Blackberry Beauty

Welcome to another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This week our challenge is to use the Colors Of Fall.  I actually made three cards using the Colors Of Fall.  I wrote an entire blog post for this challenge and then I changed my mind and decided to use this card that I made with the gorgeous Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper.  If you don’t have  this paper, you need to get it.  It is in the 2021 July – December Mini Catalog.  The paper uses the colors Blackberry Bliss, Cinnamon Cider and gold foil. It is just beautiful! You can click on the link below to see a close up of it.

Here is the card I made:

Stampin Up Blackberry Beauty

This card was very simple to make but I think it is very elegant.  I first adhered a piece of the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper to a Blackberry Bliss card base.  After that I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments using Versamark Ink.  I embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool.  One trick I learned is if you heat the embossing powder from behind it does not warp the card stock as much but still melts the powder perfectly.    I repeated that step two more times in order to make the sentiment stand out more.  It is really easy to stamp something a few times in the same position using a Stamparatus because if you put the card stock in the same place each time, the sentiment will stamp in the same place.

After embossing the sentiment three times I cut it out using a die from Tailor Made Tags.  This die set cuts out eight different sized tags in two different designs.  I cut out the feather from the die set called Nature’s Thoughts in Gold Foil and adhered it to the tag using Stampin Dimensionals.  Then I tied a piece of gold Baker’s Twine (retired) and adhered the tag to the card.

Now, let’s go see what colors Buffy and Jackie used for their cards.  I am sure they will be beautiful!

Another Mystery Parts Using Forever & Always

My Downline and I have done another Mystery Parts event (thanks again, Diana Gibbs).  This is where one of us sends card making parts to the others in the group and we make a card out of them.  We send the cardstock, Designer Series Paper and an embellishment or two.  Each of us has to use our own stamps and we can add anything we want to it as long as we use the parts that were sent.

Here is a photograph of the parts:

Stampin Up Forever & Always

I sent them each some Night Of Navy  and Basic White cardstock, a piece of the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper which is in the 2021 Sale-a-bration Catalog and a piece of twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.

Here is my card.

Stampin Up Forever & Always

Whenever I decide to purchase a stamp set or bundle, I try to see if there are more than one way to use it.  Can it be used for birthdays and thanks?  Anniversaries and Valentines?  Sympathy and hello?  You get the picture.  When I first saw the stamp set called Forever and Always and the coordinating dies called Always I fell in love with the dies.  I love big word dies!  Although the words love and always are normally associated with anniversaries and Valentines, I realized the flowers can be used anytime and the words can be used for my grandchildren!  It was just the excuse I needed to buy it.  I have already made a card for my granddaughter, Emy, which I will show sometime in the future.

To make this card I first cut a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of the Sale-a-bration Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper.  You can get this paper for FREE with a qualifying order until February 28th.  As a matter of fact, if you purchase the Forever & Always Bundle (you’ll save 10% by doing this) and Memento Ink, Stampin Blends or a pack of cardstock, you will be able to get this Designer Series Paper for free!  Then I stamped the three flowers in Memento Black Ink and colored them with Rococo Rose Stampin Blends.  I stamped the leaves in Garden Green ink and then cut everything out using the coordinating dies.  The sentiment is from that stamp set called Peaceful Moments which is in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.

Here are the other cards the ladies made using these products.  I love how each one came out differently.

This one is Lynette’s.

This is Char’s.

This is Kim’s.

This is Karen’s.

Prized Peony

Stampin Up Prized Peony

I had a little mini one person stamping class a couple of months ago at the cottage.  I showed one of my next door neighbors how to stamp.  She has stamped years ago but everything has changed so much that she wanted to try it again.  I showed you a couple of simple cards we made a while ago.  She was pretty excited about it and wanted to learn some other things such as die cutting and embossing so this was the card we made.

I first stamped the flower in Petal Pink ink onto Petal Pink cardstock and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments in Versamark and embossing it using Silver Embossing Powder.  Then I cut that out using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I layered this on top of a piece of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  Lastly I added a piece of Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon.  It was a simple card to make but it showed a lot of the techniques she wanted to learn.

Many Medallions

Stampin Up Many Medallions

I needed to make a wedding card for someone and I found out their colors were very similar to some Stampin’ Up! colors so I decided to use them for the card.  I wished I had saved the photo of their wedding but now I can’t find it but just know they were Calpyso Coral, Petal Pink with a touch of Coastal Cabana.

