Seaside Shore

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  Debby, one of my long time members wanted me to show her the “inking up an embossing folder” technique.  I know.  That is such a technical name but that is what I call it.  It probably has a fancier name that this but it works.

To make the background I inked up the Seaside Embossing Folder using Dapper Denim ink and a brayer.  The I put the cardstock inside and ran it through the Big Shot. It is a very simple technique but fun.

I used the stamp set called Seaside Shore.  This set is retiring at the end of May.  I stamped the fish in Sweet Sugarplum (a retiring InColor) and Calypso Coral.  The bubbles are stamped in Dapper Denim (another retiring InColor) and the sea plants were stamped in Wild Wasabi (a retiring Subtle Ink color).  The cardstock is Dapper Denim and Soft Sky (both are retiring).

Remember, you only have a couple more weeks to buy any of the retiring items.  After that they will be gone forever!

When a new Stampin’ Up! catalog comes I tend to get so excited about the new merchandise that some of my older, but still current things get forgotten. I was searching for a set to use that hadn’t seen ink in a while and saw Seaside Shore sitting there so lonely on my shelf.  When this set came out I used it constantly.  I bet most of you got tired of seeing it all the time but how can you not like those cute little fish?!

I stamped the sentiment twice ~ once onto Marina Mist Cardstock and once onto Soft Sky.  Then I cut the middle section out using a dies from the At Home Framelits and put it over the Marina Mist sentiment with Dimensionals.

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Color Theory Paper Stack.  It is 6″ x 6″ and you get 48 sheets in the pack.  My favorite design is the Ombre look sheets,  I thought it went perfectly with the fish because it kink of looks like water.

A Take It Or Leave It Stamp Off Challenge

Yay!  It is Friday and time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie and Buffy.  Oh wait.  This is a Take It or Leave It Challenge.  Hmmmm.  Well, you will see why I say this.  Here is the challenge.

Twine or Ribbon?  I can do that.  Framelit or Thinlit?  I can do that too.  Food?  Huh?  Doilies?  I can even do that!  Food?  Hmmmm .  So I began to look through my stamp sets to see what had food.  Fiesta Birthday has a llama.  Can you eat that?  No.  I would not.  Pop of Paradise has a flamingo.  No way.  Baby Bear?  I don’t think so!  Sitting There has a cat.  Naw.  I don’t live in one of those countries that eat cats.  So here is the best I could do.

Fish!  I can use the fish in Seaside Shore.  So here is my card.  Please notice I used every element on the list.  Oh and by the way, Seaside Shore is being carried over into the new Annual Catalog!  I am happy about that!

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie eat.  Let’s hope it is not a dog!

Seaside Shore, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

As some of you know, I just got back from two weeks in Florida.  I really should not go there anymore.  It always leaves me depressed when I come back to the cold and snow of the North Country.  It was gorgeous, sunny, warm weather every single day.  I could not ask for better weather while on vacation.  Of course, our trip home was a nightmare, as usual.  Our first flight got delayed 3 hours which would mean we would miss our connection so they put us on another flight which worked out alright but they lost our luggage in the process.  Traveling is not easy these days, although I am still so thankful I can travel.

Still, we went from this (75 degrees)

To this (15 degrees)

Sad, isn’t it?  In any case, I decided to pretend I was still in Florida so I made the card above using the stamp set called Seaside Shore.  There weren’t any tropical fish where I was, but it was pretty anyway and I wish I was still there!

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is Friday which means another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me!  This time we have a sketch challenge that Jackie designed.  Have you noticed how Jackie does most of the designing for our challenge?  Yep.  She is awesome that way.

Here is her challenge:

Here is my card:

Seaside Shore, Labeler Alphabet

I used the stamp set called Seaside Shore to make this card.  I just love those fish!  I think they are just adorable.  Crazy, I know!  Maybe it comes from my love of the ocean and the beach.   Those are my favorite places to be so the fish just go along with that theme.  The sentiment was made from the stamp set called Labeler Alphabet.  This set is great because you can make any words you want with it.  It is Photopolymer which means they are clear to help you position them.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using this sketch challenge.  I am sure you will love both of them!

A Stamp Off Designer Series Paper Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

This week our challenge is to use Designer Series Paper.  This is a great challenge for me because I am a hoarder of DSP.  I love it.  I buy it but boy is it hard to cut into that first piece!  Once I do, I am ok but it is still hard.

Seaside Shore, Layering Ovals, By The Shore

First of all, I think I deserve kudos for actually following this challenge!  I’m the rebel in the group and often just do whatever I want.  I know.  I am a spoiled brat but I do much better when I am in my own comfort zone and would rather post something I like at least a little then something I can’t stand.

I decided to use the stamp set called Seaside Shore (again) for my card with the matching Designer Series Paper called By The Shore.  I love anything that has to do with the beach, the ocean or the coast so both of these things were perfect.  I love the little fish in this set (there are two more I didn’t use) as well as the starfish and shells.  The little bubbles are the cutest!

I have some wonderful news to share!  I am going to be a grandmother again!  I can’t wait!

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.  I am sure you will be awed by their creations!

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is Friday again and time for another Stamp Off Sketch Challenge.  I think the sketch was done by Jackie but last time I thought that, I was wrong.  In any case, here is the sketch:

August12

Here is my card:

Seaside Shore, By The Shore, Labeler Alphabet

Aren’t you proud of me?  I actually followed the sketch challenge as it is without changing a thing!

I made this card for my Brother-In-Law who is a obsessive fisherman.  If he could, he would fish every day all day.  I think that is his plan when he retires.  In any case, he has been having some health issues so I thought I would send him this card to let him know we are thinking of him.  He probably would have liked to see the fish in By The Tide but since that is retired, I can’t use it.  He doesn’t usually fish for cute little angel fish but it was the best I could do.  Good thing he is a catch and release fiserman!

Now go check out Buffy’s and Jackie’s blogs.  Let’s see if any one of them didn’t follow the sketch!

Seaside Shore

Seaside Shore

I was so sad when Stampin’ Up retired By The Tide and By The Seashore because I love all things that have to do with the beach and ocean.  Although I live in Northern New York now, I grew up on Long Island Sound.  We went to the beach all the time.  Our favorite was Jones Beach (Beach #2).  The waves were awesome there.  I think I constantly gave my mother a heart attack because I would be in the water all day, get caught in a wave and come tumbling to shore.  There would  be a few seconds where I would be out of sight and my mother was always on edge.  Honestly, I still love to do this.  I do admit that I now get a little sore when I tumble but I still come up smiling and run right back in.  Now Rob gets to have that heart attack when he goes with me.

Anyway, Stampin’ Up! has a new stamp set that has to do with the ocean.  It is called Seaside Shore and has the cutest tropical fish with it.  It also has some starfish, shells, boat line and some other images.  It also has these cute little bubbles.  I love this new set and I am sure you will too!
