Cool Treats

Today is my eldest son, David’s birthday.  I am having a hard time believing how quickly time goes and that he is 38 years old.  Of course, this means I had him at 12 but that is another story.  David is a sweet, warm and generous man.  He doesn’t like to admit that because he would rather come off as a tough guy but his family knows the truth.  He was also the best baby ever.  He slept right through the night the first day home from the hospital, rarely cried and was easy to raise.  Well at least until he turned nine.  I almost gave him away that year!

I made this card using the stamp set called Cool Treats.  This set has matching Framelits called Frozen Treats.  Both of these items are retiring May 31st.  This makes  me sad because it truly is one of my favorite sets.  It is just fun and summery!  I stamped the cone of the ice cream onto Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using the Lots Of Labels Framelits (**edited to add that these Framelits are no longer available***).  Then I cut out a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using a bigger Framelit.

The colors I used for this card are Peekaboo Peach (also retiring), Lemon Lime Twist, and Crumb Cake.  The Designer Series Paper is called Picture Perfect Party.  It is 6″ x6″ and is in the Occasions Catalog. This paper will also be gone come May 31st.

Here are some more cards I made previously using this set in case you need more reasons to buy it before it disappears forever. If you would like to see the details of these cards just click on the Select Category bar and search for Cool Treats.  It will bring up all my past posts I made using this set.

Happy Birthday, David!!

Wetlands Is Staying!

Wetlands

I am so happy that the stamp set called Wetlands is being carried over into the Stamping’ Up! 2016/2017 Annual Catalog.  I love those pipers!  They are all over the beaches in Florida.  They chase the waves when they go out and are so cute to watch.

This was a pretty easy card to make.  I used sponges for the background.  You just pat the sponge on the ink pad and rub it across the card stock.  The more you do it, the darker the color gets.  I used Crumb Cake for the sand, Marina Mist and Pool Party for the water and So Saffron for the sky.

The sentiment was cut out using the Lots Of Labels Framelits.  They are also being carried over into the new catalog!

One Big Meaning

One Big Meaning

Lately I have been trying to find new color combinations that I like.  One of my favorites is Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight.  I am sure you already knew that since I post so many cards with that color combination!  In any case, one thing I discovered (or finally realized) is Stampin’ Up! already has a ton of beautiful color combinations.  All you need to do is to look at their Designer Series Paper to see this.

This particular color combination uses a new In Color called Watermelon Wonder and Crushed Curry.  I love it!  The Designer Series Paper this comes from is called Cherry On Top.  I think this combination is beautiful and plan on using it a lot!

The sentiment I used is from a new stamp set called One Big Meaning.  It has seven different stamps all saying thank you in different fonts and words.  I love the one I used for this card.  It looks very elegant to me.  I used the new set of Framelits called Lots Of Labels to cut the sentiment out.

Madelyn looks like a little angel here.  According to her mommy and daddy, she is not quite the angel she appears to be!  I think they must be fibbing because how could this child be anything but??
