Good Morning Magnolia

Today is my mother’s 95th birthday.  Not only is she 95 but she is healthy and lives (fairly) independently.  By fairly I mean she lives in a little cottage by herself in an independent living facility.  She is the queen of the place and everyone knows her.  She is truly amazing.  I thought this card was appropriate for her because she is like a rainbow of color wherever she goes.

To make this card I first stamped the background using the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Then I took different colored scraps and cut pieces that are 1/2″ wide.  The colors I used are Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape.  I just realized I used every color in the Brights family except Melon Mambo!  I adhered these strips to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using a die from the Stitched Rectangles set.  I popped this up using Dimensionals.

Lastly, I cut the word Happy from the Merry Christmas die set in Basic Black and stamped the worth birthday from the stamp set called A Wish For Everything.

Happy Birthday, Mom!  I hope your day is as great as you are!

Non Traditional Christmas Color Challenge

Hello everyone.  Today is another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge was to make a Christmas card using non-traditional colors.  I decided to go with Smoky Slate and Flirty Flamingo.  That is about as non-traditional as you can do!

To make this card, I used the stamp set called So Many Stars along with the matching dies called Stitched Stars.  Remember, you can save 10% until the end of this month if you buy this set in a Bundle.  I know the star dies are carrying over but the stamp set is not so if you like it, now is the time to purchase it.  I also used the die set called Stitched Rectangles and another called Merry Christmas.  This is where the big “Merry” came from.

I first took a piece of Flirty Flamingo Designer Series Paper from the Brights 6″ x 6″ collection and layered it on top of a card base of Smoky Slate.  Then I cut out the frame using the Stitched Rectangles Dies and adhered a piece of Whisper White cardstock in the middle.  I stamped the star and cut it out using the Stitched Stars Dies along with all the other stars.  I cut the sentiment from Smoky Slate cardstock and put it all together.

Now let’s go see what non-traditional colors Buffy and Jackie used.  Using different colors was fun!

Last Day To Get Free Designer Series Paper

The Magnolia Lane Suite in the 2019/2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual catalog is one of my favorite suites in the entire catalog.  It includes a stamp set called Good Morning Magnolia, Magnolia Memory Dies (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle), Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper (which is one of the packs you can get for free), ribbon, Memories & More cards and envelopes and more!

To make this card I first adhered the two different pieces of the Magnolia Lane DSP to a Mossy Meadow card base.  Then I stamped the flower in Basic Gray Ink and colored it using my Dark and Light Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Stampin Blends.  Then I cut that out using the Stitched Shapes dies.  I backed that with a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that I had cut out using the Layering Circles dies and adhered that to the card.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink and cut that out using the Merry Christmas die set.  I attached that to the card using Dimensionals.

Today is the last day to buy 3 select Designer Series Paper packs from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog and get 1 FREE!

Merry Christmas To All

I forgot to show the third card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting in November.  We made it using products from the All Is Bright Suite in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  The stamp set is called Merry Christmas To All.  It has a ton of different sentiments that all go with each other plus a label and some swishes.  Of course, they are matching dies called Merry Christmas Thinlits dies that have big sentiments (which you all know I love).

To make this I first cut out the “Merry” using the Thinlits from the Galvanized Metallic Paper and adhered it to an oval cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies in Whisper White cardstock.  Then I stamped the word Christmas onto Real Red cardstock with Versamark and embossed it using Stampin’ Emboss Powder in White and heating it with the Heat Tool.  The Merry Christmas Thinlits have a die that cut out the sentiment.  The Designer Series Paper is called Under The Mistletoe and is in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  Lastly I cut out two sprigs using the Sprig Punch and adhered them underneath the sentiment.  The card base is Old Olive cardstock.

Merry Christmas Thinlits

Here is a quick and easy but cute Christmas card you can make in a short time.

Plaid is very in this year and the Buffalo Check background stamp is perfect for making a plaid background in any color.  This stamp works best in your Stamparatus because if it doesn’t come out perfectly, you can just stamp it again and again until it does.  Unfortunately, I did not use my Stamparatus but instead inked the stamp facing up using Memento Ink and laid my Real Red cardstock on top and rubbed.  As you can see I miss a couple of spots but I thought it made it kind of rustic looking so I left it alone.

The sentiment is made from a couple of dies in the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies set with Silver Foil Sheets.  I love big fonts so I knew I had to purchase it.  There are four different words (the other two are Holidays and Happy) plus there are two dies that cut out the sentiments from the matching stamp set.  This stamp set is called Merry Christmas To All (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).

The snowflakes were cut out using the Blizzard Thinlits Die also using the Silver Foil Sheets.  I love this die because it cuts out a whole sheet of snowflakes at once.  You can use the snowflakes or the negative.  I used the negative on this card.

Merry Christmas To All

Surprise!  I bet you were expecting a Christmas card with that title.  Here is the problem. It is still sunny and in the high 70’s so I am having a hard time making Christmas cards right now.  Actually I am having a hard time making Halloween and Thanksgiving cards too.  I am not complaining.  If I had my way it would be sunny and in the 70’s all the time!  They say it is like that in Hawaii.  I might have to consider moving there.

One of the things I like to do is look at a stamp set (or die set) and see how it can be used in ways you wouldn’t normally use them in.  This is the case with the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies in the 2018 Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog. The dies cut out the words Merry, Christmas, Holidays and Happy.  Happy can be used year round!

To make this card I first cut a piece of the In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in Grapefruit Grove to 3.75 x 5. Then I cut that piece into four pieces and put them back together on a piece of Whisper White cardstock leaving the spaces.  I cut ‘Happy” out of Basic Black cardstock and then stamped “birthday” between the pieces.  This stamp comes from the set called Itty Bitty Greetings.  I masked off the word “happy” with tape.  It was a super easy card to make and only took a few minutes.

Blizzard Thinlits Die

s

Now that I have all the birthdays taken care of for a little bit, it is time to concentrate on the amazing 2018 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog that began September 1st.  There are so many fabulous products in this catalog that it was hard to choose which ones to get first and then choose which one to show first.

I decided to go with the Blizzard Thinlits Die.  This die has a matching stamp set (usually I am talking about these Bundles the other way around – stamp set first, then die) called Beautiful Blizzard.  I did not use the stamp set on this card but I did use the die.  The Blizzard Thinlits Die is one big die that cuts out a background of snowflakes.  I used it on Night Of Navy cardstock and then adhered it to a Balmy Blue card base. The die looks like this:

The sentiments  are from another new Bundle that is in the Holiday Catalog.  The stamp set is called Merry Christmas To All and has all the words you could ever want for a Holiday Card.  The matching Dies are called Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies.  It has four large words you can cut out as well as two label dies.

After cutting out all those snowflakes with one die I bet you are wondering what I did with them all.  Tune in on Monday to find out!
