A Stamp Off Tribute To Six Sided Sampler

Stamp Off New Logo

It is that time again for another Stamp Off Challenge.  Before I go any further, many of you might have noticed that sometimes the three of us (Buffy, Jackie and I) use a “fuzzy” logo but sometimes I use a clean logo.  It is all about what style we each like.  I am a CAS (clean and simple) stamper.  Buffy is vintage and Jackie is somewhere in-between.  They both like the fuzzy logo.  I like the clean.  Truthfully, the fuzzy one gives me hives.  The thing is, it is ok to do whatever we want.  No one gets upset over such a silly thing.  So, in honor of my stamp mates, I am using the fuzzy logo today.  Next week?  You will just have to come back and see!  Which one do you prefer?

Now, on to the challenge. This week our challenge is to use a retiring stamp set that is one of our favorites.

Screenshot 2016-04-18 15.22.34I used Six Sided Sampler.  I don’t know why I love this set so much but I do know I will miss it.  Maybe it is because it has a matching punch called Hexagon and a matching Embossing Folder called Honeycomb.  There is also a matching Thinlit called Hexagon Hive.  All four of these products are retiring at the end of May (or while supplies last).  How sad is that?!?Six Sided Sampler, Gorgeous Grunge

The Designer Series Paper is called Cherry On Top Paper Stack (which is in the 2016 Occasions Catalog).  That is retiring too.  Oh my.  I guess the only thing that is not retiring on this card are the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim and the stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge (another favorite of mine).  I added the Hexagon Hive and Honeycomb Embossing Folder in the links before even though we didn’t use it for this card.

If you would like to see what else is retiring, click on the link on the right side of my blog.  That list will show you what is retiring and what is no longer available.

Now go check out what Jackie and Buffy have made with their favorite retiring stamp set.

Visiting Six Sided Sampler Again

Six Sided Sampler, Hexagon Punch

This time of year is one of the most exciting, yet saddest in the Stampin’ Up! world.  It is exciting because Stampin’ Up! has it’s convention (now called On Stage) and I am going!  It starts on April 14th and is in Salt Lake City.  Demonstrators from all over the world will be there and one of the best parts is we will receive a copy of the new 2016/2017 Annual Catalog that starts June 1st!

One of the saddest things about this time of year is the retirement list comes out.  We will probably find out what that list is at On Stage too.  We might not get the actual list (I don’t know for sure) but obviously if we have the new catalog, we can see what is missing from it.

Six Sided Sampler has been around for a long time and is one of my all time favorites.  It has a matching punch called Hexagon.  I don’t know, at this point, if this set is retiring or not.  I hope not but I will find out soon enough.

If you are interesting in attending On Stage with me next year, you can join Stampin’ Up! as a demo (only demos are allowed).  It is a lot of fun!

Six Sided Sampler

Six Sided Sampler

I know it is still the Christmas season but as you can see, I am starting to use my other stamps that have been ignored for a while.    I love Christmas cards but you will only see one more on my blog and that is the Christmas card I sent out to my friends and family (on the 24th).  I figure if you haven’t made your cards by now, maybe you need to switch to a New Years card to surprise people with after Christmas.

I made this card using the stamp set called Six Sided Sampler.  It is still one of my favorites and it has a matching punch so there is no fussy cutting out the hexagons.  It was fairly easy to make which is also a good thing in my mind!

Sometimes I get so excited about all the new products that Stampin’ Up! offers I forget about the older products that I love so much.  The stamp set called Six Sided Sampler is one of those sets.  It has a matching Embossing Folder called Honeycomb and a matching punch called Hexagon.  You can’t ask for anything more!  If you put all those items together it makes it so easy to make a card.  You just stamp, punch, run it through the Big Shot and put it together!  Easy as pie.  Not to get side tracked or anything, but since when is making pie easy?  I mean really.  The only pie that might be easy to make is if you use pre-made pie shells and canned filling.  Homemade pies are time consuming and messy to make but oh so delicious!

