stamps in Marina Mist and stamped it on a scrap piece of paper first and then on the cardstock.  This made it is a little lighter than just stamping it directly onto the card stock.  Then I inked the second stamp with Marina Mist but did not stamp off this time.  It is really easy to line up the stamps because they are Photopolymer which means they are clear so you can see through them.

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is Friday ~ my favorite day of the week!  It is the day Buffy, Jackie and I participate in our Stamp Off Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge (which is also my favorite challenge).  I find sketch challenges the easiest because all you need to do it fit your stamps and paper into the sketch.

january-13

Here is my card:

High Tide, Birthday Banners, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I used a new stamp set called High Tide to make this card.  It is a set that is in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The lighthouse is a two step stamp.  This is when you stamp once with one stamp and then stamp again with another stamp over the first one.  It makes the image look kind of 3D.  The sentiment is from Birthday Banners which coordinates with the the Framelits called Bunch Of Banners.  The “water” is Designer Series Paper called By The Shore.

Now let’s go over to see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I always love to see how they interpret one of our challenges.
