Colorful Seasons

This is a really quick and simple card to make.  I first stamped the background using the stamp set called Colorful Seasons.  I stamped the leaves in Basic Gray, Petal Pink and Highland Heather in a random order.  Then I cut out the frame using two of the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  I love the way these dies cut the inside and the outside of the rectangle.  I stamped the sentiment from Kindness & Compassion and put it inside the rectangle frame.  I thought it needed something more so I used the coordinating dies called Seasonal Layers and cut a  solid leaf and the detailed leaf out of Petal Pink cardstock and layered them together.

I have been so fortunate to have my grand daughter, Olivia stay with me once a week this fall while their parents work.  Olivia is now five months old.  I don’t know how that happened because it doesn’t seem like she has been around that long.    Being a grandmother is the best job I have ever had.  She is an absolute joy.  She is happy most of the time except when she wants to eat because when she is hungry, she wants her food immediately.  There is no stopping to burp her either.  She tells you in no uncertain terms that burping can be done after she has had the entire bottle.

My children all a thing with pumpkins.  They like to take baby pictures while sitting inside one.  Madelyn, Nolan and Emy all had pumpkin pictures.  I don’t know about this tradition.  I would think a pumpkin would be mighty cold and slimy but none of them seem to mind.  Here is Olivia’s pumpkin picture.

She certainly doesn’t seem to mind!

Let’s Drink

I know that was a weird title but it caught your attention, didn’t it?  Today’s Stamp Off challenge is to make a card of some kind of drinking.  I had to think about this one for a while.  I have the stamp set called Coffee Cafe but I figured Buffy would use that since she loves coffee.  I had to a search through my stamps and found one that had a drink in it.

I used a few different stamp sets for this card.  The drink is from Colorful Seasons.  I also used High Tide and the sentiment is from Florentine Filigree.  I also used a non-Stampin’ Up!® set.  What??  I know!  Blasphemy!  I couldn’t find a solid sailboat image in my SU stash so I cheated a bit.

This winter has been brutal with lots of ice, snow, cold and wind.  This card made me think of warmth, sunshine and peace.  I could use that in my life right now!

To make it I first stamped the water in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay ink.  Then I  stamped the sand in Crumb Cake a few different times using a stamp from High Tide.  This gave it a little depth.  I sponged the sky using Balmy Blue ink and then stamped the birds in Crumb Cake ink and the sentiment and sailboat in Early Espresso.  I cut the chair out of Whisper White cardstock with a die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Set.  I stamped the drink in Mango Melody and cut it out using the matching die.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  We will see if my prediction for Buffy is true.  That is one of the things I love about our challenges.  We don’t share our cards ahead of time so it is a fun surprise for us too!

A Fall Challenge

Good morning! Today is another Stamp Off challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time we needed to make a Fall or Thanksgiving card.

I decided to use the stamp set called Colorful Seasons.  This is a great stamp set because it covers all the seasons.  There are snowflakes for winter, flowers for summer and spring and the cutest Adirondack chair to watch all the seasons go by.

To make this card I first stamped all the leaves in Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment is from Labels To Love.  I used my amazing Stamparatus to stamp the different colors.  First I covered with sentiment with medical tape and inked the leaves in Shaded Spruce.  Then leaving the stamp in the exact same place, I covered the leaves and inked the sentiment in Cajun Craze.  The Stamparatus lets you line up the stamp multiple times.  I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Then I mounted it with Dimensionals onto a piece of Crushed Curry and then Cajun Craze card stock that was cut out using the Layering Circles Dies. I decided it needed something more so I cut out a leaf using the Seasonal Layers die in Rich Razzleberry.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made with the Fall/Thanksgiving theme.

Let’s Go To The Beach

Good morning everyone!  Today is another day for a Stamp Off Challenge.  This time we have a theme card.  We can make a card (or project) with a beach theme.  My favorite place in the world is a tropical beach so it was not hard for me to get into this theme.

Here is my card:

To make this card I used a couple of different stamp sets.  First I stamped the sand using the stamp set called High Tide in Crumb Cake.  The then tore (yes, Buffy I really did!) the piece of cardstock so it looked a little uneven as sand might.  Then I stamped the sea grass and the sentiment in Tranquil Tide ink.  I used Bermuda Bay ink for the water and Crumb Cake for the seagulls on Coastal Cabana cardstock.  The chair is from a set of Thinlits called Seasonal Layers.  I love that Stampin’ Up! throws in miscellaneous dies sometimes.  The sentiment and the drink (I used Calypso Coral) are from Colorful Seasons stamp set which match the Seasonal Layers dies.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  We don’t show each other our creations before we post so it is always a surprise to see what amazing things they make.

Another Colorful Seasons

Have I mentioned before how much I love Colorful Seasons and the matching Thinlits Dies called Seasonal Layers?   I will never get tired of this set.  It is just so versatile that you can make cards all year long with just this set.  Plus, if you buy both in a Bundle you can save 10%!

