Rooted In Nature

Rooted In Nature is a stamp set that has been in the catalog for a couple of years.  It replaced Lovely As A Tree (LAAT).  LAAT was an awesome stamp set but Rooted In Nature is even better.  Why?  Because it has matching dies called Nature’s Roots and cute little leaf embellishments called Leaves Trinkets.  Everyone loves dies and trinkets!

To make this card, I first took a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and rang it through my embossing and die cutting machine with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.  I layered that onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  Next I stamped the trees in Shaded Spruce ink onto Whisper White cardstock three times without re-inking inbetween.  It gives the trees a little depth by making it look like the lighter trees are behind the darker one.  I also stamped the leaves in Shaded Spruce and cut them out with the matching die.

If you look closely you can see the sentiment is on a stitched banner.  We don’t have stitched banners but I will tell you how I did it.  I first stamped the sentiment onto a piece of So Saffron cardstock and cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles.  Then I did this with the same die and ran it through my die cutting machine again:

It worked perfectly!

Rooted In Nature

Have you tried the new Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper yet?  It is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  It is absolutely beautiful and makes a great background for a card.  One side of the paper is Whisper White and one side is Very Vanilla.  I used one of the pieces from it on this card.

To make this card I first attached the piece of Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper on a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.  I used Multipurpose Glue to do this.  Then I stamped the tree and leaves from the stamp set called Rooted In Nature and cut them out using the matching Framelits called Nature’s Roots.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink and cut it out using an oval from the Stitched Shapes dies.  The last thing I did was color three droplets from the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets that are in the Holiday Catalog using my Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends.

Rooted In Nature

This year I made a vow to myself that I would use my Designer Series Paper more.  The packs of it usually retire at the end of the Stampin’ Up! year and I always have so much left.  It is totally psychological!  It is so hard to cut into that first piece.  I think to myself should I cut it in 6″ x6″ squares?  Maybe I should do 4″ by 6″ rectangles.  Wait, what if I need a 5.5″ x 4″ landscape piece for a card?  What if I decide to use it for a Club or workshop and I don’t have enough because I already used it on a card?   I usually end up putting it back because I just can’t decide.  I know.  First world problems!

In any case I am using my Designer Series Paper this year.  I am going to use it all up!  Ok, that is probably a lie but I am going to try to use it all up.

In this case I cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece from Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper.  Then I cut that in half and used both halves on this card.  I stamped the sentiment from Rooted In Nature in black and backed it with a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock.  I cut the Mint Macaron leaves out using the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies and then embossed them with one of the embossing dies.  I love that Stampin’ Up! has embossing dies in so many of their sets.

Can you see how DSP adds so much dimension to a card?  Use your Designer Series Paper!  That is what it is for!

Sorry For Everything

Sorry For Everything is a stamp set that everyone needs to own.  The set is all sentiments without any images.  It covers sympathy for people and pets, belated birthday, get well and many other reasons someone might say sorry.  I am not sure I like the name of the set but the set itself is great.  When someone says “sorry for everything” it usually means a lot of bad things happened and no one likes to go there.

The colors I used for this card are Tranquil Tide and Mint Macaron.  The leaf is from Rooted In Nature (another must have set) which has matching dies called Nature’s Roots.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I said this before but this Bundle is so amazing it puts Lovely As A Tree to shame.

The Designer Series Paper is also part of the Nature’s Poem Suite and is called Nature’s Poem (well that makes sense!).

Don’t forget August is Bonus Days.  This means that you get a $5 coupon for every $50 you spend.  The coupon can then be redeemed during the month of September.  There is no limit to how many coupons you can earn.  If you spend $100 you get two coupons.  If you spend $150, you get three coupons.  If you spend $1,000, I will love you (and you will get a lot of coupons (20) and free stuff!!).  Plus spending $1000 will make me reach my 2018 sales goal of $100,000 in sales!  Truly, any order in August would be great so I can reach my goal!

Rooted In Nature

Rooted in Nature is one of why favorite stamp sets in the catalog.  It is also a favorite with my customers.  It has SIXTEEN stamps in this seta ll of which are gorgeous and to top it all off, it has a set of matching dies called Nature’s Root Framelits (you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  These dies are different than your normal set of dies. Yes, they cut out some of the stamped images but they also have some dies that emboss!  Stampin’ Up! has really been upping their game with these new dies in the catalog.

