I have been waiting so patiently for Stampin’ Up!® to add a slimline collection and it is finally here! Slimline cards usually come in two sizes. The Stampin’ Up!® one is used to make a 3.5″ x 8.5″ card. The stamp set is called Slimline Sayings. It includes six larger sentiments that are a perfect size for slimline cards. There is also a coordinating die set called Slimline Card dies and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle. The die set has four dies in it. Two of the dies can be used for a background and two are for edges.
To make this card I first took one of the Slimline Card dies and cut it out in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay card stock. I adhered the Pool Party one to a Basic White card base and then layered the pieces from the Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay cut outs inside using Multipurpose Glue.
After this I punched out the Penguin from the Penguin Place bundle (which includes the Penguin Place stamp set and the Penguin Builder Punch). This bundle was in the July – December Mini Catalog. Although that catalog has retired, the Penguin stamp set and punch are still available and will be in the new Annual Catalog that comes out later this spring. I used Granny Apple Green card stock for the back of the Penguin and Basic White for the inside. I stamped the eyes and nose and punched out the feet in Pool Party. The Penguin Place stamp set includes the balloon. I love that our old Balloon Punch can punch of this balloon perfectly. I added the piece of white twine and attached it to the Penguin’s hand. Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink. Although this sentiment fits a slimline card perfectly, it can also be used for a regular A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) card too.