To make this card I first cut out two pieces using the Many Medallions die set.  The first one was in Petal Pink and the second one in Coastal Cabana.  I adhered the Petal Pink one to a Calypso Coral card base and then glued the tiny pieces of Coastal Cabana in the slots.  First a disclaimer.  Do not try this at home.  Although I love how it turned out, it took a very, very long time to glue all those tiny pieces inside the medallion.  They are all not the same size which made it a bit harder.  My suggestion is to cut a piece of cardstock (I used Coastal Cabana) and adhere the large Petal Pink die cut over the top.  Luckily it was done on a rainy day so I had lots of time.

I stamped the sentiment from Peaceful Moments using Coastal Cabana ink and cut it out using a Stitched Nested Labels Die.  Then I punched out a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Everyday Label Die and adhered them together.

I did get a lovely thank you card from the happy couple who said they loved the card so all that work was definitely worth it.

Forever Fern

Although last week I said Arrange A Wreath was my favorite Stampin’ Up!®  bundle I did mention that I had a lot of favorites from this catalog.  The Suite called Forever Greenery is also one of my favorites.  I love the all the different leaf stamps in Forever Fern, the matching dies called Forever Flourishing and the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper is gorgeous!  The colors used in this suite are beautiful together and so elegant.

I started this card by just stamping and cutting out a bunch of the leaf images in different greens.  I think most of our greens go really well with each other.  I arranged them on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I thought they needed a little burst of color added to them so I stamped the berries in Mango Melody.  I used a sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments and cut it out using a die from the set called Tasteful Labels.

I still thought the card needed something more so I added another leaf and a berry to the other side.  The card still looked very white so I added some Soft Seafoam splatters to the background.  This is how I do so many of my cards.  I get an idea in my head and it seems to be missing something so I add a little here and a little there until I like it.  I am not very artistic so sometimes it takes me a while to figure it out (and sometimes it ends up in the trash more often than I like to admit).  That is the great thing about stamping.  Anyone can do it!  Let me tell you, the only reason I passed art class was because I would ask the teacher for help and she would end up doing my whole project.  How could she fail herself?

Peaceful Moments

On Monday I showed you how you can make a quick and easy card by letting your Designer Series Paper (DSP) do all the hard work.  Here is another example for you.  If you are anything like me, you purchase a lot of DSP but you don’t use a lot of it.  There is something that keeps me from cutting into that first sheet that makes it so hard to do.  As they say “just do it”.  What good is this beautiful paper if it sits around uncut and unloved?

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Ornate Garden Specialty Paper.  It is called Specialty because it has some gold foil designs on some of the patterns.  I cut a piece of the Terracotta Tile colored paper 4″ x 5.5″ and layered it onto a Whisper White card base.  Then I cut the flowered DSP 2.5″ x 3.75″ and layered that onto a piece of 2.75″ x 4″ Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment “heartfelt” (from the stamp set called Well Said) using Memento Black in onto a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock and then the “thank you” sentiment (from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments) in Terracotta Tile ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut both of them out using dies from the Tasteful Labels die set

It took me longer to decide which DSP to use then it took to make the card.  So remember.  Cut that Designer Series Paper and use it!  That is what it is for.

Painted Poppies

Peaceful Poppies is one of the amazing suites in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  This suite includes two stamp sets, two sets of dies, gorgeous Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  All of these products were made to go together.  One of the stamp sets is called Painted Poppies.  This set is full of beautiful images.  The dies that go with this are called Painted Labels.  This die set is made up of some dies that cut out the images and some dies that are labels.  The other stamp set is called Peaceful Moments and has a ton of sentiments.  The matching Poppy Moments Dies have 16 dies that cut out various flowers and leaves.  All four of these products can be mixed and matched.

For my card I used both the Painted Poppies and Peaceful Moments stamp sets.  The edge die I used is (in Basic Black card stock) from Painted Labels Dies.  The first thing I did was stamp the flowers in black ink and then embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder.  It is hard to see in the photo but the outline of these flowers are shiny and have some texture. Then I colored the flowers with my Poppy Parade Stampin Blends.  I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and then hand cut the banner out.  The best way to do this is to first cut the smaller banner and adhere it to a larger rectangle (Calypso Coral) and then cut the banner points to match.