This card is very simple to make.  I stamped the leaves in Blackberry Bliss in and then cut them out using the matching die.  I placed the on Whisper White cardstock and stamped the sentiment in the corner also using Blackberry Bliss ink.  I let like it needed something so I added some Faceted Dots in Mint Macaron and put a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock behind the Whisper White.  It didn’t take long at all!

Rooted In Nature

This is a fun technique I got from Jennifer McGuire.  Everyone in the stamping world knows who Jennifer McGuire is.  She is extremely talented and makes everything look very easy.  She does these easy to follow videos so you can see how to do something step by step.  She calls this technique Step Back Stamping.  This is where the stamped images are set back from their coordinating die cuts.

To make this card I first stamped the tree from Rooted In Nature onto Whisper White A2 (5.5″ x 8.5″) cardstock folded in half with Tranquil Tide ink .  I used my Stamparatus to do this because you need to stamp it twice in the same place. Without moving the stamp I took a piece of Soft Sea Foam the same size as my whisper white card (5.5″ x 4.25″) stamped it again with my Stamparatus.  Then I cut the piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock to 1.75″ high so it is now 1.75″ x 5.5″.  You end up cutting part of the tree off which is what you want to do.  After this you take the matching die from Nature’s Roots Framelits and cut out the tree from the Soft Sea Foam cardstock.  Then you use Dimensionals to adhere the Sea Foam pieces over the Whisper White cardstock.

The sentiment is from Love What You Do.

A Sketch Stamp Off Challenge With Rooted In Nature

Good morning!  It is Friday which means it is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time we have a sketch challenge given to us by Jackie.

Here is my card:

I decided to use the new stamp set (and everyone’s favorite) from the 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog called Rooted In Nature.  This stamp set is kind of liked Lovely As A Tree, which has been around forever, but on steroids!  It is an awesome set that has sixteen stamps in it.  This includes 4 tree stamps, some leaves and a few sentiments.  The best part of this is it has matching Framelits called Nature’s Roots!  No more fussy cutting the trees from Lovely As A Tree!  It is fabulous!

To make this card I first stamped each of the images in Night Of Navy Ink.  Then I just backed them in a piece of Night Of Navy cardstock.  It was very simple to make.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Nature’s Poem and is included in this Suite of Products.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using this sketch.

Rooted In Nature

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly stamp club meeting on Wednesday.  I have to say, I just love this group of ladies.  Some of them have been with me since the beginning (2008) and others have just joined but they all get along so well and we have a great time.

We used a new stamp set from the new 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It is called Rooted In Nature and is absolutely gorgeous.  It is kind of like Lovely As A Tree but stepped up and even better.  It also has a set of matching dies called Nature’s Roots and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

Actually both of these items are part of a suite called Nature’s Poem.  The Suite includes the stamp set and dies plus it has Designer Series Paper, ribbon, cardstock and these adorable metal leaves called Leaves Trinkets.  They come in silver and copper.  You can see what they look like on the card.

The color I used to make this card is Tranquil Tide.  The Designer Series Paper is called Nature’s Poem and the twine is called Nature’s Twine.  You get four colors in the pack (Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove and Mint Macaron.

Here is a video that Stampin’ Up! made showing you the Nature’s Roots Bundle:

More OnStage Sneak Peeks

Yesterday I showed you two of the cards I made while I attended OnStage a couple of weeks ago.  Here are two more.

The first one is made using the Suite called Delightfully Detailed.  It includes cardstock from a set of Notecards called Delightfully Detailed Notecards and Envelopes.  These cards are Very Vanilla with a splash of either Mint Macaron or Blackberry Bliss of color on the front.  By the way, both Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss are colors that will be in the new 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  We covered that with a piece of Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cur Specialty Paper.  It is Very Vanilla on one side and Whisper White on the other. This paper is very delicate and beautiful.  Of course, as I am typing this I realized I used the Whisper White side instead of the Very Vanilla.  Oops!  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Detailed With Love and it has a matching punch called Detailed Trio Punch.  Also included in this sweet is the 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon that you can see peeking behind the sentiment, Faceted Dots and a Memories & More Card Pack.  The colors used on this card are Mint Macaron, Grapefruit Grove (a new InColor) and Very Vanilla.

This next card uses my most favorite stamp set and dies in the entire catalog.  If you love Lovely As A Tree, you are going to love this set even more!  It is part of a Suite called Nature’s Poem.  The stamp set is called Rooted in Nature and it has matching Framelits called Nature’s Roots.

The Suite includes the stamp set and dies,Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper, Leaves Trinkets (which come in copper and silver) and matching cardstock.
