Hydrangea Haven

There is a technique called “No Line Coloring” that I have seen so many beautiful samples of that I decided to try it myself.  This technique is where you use rubber (or photopolymer) stamps to make an image but you can’t really see the outline of the image so it looks like you just colored it using markers, pencils, Blends, etc.

To make a “No Line” image I first stamped the Hydrangea from the stamp set called Hydrangea Haven using Smoky Slate ink and stamped off once on a piece of scrap paper and then I stamped it on Basic White cardstock.  You could hardly see the lines (which is obviously the point).  Then I used my Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather Blend to color the flower part.  This totally covered up all the Smoky Slate ink and makes it look like you just colored Hydrangea flowers on a piece of card stock.  I did the same thing using Old Olive Blends for the leaves and stem.

Here is a close up of the Hydrangea flower.  You can’t even see where I stamped the image using the Smoky Slate ink up close.

After coloring the flower I then backed it with some Fresh Freesia card stock and a piece of the 2021-2023 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in Fresh Freesia.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Lots Of Heart in Basic Gray ink to soften it a little and cut it out using the Banners Pick A Punch on one end.  This stamp set is in the January – June Mini Catalog and is retiring on June 30th so if you like, you need to order it before the end of this month.  It has coordinating dies called Many Hearts and you can still save 10% if you order them both in a bundle.  Lastly I added some Pastel Pearls.

You should try “No Line Coloring”.  It is a fun technique to do.

Use That Designer Series Paper!

When the 2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog came out I fell in love with a lot of the Designer Series Paper.  I mean, who could resist?  It was all gorgeous.  Then when the 2021 Holiday Mini Catalog came out.  I loved a lot of the DSP in that catalog.  Once again, when the January – June Mini Catalog came out, I had to have even more.  I made a vow to start using all my Designer Series Paper more than I usually do.  I hate cutting that first piece.  I keep thinking if I cut a piece out now, what will happen if I need a whole sheet later?  It is a crazy way to think but most stampers have a little craziness in them anyway.

Of course now that all the DSP I purchased is retiring very soon and I still had a lot left over.  So I decided I was going to use a lot of it in the next two weeks.  A lot of it!  I made these three simple cards the other day.  It was a good start.

Stampin Up Designer Series Paper I used the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper for this first card.  It is so beautiful and even nicer in person.  I first took a card base of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, folded it in half and cut an inch off on side.  I layered a piece of the DSP on the inside of the card and another piece on the outside.  I stamped the sentiment (which is from an old Paper Pumpkin kit because I didn’t have a Happy Mother’s Day stamp.  Can you believe that??) in Gorgeous Grape Ink and then colored the flowers and leaves using a Seaside Spray and Old Olive Stampin Blends.  Then I cut it out using the Layering Ovals (also retiring on May 3rd).  I cut a larger oval out of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and the larger scalloped oval out of Purple Posy.

For this next card I used Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper Series Paper.  I layered a 4″ x 5.25″ piece over a card base of Pool Party.  I used the Floral Gallery die to cut “just wanted to say” in So Saffron card stock and I stamped the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set in Night Of Navy ink and cut it out using another die from Floral Gallery.  The DSP speaks for itself on this card so I didn’t think it needed much more.

I also used the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper for this last card.  I cut two 1″ strips of the flowers and adhered them to the sides of a Basic White card base.  I then added the Pumpkin Pie piece of DSP in the middle.  The fern is from Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.  These cut outs are gold on one side and white on the other.  They are beautiful.  They are also retiring.  Sigh.  So many beautiful papers are retiring.  I stamped the sentiment from Many Messages and cut it out using the coordinating die Messages.  The stamp is one big stamp and so is the die.

Do you have a lot of Designer Series Paper that you are afraid to cut?  You need to just do it.  It is beautiful and it makes gorgeous, easy cards.

Hydrangea Haven

Stampin Up Hydrangea Haven

Hydrangea Hill is a suite of products that are in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog.  This suite includes the stamp set called Hydrangea Haven, coordinating dies called Hydrangea, absolutely gorgeous Designer Series Paper called Hydrangea Hill, beautiful ribbon, Mercury Acetate in different colors and Pastel Pearls.  The pearls are so soft and pretty and come in four different colors.

To make this card, I first used an oval mask (or stencil) I have and put it over a piece of Basic White card stock.  I used some removable tape to keep the cardstock and the mask in place.  I used my Blending Brushes with Seaside Spray Ink and added color to the card stock.  I did it a little darker around the edges and lighter in the middle to give it some depth.

Next I stamped the Hydrangea in Memento Black Ink and colored the leaves in Just Jade using Stampin’ Up!® Blends.   I stamped the flower part of the die again, colored it using my Dark and Light Highland Heather Blends and then cut that out using a different die in the Hydrangea set.  This die cuts out the outline of the flower plus it partially cuts out some of the little flowers within the outline.  Then is bent up the flowers so it looks 3D.  Here is what it looks like up close.

I adhered the flower to the Basic White card stock, stamped the sentiment in Memento Black ink and then added some of the Pastel Pearls.

Hydrangea Haven stamp set and the coordinating dies are being carried over to the new Annual Catalog that begins on May 4th.  Seaside Spray ink is retiring so if you like it, you need to order it before that date or before they run out of stock.

Hydrangea Haven

Whenever I first get a new Stampin’ Up!® catalog I always do a quick run through and write down everything I want.  The problem with that is almost all the products go on that list!  Then I wait a couple of days and go through it again.  Some things on the original list get crossed off completely.  Some of them go on the maybe list.  Then I go through it again and put some things back on the list and take others off.  As you can see, I have a hard time decided what to buy.  The Hydrangea Hill Suite was always on my yes list.

Hydrangeas, irises and roses are my favorite flowers so when I saw this, it was definitely a must have set.  One of the things that Stampin’ Up!® now does is give you one item number for all the products in a suite.  It is such an awesome idea because you don’t have to enter all the different numbers.  One number gets you everything!  I will warn you ahead of time that you will see this suite many, many times on my blog because I love it.

To make this card, I took a piece of of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper and adhered it to a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and then onto a Basic White card base.  I stamped the flower using Memento Black Ink and then colored it using my Dark and Light Old Olive, Dark Seaside Spray and Light Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blends.  Blue Hydrangeas are my favorite although I love all of the colors they come in.   I cut that out using the coordinating Hydrangea dies and then layered it onto Basic White and Mossy Meadow cardstock. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive ink.  If you don’t want to order the entire quite you can still get a 10% discount on the stamp set and die Bundle.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time where you can earn stamp sets or Designer Series Paper for free with a qualifying order.  It is also the best time to join Stampin’ Up!® because you get free Designer Series Paper with your starter kit.