As most of you know from a previous post, Rob and I are starting a new adventure in our lives.  He retired from his job and we have decided to move closer to our grandchildren.  Last month, before this crazy Coronavirus stuff started, went house shopping.  We found an awesome house that we both loved the second we walked into it. We made an offer which was accepted.  Sounds great, right?  Not so much right now.  New York has totally shut down for everything other than essential businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies (oh yes.  I can not forget liquor stores!).  That means that real estate agents can not work, which means our house can not be shown. All that boils down to right now we own 3 houses.   It is a little stressful but we are handling it as best we can.  My son had to close on the new house for us since we could not get there (or I should say we chose not to fly at this time).  Oh well.  There are worst things in life right now.  We are healthy which is the most important thing.  I hope all of you are too!

Cherry Blossom Dies

No one ever wants to make a sympathy card but things happen and, unfortunately it becomes necessary.  You wouldn’t think that sending someone a card would be a big thing when they are grieving a loved one but it is.  I remember when my Dad died years ago and my friends, acquaintances and some distant family members sent me lots of cards.  It was awesome and it brightened my day during this sad time.

I made this sympathy card just to have on hand.  Thankfully, I haven’t had to use it yet.  I used a set of dies called Cherry Blossoms that are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 Mini Catalog.  They have a matching stamp set called Forever Blossoms (which I didn’t use on this card) and if you buy them in a Bundle you can save 10%.   One of the things I love about this set of dies is that some of them emboss as well as cut.  If you look closely you can see the embossing on some of the flowers and leaves.  I cut the flowers out of Purple Posy, So Saffron and Highland Heather cardstock and the leaves out of Pear Pizzazz.  I used the dies called Stitched Nested Labels to cut out the piece of Whisper White cardstock.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments which is also in the Mini Catalog.

Peaceful Poppies

Hello everyone! It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy and Jackie.  This time our challenge was to make something using our favorite Designer Series Paper (DSP).  This was a very hard challenge for me since I love so many different packs of DSP.  In the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog I love Magnolia Lane, Come Sail Away and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Packs.  I also love the From My Heart, Parisian Blossoms, Birthday Bonanza, Tropical Garden and the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper which all are in the 2020 January-June Mini Catalog. Then of course, my favorite Sale-a-bration DSP is the Golden Honey Specialty Paper.  Too many choices!  I decided to just go with one I hadn’t used in a while ~ Peaceful Poppies.

This Designer Series Paper is part of the Peaceful Poppies Suite in the Spring Mini Catalog (the real name of this catalog is way too long to keep typing over and over so I am shortening it).  It uses nine different Stampin’ Up!® colors which are all bright and beautiful.  This suite also includes two awesome stamp sets, two sets of coordinating dies, ribbon, sequins and elements.

This card was fairly simple to make.  The card base is Blackberry Bliss.  I cut a 5″ x 3.75″ piece of the DSP and then diagonally cut it into two pieces.  Then I took one of those pieces and diagonally cut that.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments and cut it out using one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies that are also in the Spring Mini Catalog.  I adhered that to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock that I had cut out using the same set of dies.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite DSP is.  I wonder if they had the same trouble choosing that I did!

Peaceful Moments & Stitched So Sweetly

I love it when Stampin’ Up!® comes out with new dies that can be used in a Bundle or stand alone.  I especially love all the stitched dies we have been getting lately.  We have Stitched Rectangles, Stitched Shapes, Stitched Be Mine, Stitched Labels and more.  Now we have a new set called Stitched So Sweetly that pair perfectly so with many sentiments.  This set of dies is actually a bundle with So Sentimental, although I did not use that set for this card.  Instead I used Peaceful Moments.  All of these products are in the 2020 Mini Catalog.

When making this card, I decided I wanted to use my favorite colors together.  I love most of the Brights family but I especially love Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana together.  The other colors I used are Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.  I love how bright and cheery they all are.

This card could have been pretty simple to make but I decided to step it up a bit.  I rounded the corners using the Detailed Trio Punch.  I also decided to stamp the sentiment twice.  I did it once in Memento Black ink and again in Bermuda Bay.  Then I cut out the word “happiness” and layered it over the black sentiment using Mini Dimensionals.  The Daffodil Delight circle was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies and the Granny Apple Green and Whisper White shapes were cut out using the new Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love how they all layer together.
