In Symmetry

Stampin Up In Symmetry

If you have been following me at all, you will know that I love big and bold.  The includes stamped images, dies and sentiments.  It is not to say that I don’t like smaller ones but I just LOVE big ones.  The  Suite called Sweet Symmetry includes the stamp set called In Symmetry and it immediately caught my eye the first time I saw it because the images and sentiments are big and bold.  Plus it has coordinating Designer Series Paper  called Sweet Symmetry that is bright and colorful, a coordinating punch called Symmetrical Stems Border Punch and Flirty Flamingo Gold Metallic Ribbon.

To make this card I first layered a piece of the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper onto a piece of Night of Navy card stock and then a Daffodil Delight card base.  Then I took a 4″ x 2.75″ piece of Basic White cardstock and stamped the flowers and stems in Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and NIght Of Navy ink.  I layered this on top of the DSP but thought it needed a bit more so I added the small piece of Night Of Navy card stock to the bottom.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment on a small rectangle of Basic White card stock.

So we finally left the cottage and made our way back to Nashville.  It is funny.  People ask me which is my favorite place and I have to say both.  The summers are the best at the Lake but we love being in Nashville too.  Anyway, I took this photograph one of our last nights at the cottage.  The flag was half mast because it was 9/11.  It was one of the most beautiful sunsets of the summer.

In Symmetry Fun Fold

Stampin Up In Symmetry

I haven’t done a fun fold in a long time so I decided it was needed.  I love fun folds because when you send one to someone it is fun to open.  I love getting cards in the mail but then when I open it and it does something different, I love it even more.  Most fun folds have a name but honestly, I have not clue what this one is called.  I am going to call it a Pocket Card Fun Fold.   I made one like it years ago and thought it would be fun to do again.  This card is considered a fun fold because the card does not open but instead you pull out the “inside of the card” from the top.

Stampin Up In Symmetry

To make this card I started with a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Just Jade card stock.  To make the pocket, I took a piece of Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper and cut it to 5.5″ x 12″. I scored it at 4″ and 8″. I made a light pencil mark 2″ down on each side and cut from the score line to the pencil mark on both sides.  I cut off a tiny sliver on each side so it would close better.   Then I took a piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the left edge and the bottom of both side flaps and then closed it.  This is what it looks like.

Stampin Up Pocket Card

Close the right flap and then close the left one over the right one.

The flower on the front of the card is from the stamp set called In Symmetry.  I stamped the flower in Daffodil Delight and the stem and leaves in Just Jade.  I stamped the sentiment in Night Of Navy ink.  This stamp set has a coordinating punch called Symmetrical Stems Border Punch.  If you purchase both the stamp set and the punch you can save 10%.  I did not use the punch on this card but it is very cute!

Next I made the inside tag using a 3.5″ x 4.75″ piece of Just Jade card stock and 3.25″ x 4.5″ piece of Basic White.  I added a small strip of Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper.  The “hole” is actually a die from the Seasonal Labels Die set.  I took a piece of Just Jade & Gold 3/8″ Braided Ribbon and tied a piece of White Baker’s Twine around it.