Sorry for getting sidetracked!

Six Sided Sampler

Six Sided Sampler is another stamp set that I haven’t used in a while.  It has always been one of my favorites (do I say that with every stamp set?  Yes, I do!).  I love the different hexagon patterns on the stamps and of course, it has a matching punch so there is no fussy cutting.  I used Gorgeous Grunge behind the hexagons to add a little color to the background.  The ribbon I used is retiring at the end of this month.  It is the 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon in Smoky Slate.  If you like this ribbon or any of the other 11 colors, you need to order it before it is gone for good!

Six Sided Sampler Thank You

Six Sided SamplerI was trying to make myself go “outside of the box” with colors because I know I usually use bright colors on my cards.  I decided I have not used Blushing Bride very much so I knew I wanted to try that color.  Sometimes it is hard to figure out what colors go with each other.  If you have this trouble you should get the Color Coach that Stampin’ Up! offers.  It has a card for each color they sell and then gives you ideas on what other colors go with it.

The Color Coach said you could put Blushing Bride with Sahara Sand. I thought that looked nice but I wanted to do something different so I picked Smoky Slate.  I think they look great together!  It makes the card look very soft.  I used Six Sided Sampler and the matching Hexagon Punch and Honeycomb Embossing Folder.

Six Sided Sampler & Tape It

Six Sided Sampler, Tape It

Today is my mother’s 89 birthday!  She is amazing because she is still so spry and active.  Sometimes she exhausts me with all her activities!  I can only hope I am that way when I reach her age.  Happy Birthday, Dear!

I know this is not a birthday card, but it I decided to post it anyway.  It is a bright and Springy card so it is fitting for my mother.  I used a couple of stamps sets for this card.  The hexagons are made using the set called Six Sided Sampler.  It has a matching punch called Hexagon Punch.  You can buy both in a Bundle and save 15%.  Remember, even if this set is still in the catalog next year, you won’t be able to take advantage of the Bundle price so if you want it, you ought to buy it before it is too late.  The other set I used is called Tape It.  It looks like Washi Tape but you can stamp it with any color you want.

Six Sided Thanks

DSC01790

Now that Christmas is over, I need to start writing my thank you notes to my friends and family for the wonderful presents and thoughts they sent me during this holiday season.  I started making a bunch of wintery thank you notes but got tired of them and felt like making something light and springy.  What better colors to use than Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky!  It was a very simple card to make.  I just stamped the hexagons from the Six Sided Sampler set (say that 3 times fast!), punched them out using the Hexagon Punch (buy both and save 15% in a Bundle) and attached them to Whisper White card stock.  It gave the card a “light” look.

Six Sided Birthday Card

I know the holidays are coming soon but sometimes you need to make a card that is not holiday related during this time of year.  I have a lot of friends who have birthdays during the months of November and December and they want cards that don’t have a holiday theme in them.  I made this card using the stamp set called Six Sided Sampler.  The set has a matching punch called the Hexagon Punch.  You can buy both in a Bundle and save 15%!  Stampin Up! also offers a matching Embossing Folder called Honeycomb.  One of the best things about Stampin Up! is that it does sells items that go together.

Don’t forget about the Holiday Sale going on now through December 2nd!!

2013 Stampin Up! Convention Swap

Six Sided Sampler

Six Sided Sampler

Obviously I am writing this before today because right now I am in Salt Lake City at the Stampin Up! Convention.  I thought you might like to see my swap card.  Demonstrators from all over the world are here and everyone brings a card to swap.  It is a little hectic but a lot of fun.  I will come home with a ton of ideas for new cards to show you.

I  made my card using the stamp set called Six Sided Sampler.  It has a matching Hexagon Punch and you can get them both in a Bundle and save 15%.  I also used the Hello from the set called Four You.  It has become one of my favorites.
