Ornate Thanks Slimline Card

Stampin Up Ornate Thanks

I received this card in the mail from my friend and downline, Char. Char and I have known each other for at least 30 years.  We met when I decided to stay home with my kids after my youngest son, Zachary was born.  She was looking for childcare for her three children so I decided to start watching other kids in my home.  It was actually a perfect idea because all the kids played together.  Char made this card for me after we spent a great day on the lake.

Here is a picture of our time on the boat.  It was such fun!

I love the new slimline cards everyone is making.  I actually made one (which I will show you later) and sent it to Char thanking her for my birthday cake.  She makes the most amazing chocolate zucchini cake.  It is so rich it doesn’t need frosting and is definitely my favorite cake of all time.

Char’s card is 3.75″ x 8.75″. She used the stamp set called Ornate Thanks.  She stamped the sentiment is Pretty Peacock ink and cut it out using the dies called Ornate Labels.  These dies are perfect for making slimline cards.  The Designer Series Paper she used is called Forever Greenery.  It is beautiful paper with beautiful colors.  Char even made a matching envelope for her card.  It was such a nice surprise to get it in the mail!

Thank you, Char!  💙💚💛

Ornate Garden Suite

In the last couple of weeks I have shown you cards I received from a swap with my class members and Downline.  This is the card I made to send to them.  It uses products from the Ornate Garden Suite that will be in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  This suite contains two stamp sets, two sets of dies, Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  It is the suite that is available for everyone to buy now (before the catalog actually comes out).

To make this card, I first stamped the flower from the Ornate Style stamp set using Memento Black Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I colored the middle of the flower using a Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends and the leaves using a Mint Macaron Blends.  Then I cut it out using a die from the Stitched Rectangles dies set.  I backed that with a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock I had cut out using the Ornate Layers Dies.  These dies are gorgeous and very intricate.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Ornate Thanks and cut that out using the Stitched Rectangles.  The Designer Series Paper is called Ornate Garden Specialty Paper.  I added a piece of Mint Macaron 1/4″ Textile Ribbon.  This ribbon is retiring on June 2nd. I decided at the last minute to add the little Basic Adhesive Backed Sequin to the corner.

Ornate Thanks

Here is a quick and easy card I made with a new Suite called Ornate Garden.  This Suite is going to be in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  Stampin’ Up!® decided to release it early as a kind of sneak peek to some products that will be in this new catalog which starts in June.  The Suite has two stamp sets, two sets of dies, some Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  You can purchase both stamp sets with their coordinating dies as bundles and save 10% but you can still mix and match everything as I did with this card.  To make it even more fun, the Designer Series Paper has a new InColor in it called Bumblebee so you get a sneak peek of that too.

To make this card I used the stamp set called Ornate Thanks.  The matching dies to this stamp set is called Ornate Borders but I didn’t use them.  Instead I chose to use the dies called Ornate Layers.  I first cut out a  4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP and adhered that to a Whisper White card base.  I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive Ink and cut it out using another one of the dies in the Ornate Layers set that is a stitched rectangle.  I also cut out the fancy background die using the same set in Old Olive cardstock and layered them together using Stampin Dimensionals.  It was a super easy card to make because of the great products I used.

Here are the products that are included in this Suite:

Ornate Garden

As you know I had to pack up all my stamping supplies in February because we put our house on the market.  Prior to putting everything away, I made 58 cards so I could still post on my blog.  That was a lot of cards but most of them are pretty simple so it wasn’t too hard.

Stampin’ Up!® released a new Suite of products that will be in the upcoming Annual Catalog.  They made these products called Ornate Garden available for Demonstrators to purchase in March and customers in April.  I was really itching to use this new suite and do a little stamping during our “stay at home” time.  I managed to find my Brights & Subtles Ink Pads, a handful of Blends and my Stampin Write Markers.  I was in business!  Oh wait.  This is what my cardstock racks look like.

Then I remembered I had packed some cardstock away to take to the cottage when we go in May.  I was able to find that box so I was in business again.  Oh wait.  I could not find my blocks.  Sigh.  So I looked around and saw my Big Shot with it’s plates with the cottage stuff too.  So I just used a plate to stamp with.  Honestly, I do not recommend this.  After using your plates for a while (as you can see mine are well loved), they get a little plastic dust on them.  Now the back of my stamp has plastic dust particles on it.  I probably can wash it but in any case it did work!  I did run to the cottage that afternoon and grabbed 3 blocks I had left there last year.  I also found a Snail (which I totally forgot about needing) so then I could put the card together.

So this is what my very sad stamping space looks like right now.The drawers are all empty. All my other storage has been put away so this is all I have left out.

In any case, I managed to make this card.  I first stamped the flowers image from the stamp set called Ornate Style in Memento Black Ink and then colored it with my Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green Light and Dark Stampin’ Up!® Blends.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Ornate Thanks over the top.  It is a very simple card but I enjoyed stamping again!
