Remarkable You

Remarkable You is a stamp set that has been around for a while but I have just discovered it.  It is in the Annual Catalog.  I figure that since I just purchased it, then it will retire but that is ok, because I love this set and will use it for a long time.

As a reminder, the Retirement List will come out in the beginning of April.  If you want something from the Annual Catalog you really should order it soon.  There are five In Colors retiring (Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy (a gorgeous green), Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum) and once that list comes out, the ink pads, cardstock and ink refills usually sell out the first day.  A lot of the embellishments sell out too, so again, if you want something, you should buy it quickly.

Of course, now is a great time to stock up on items you want or use regularly because it is Sale-a-bration time and you can get free merchandise from the Sale-a-bration Catalog with a qualifying order.  It is a win-win.  You get the items you want before they sell out plus free stuff!

Back to the card ~ I stamped the leaves using Tranquil Tide and the flower in Island Indigo.  I cut the flower out using the Layering Circle Dies.  The sentiment is from Pop Of Paradise.

Pop Of Paradise & Badges & Banners

Pop Of Paradise, Badges & Banners

Sometimes you need something for the background of a card and you don’t have the designer Series Paper you want so you can make your own!  You can just use a smaller stamp and stamp it in different colors (such as I did) or use different stamps to make a pattern.  I did this using the pineapple from the stamp set called Pop Of Paradise.  I stamped it in Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush and Crushed Curry.

The “badge” is from the stamp set called Badges & Banners and it has a matching punch called Best Badge.  You can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.  This stamp set also has a couple of stamps that match the Duet Banner Punch.  That is one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up!.  You can mix and match items to get the most out of your purchases.

Pop Of Paradise

Pop Of Paradise

The way the weather has been around here, I am beginning to think that maybe I will see Flamingos outside my window soon!  This summer has been hot, humid and very, very dry.  Thankfully, I live on Lake Ontario so we aren’t in danger of having a drought, but the farmers are having a tough time.  The grass is all brown and the leaves are starting to fall.  On one hand, if you were on vacation this summer, it didn’t really matter what week you picked because every single one was beautiful.  Rob is happy because he barely had to mow, but it is getting to the point where we desperately need rain even if it ruins a planned outside day.

Pop of Paradise is a very cute stamp set that comes in rubber (clear or wood mount) and has eight stamps that include a flamingo, a pineapple, a couple of different leaves and some cute sentiments.  Flirty Flamingo is the perfect color to use with this stamp set for the flamingo, of course.  I stamped off (this is where you ink the stamp and then stamp it once on a scrap paper and then on your cardstock) the leaves so that they would be lighter for the background. Then, of course, I had to add some bling!

A Party Animal Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

TGIF and we have another fun Stamp Off Challenge.  Jackie got very creative a little while ago and came up with some awesome challenges.  This week it is called Party Animal.

Now, I am not quite sure what it means exactly.  It could be make a celebration card or it could mean make a card with an animal in it.  I decided to do both!

Pop Of Paradise, Confetti CelebrationI decided to make a birthday card with an animal on it.  At the same time, I made it a fun fold slider card.  When you pull the piece with the ribbon on it, the middle slides up and you see a surprise message.  This is what the card looks like completely open.

This picture shows how the Flamingo and leaves pop up when you open it.

I used two stamp sets to make this card.  The flamingo and leaves are from Pop Of Paradise.  Now really.  Who doesn’t like a Flamingo?  One of the new InColors is called Flirty Flamingo, so of course, I had to use that color.  The sentiments are from the stamp set called Confetti Celebration.

Now, let’s head over to Buffy’s and Jackie’s blogs to see their Party Animal Cards.  If I was a guessing woman, I would say they used a cute and silly Llama on their cards.  Let’s go see!
