Simply Stars Birthday Card

DSC01732

When in doubt, you can always use stars for a masculine birthday card.  Who doesn’t like stars?  They are red, white & blue American apple pie.  Wait.  As usual I think I may have my cliches all mixed up but you get the idea.  One really nice thing about stars is that they are pretty easy to cut out so if you don’t have a punch, it is not going to be difficult.

For this card I used the stamp set called Simply Stars.  Then I used Gorgeous Grunge in the background to give them a little texture.  The Let’s Celebrate stamp is from Make A Wish.

Don’t forget about the Holiday Sale going on now through December 2nd!!

Time For A Celebration

DSC01386

I know I have said this many times in the past, but Stampin Up! really does have the best colors.  They are fresh and vibrant and you could pick just about any three of them and they will look great together.  If you have any trouble trying to pick out your colors, Stampin Up! also sell a Color Coach that will tell you what colors look good together.  This combination is not in the Color Coach but it could be.

In a post in the past, I showed you how to make banners easily.  If you don’t remember you can click HERE is see the post.  In that example I used the Heart Punch, buy you can do the same thing with the Hexagon Punch or a Sqaure Punch.  It makes it so much easier.

Pocket Card With My Digital Studio

DSC01350

Sometimes you just don’t have a stamp set that meets your needs.  To make a very long story short, when one of my kids has a birthday, I always call them and say “it’s your birthday”.  Some rapper used to sing a song that kept saying that over and over so now I drive my kids crazy with it.  It is one of those “you have to be there” stories to understand.  Sometimes it is ok to drive your kids crazy.

Stampin Up! does not make a stamp that says “it’s your birthday” so I used My Digital Studio to make my own.  It was so easy to do.  I just had to type it, change the color to Gumball Green and print it.  I even had a digital download of the Chevron Border Punch which I added to the bottom.

When you pull on the ribbon, this is what the inside of the card looks like:

The cake is from the stamp set called Make a Wish and the celebrate is from Embellished Events.

I used the stamp set Make A Wish from the Occasions Catalog to make this card.  It is a great set to have for birthdays as well as to use as invitations to any kind of party.

Make A Wish Z-Fold Card

This card uses a fun fold called the Z-Fold.  It is actually a very simple card to make even though it looks complicated.  It uses a piece of card stock that is 5 1/2 x 12 inches.  Then you score it at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″.  Put a pencil mark at 3″ from the bottom on both ends and cut it from the 4″ score mark to the pencil mark and then the 8″ score mark to the other pencil mark.  Then decorate and you are done!  I put a belly band around the card to keep it closed.  The band is 1 1/4″ x 9 1/4″.  Score it at the 2 1/2″ mark and the 6 5/8″  mark.

For my card I used the stamp set from the Occasions Catalog called Make A Wish.  This is a great all around birthday stamp set.  You can use it for invitations, birthday cards or any kind of celebration.  I used the Chevron Embossing Folder on the background and the balloons were punched using the Small Oval Punch.
