Remarkable You & Work Of Art

Here are another couple of stamp sets that will be retiring at the end of May.  The flowers are from Remarkable You.  This stamp set has been around a while but it is fairly new to me so I will miss it.  It is such an elegant stamp set and is prefect for so many different occasions.

I made the background of this card using the stamp set called Work Of Art.  This is a fun set full of swooshes and other fun shapes that can be used to make a card more artistic.  One of my favorite all time sentiments is from this set.  It says “You are a fabulous work of art”.  I just love that!  Of course, my father used to say “you are a work of art” and I don’t think it was meant in a nice way.  I always detected a bit of sarcasm in his voice.

The colors I used in this card are Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and So Saffron.

A Brusho Stamp Off Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today is Friday which means we have another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  Today’s challenge was a hard one for me.  As you know I am more of a clean and simple (CAS) stamper.  Brusho Crystal Colour doesn’t always go with that so I had a difficult time trying to figure out what to do.

Then I remembered you can paint with Brusho.  You don’t always have to blob it all over the background!  Here is my card:

To make this card I first stamped the flower and sentiment from Remarkable You using Jet Black Stazon ink onto Shimmery White cardstock.  I love the subtle sparkle to this cardstock and it works well with using a bit of water on it.  Then I sprinkled a little of the Yellow Brusho onto the largest Clear Block (F).  I squeezed some water out of my Aqua Painter and mixed it with the Brusho crystals and painted the flower.  The great thing about Brusho is the color is very intense.  I did the same thing with the Gamboge (orange) and Moss Green Brusho.

By the way, the sentiment I used really starts with the word “and”.  I didn’t want that so I covered that word with a bit of Micropore tape, inked up the stamp and then pulled the tape off.  It is an easy way to mask a sentiment.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy did with their Brusho.  I am sure it is amazing!

Remarkable You With Bleach

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  We used an old but fun technique using bleach to make this card.  The fun part of using bleach is you never know what color you will get.  We used Night of Navy for this card and as you can see, the bleach turned the card yellow.  Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral also turned yellow with bleach while Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi turned to an off white color.

To make this first we stamp the flower from the stamp set called Remarkable You in Versamark.  Then we embossed it with White Embossing Powder.  After this, we “colored” the petals with my Aqua Painter that had bleach in it instead of water.  The embossing helped to keep the bleach inside the petals.  You have to let it sit for a couple of minutes to do its thing.

Remarkable You is a stamp set that has been around for a while but I have just discovered it.  It is in the Annual Catalog.  I figure that since I just purchased it, then it will retire but that is ok, because I love this set and will use it for a long time.

As a reminder, the Retirement List will come out in the beginning of April.  If you want something from the Annual Catalog you really should order it soon.  There are five In Colors retiring (Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy (a gorgeous green), Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum) and once that list comes out, the ink pads, cardstock and ink refills usually sell out the first day.  A lot of the embellishments sell out too, so again, if you want something, you should buy it quickly.

Of course, now is a great time to stock up on items you want or use regularly because it is Sale-a-bration time and you can get free merchandise from the Sale-a-bration Catalog with a qualifying order.  It is a win-win.  You get the items you want before they sell out plus free stuff!

Back to the card ~ I stamped the leaves using Tranquil Tide and the flower in Island Indigo.  I cut the flower out using the Layering Circle Dies.  The sentiment is from Pop Of Paradise.

Remarkable You

Stampin’ Up! has some “remarkable” Designer Series Paper.  It comes in all colors and so many different designs.  Some of them are called Specialty Papers because they have special sheets in the pack that are sometimes heavier, made of something different (like acetate) or are gold, silver or copper embossed.  These paper are just gorgeous and some you can’t really appreciate until you see them in person.

I made this card using some of this Designer Series Specialty Paper.  The piece I used comes in the pack called Eastern Palace.  It is Dapper Denim and the lines are gold.  It is just beautiful.  Of course, I had to pair this amazing paper with my latest obsession ~ the stamp set called Remarkable You.

It is a very simple card to make.  First I stamped the flower in Versamark Ink. Then I sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder over it and heat set it with my Stampin’ Up! Heat Tool.  This Heat Tool is different than the others on the market because it has two speeds.  One is used for embossing and the other can be used to dry ink or water quickly.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink.  The whole process only took a few minutes.

So, remember even if you are in a hurry you can still make someone a card that they will enjoy getting.  No one needs to know it only took you a few minutes!

Remarkable You

Remarkable You is a stamp set that has been around for a number of years. I just discovered it.  I am not sure why I didn’t purchase it when it first came out because I loved it then.  I love it every year but somehow it got lost in all my orders.  I finally bought it last week.  Now I have years of posts to make up for this.  Be prepared!  Oh, and it will probably retire this year so if you love it, get it now before you can’t.

I think I never got it before because I am not much of a colorer and it needs color.  Now that we have the Stampin’ Blends, there is no reason left.  Stampin’ Blends make coloring so easy that even I can do it.

To make this card, first I stamped the Calla Lillies in Memento Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and then again on a Post-It Note.  I cut them out of the Post-It Note and placed it on top of the stamp that was on the Whisper White cardstock.  This is called masking and allowed me to stamp the leaves without covering the flowers.  It is so easy to do!  You don’t even have to cut the flowers out super carefully to make it work.  Then I colored the flowers using the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends and the leaves with the Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  It was so easy!
