Gift Card Envelope Thinlit Box

Gift Card Envelope Thinlit

One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! is that they come out with a new product that is terrific and useful but then they come out with other ideas to use the product that is not so obvious to uncreative people like me.  I made the top of this box using the new Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlit Dies.  I used the awesome Designer Series Paper called Under The Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is thicker than regular DSP so it is perfect to make boxes with.

To make the box you just need to cut a piece of cardstock or Designer Series Paper 6 7/8″ x 5 9/16″.  Score this at 1 1/2″ on all four sides.  Then cut the flaps and adhere using a strong adhesive such as Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue. Then cut another piece of using the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits Die for the top.

Box Made With Envelope Punch Board

DSC01779

At the December meeting of my stamp club, I showed the ladies a box I had made using the Envelope Punch Board.  We didn’t have time to make one but I told them I would put the directions on my blog for them.  Believe it or not, every single one of my members purchased this and they all love it!

To make this box you use a piece of 8 x 8 card stock or Designer Series Paper and put it into the Envelope Punch Board at the 3 inch mark.  Punch and then score a line.

Turn the paper do it again. I drew lines with a pen so you could see it in the photograph better.DSC01764

Then move the paper so the previous score is lined up with the pointy thingy (how is that for a technical term!) and then punch and score again.

Turn your card stock and repeat these steps until you have gone all the way around.  Your card stock should look like this (without the pen lines).

Then cut each tab at one end so your card stock looks like this.

Then crease your paper at all the score lines using your Bone Folder to make each fold crisp.

Then just fold it into a box shape and tie a pretty ribbon around it.  The finished box is 3.75 wide and 1.25 inches high.

Box With Gift Cards & Creped Filter Paper Flower

When I was at Leadership 2013 this year,  one of presenters showed us how to make a 3 x 3 box to hold 4 3×3 cards with envelopes.  The box itself is made out of one piece of 7.5 x 7.5 inch card stock.  It is a great gift to give a hostess, a friend or use as a prize.

I changed my version of the box to have a belly band go around it and then added a flower made from Stampin Up’s Creped Fiilter Paper from the Spring Catalog.  I then made 4 matching cards using the Sale-a-bration punch called Petite Curly Label and the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Pretty Petites.  You can get both of these items for FREE! with a qualifying order until March 22nd!  I also used the matching punch from the catalog called Curly Label.