To make this card I took the stamp set called Timeless Textures and and stamped the swirls in Cajun Craze onto Whisper White Cardstock.  Then I stamped the splatters using Crushed Curry before layering a lines from the die set called Swirly Scribbles.  Then I stamped the outline of three leaves onto Whisper White in Memento Black Ink and then sponged over them using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler before cutting them out.  As you can see I made each leaf a little different.

The sentiment is from Colorful Seasons too!

An Embossing Folder Stamp Off Challenge

Good morning!  I hope your Friday is going to be fabulous!  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge was to use our favorite Embossing Folder.

As of today, my favorite Embossing Folder is the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I say “as of today” because my favorite stamp set, dies, color and embossing folders change on a weekly basis.  It is hard to pick a favorite when there are so many fantastic Stampin’ Up! products to choose from!

Of course it is Fall right now so my favorites colors are from the Regal Family.  I used Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango.  As of today my favorite stamp set is Merry Cafe and my favorite dies are Coffee Cups Framelits.  Why?  They are the newest in my collection and new is always fun.

Whenever I made a card I end up changing it, adding different things to it and taking things away.  As a result of this, I have a bunch of pre-cut shapes which is where I got the pumpkin and leaf from.  The pumpkin is from Pick A Pumpkin and it’s matching Thinlits called Patterned Pumpkins.  The leaf is from the stamp set Colorful Season with its matching Thinlits called Seasonal Layers.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite Embossing Folder is.

Hello Friend With New Champagne Foil Sheets

Sometimes it is hard to see some of the new products in the 2017 Holiday Catalog because each picture is jam packed with so many new things that it is easy to overlook some of the smaller items.  The new Champagne Foil Sheets are one of these items.  I almost missed the because the catalog only shows a small corner and because they are right next to the gold Foil Snowflakes you might assume these are gold too.  Nope!  They are this super soft, beautiful color.  They are a light gold and so pretty.  Let’s all hope that Stampin’ Up! carries them over to the new catalog next year!

I have to admit I used a lot of product on this card but there is nothing there that you should not own already  The sentiment is from Hello Friend.  This stamp set goes with a kit but you can still buy it separately if you like it.  The background is a 3D Embossing Folder called Layered Leaves.  I also used the 2 1/4″ Punch and the Layering Circles Dies.  Last but not least, the leaf is from Seasonal Layers.  Now listen carefully.  If you don’t buy another thing, you need to buy this set of dies and the matching stamp set called Colorful Seasons.  It is perfect for every season and you will use it all the time!

Another Eclipse Card

This is the second project we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It is called an Eclipse Card and is extremely popular right now.  I had a couple of members request to make this because they have seen them everywhere.  They are super easy to make.  You either use Designer Series Paper for the background or stamp a background.  Then you cut out a word and pop up the letters using Mini Dimensionals.

For the background we used the Designer Series Paper from the 2017 Holiday Catalog called Year Of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is hard to see in the photo but it beautiful paper that has gold, silver and copper accents.  We cut out the word “NOEL” using the Large Letters Framelits.  I made it a little easier for my Club members by lining up the letters ahead of time and them attached them using retired Washi Tape.

Then we cut out the snowflakes from Silver Foil Paper using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Des.

Colorful Seasons

Colorful Seasons and Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies are going to be on my blog a lot in the next few weeks.  Actually, you will probably see them even more often than that because this Bundle covers every season there is.

Right now the leaves are starting to turn up here so expect to see a lot of colorful leaf cards and projects.  It is kind of weird though.  When I look out my window there is a tree to the right that has already turned a reddish orange.  Then there is a tree to my left that is still completely green.  You can see this all over right now and makes me wonder why this happens.  I guess it is like flowers.  Some are spring bloomers and others don’t bloom until late summer.

This card was super easy to make.  I just cut out a bunch of leaves using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  The colors I used are Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green.  The tree branch is cut from Basic Gray cardstock.  If you look closely you can see I sponged the background with Soft Sky.  When I was putting it all together I felt it needed a little extra color.  The sentiment is from Painted Harvest.

New Stampin’ Up! Cat Punch

Although I am not a cat lover or a Halloween card maker, I love the new Stamping’ Up! Cat Punch that is in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  I just think it is very cute and as long as it doesn’t cross my path, I will be ok.

When I was in high school a friend and I were going to visit my grandparents in Vermont. They used to live in Manchester Depot which is near Bromley, Magic Mountain and Stratton ski resorts and we loved to ski.  We left super early one morning and on my way to pick up my friend a black cat crossed my path.  I was not (and am still not) a very superstitious person but later that day I hit black ice and totaled my parents car.  It makes you wonder but I think I’ll be ok with this punch.

This punch has a matching stamp set called Spooky Cat and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  You can use them for Halloween or not.  Cats are year round animals!  The sentiment is from Dragonfly Dreams and the background was made using the Brick Embossing Folder.
