Sailing Home

Hello everyone and welcome to another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  Our challenge this week is to make a masculine card.  These cards are the hardest for me to make but thankfully, Stampin’ Up!® makes some great masculine stamp sets.  One of my favorites is Sailing Home.  This set is in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  Sailing is big with the men in my life.  My father was a sailor and so was my step-father.  Rob loves to sail and we owned a sailboat for many years.  The only reason we don’t have it anymore is because we bought the cottage and there just isn’t enough time in the summer for both.

Stampin Up Sailing Home

To make this card, I first ran a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.  Thought it looked like rough waters and would go well with the sailing theme.  I stamped the lighthouse in Night Of Navy Ink and the sailboat in Basic Gray and then cut them out using the coordinating dies called Smooth Sailing.  I cut out the anchor and the wheel using these dies too.  They die cut and emboss at the same time which is so much fun.  I layered everything on a piece of Basic White cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays which is also in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  I had cut the flag end using my Paper Snips.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie used for their masculine cards.  I get to find out the same time you do since we don’t show each other what we make ahead of time.  It is more fun that way.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! It is the best time of year in the Stampin’ Up!® world. Stampin Up Sailing Home

I decided to try a fun technique that Jennifer McGuire did a couple of weeks ago.  The technique is called Offset Inking.  You need a Stamparatus to do this technique but it is really easy to do. You stamp an image in any color you want (I used Seaside Spray).  Then you move the cardstock up 1/8″ and stamp it again using Whisper White Craft Ink.  It gives the images a little more dimension.  I do have to say that I probably did it backwards and should have stamped the Whisper White image first and then the Seaside Spray but it still looks good.

Now believe it or not, I used the Birch Background stamp to make the background.  I first tried this technique in a different colors and it looked a little bit like clouds so I changed it to Seaside Spray.  Again, I lined up the Birch stamp on my Stamparatus, stamped it once in Seaside Spray ink on Seaside Spray cardstock and then moved it up 1/8″ and stamped it again in Whisper White Craft Ink.  To make the water darker, I used the water stamp from the stamp set called High Tide.  I stamped it numerous times over the birch images.

After I did the background I then stamped the sailboats in Smoky Slate ink and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I used a Seaside Spray Stampin Blends to color in-between the sails so it would blend in better with the water.  I sponged a piece of Whisper White cardstock using So Saffron and Petal Pink in to make the sun and then cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies.  I thought it looked softer than just cutting out a circle of cardstock. I stamped the seagulls in Memento Black ink.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn which is in the Holiday Catalog.  I love that sentiment!

Hello everyone!  It is time again for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge was a rectangle challenge.  Of course, the first thing I thought of was using the Stitched Rectangles Die but I use them so much (because they are my favorites) so I decided to take a different route and just cut pieces of cardstock and Designer Series Paper into rectangles and use them.

To make this card I first went through my scraps of cardstock and Designer Series Paper to see what I had available.  I came across a lot of little pieces of the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  This is why I chose to use the stamp set called Sailing Home with the matching dies called Smooth Sailing to make my card.  It is one of my favorite bundles and you can save 10% buying them together until June 2nd.  After that they will still be available but not at a discounted price.

I used a Whisper White card base and adhered a rectangle of Night of Navy cardstock to it (which has already been cut to this size so it was perfect.  Then I rounded the corners on the Designer Series Paper using Detailed Trio Punch.  This is a great punch because it does three different things to your cardstock.  The good news is this punch is being carried over into the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog!  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder.  Then I cut of the wheel using one of the dies in the Smooth Sailing die set.  This die cuts and embosses which is fun.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using rectangles.  Do you think they used the Stitched Rectangle dies?

Can you believe it is September already?  Where the heck did the time go?  Where did the summer go?  I guess the good thing is sometimes (not always) September can be beautiful in the North Country.  Let’s hope it is this year.

As most of you know by now, Stampin’ Up!® puts products together in Suites.  Then, if you like everything in a Suite they give you one time number so you can purchase it all without having to enter tons of numbers.  I love that!  This card was made using various products from the Come Sail Away Suite and yes, I did purchase everything in this Bundle so I could use one number (#15275) and get it all.  For $94.75 you get the Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth Sailing dies, High Seas Embossing Folder, Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper, Come Sail Away Memories & More card pack, Baker’s Twine and the Sail Away Trinkets.

To make this card I first stamped the lighthouse in Crumb Cake Ink and cut it out using the coordinating die.  Then I cut out the captain’s wheel in Crumb Cake cardstock.  If you look closely you can see that this die embosses as well as cuts.  I cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, stamped the sea gulls in the corner and adhered that to a piece of the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment and the two lines (they are not called ropes as my sailor husband tells me) are from the Memories & More card pack.  They have adhesive on the back so you just need to stick them down.

Wednesday is the day you can begin to order from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  If you are local and would like one just let me know and I will put one out for you.  If you would like a copy mailed to you, you just need to pay for postage.  Those of you who ordered $50 or more in the past 12 months should get one free in the mail.  Actually, you should have already gotten it so if you haven’t let me know.

A Fun Fold Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today we have a new challenge from BS & J Productions.  It is a Fun Fold Challenge.  I love Fun Folds!  When you open the envelope you expect it to be a regular card but then it becomes more of a surprise.

I decided to make a Dutch Door Fun Fold card.  It was super easy to make and did not take a long time.  The hardest part is deciding what stamps, colors and Designer Series Paper to use.  I chose the stamp set called Sailing Home.  This stamp set has matching dies called Smooth Sailing and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The Designer Series Paper is part of the same Suite and is called Come Sail Away.  The colors I used for this card are Night Of Navy, Seaside Spray and Whisper White.

Here is what the card looks like when it is opened.  I decided not to put a sentiment on it so I can decide later who and why I want to send it to.

Here are the cardstock pieces you will need to make this card:

To make this fun fold card, adhere the piece of Seaside Spray cardstock to the piece Night of Navy card base like this:

Then layer the piece of Designer Series Paper on top like this:

Then decorate however you wish.  For a full list of products I used, see below.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I know I will want to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) both of their fun folds!

Last week was Rob’s and my 36th anniversary.  It is hard to believe it has been that long.  It is definitely true what they say about time flying.  Somehow during all that time we managed to raise together three handsome and brilliant sons who now have children of their own. We have had our ups and downs, as most people have but somehow we made it through it all.  I would not have wanted to do it with anyone else.

This is the card I made for Rob to celebrate our anniversary.  We have never really done presents or extravagant things to celebrate.  We have mostly celebrated this date quietly with just the two of us going out for dinner or something like that.  This year was no different.

To make this card I used the Come Sail Away Memories or More Card Pack from the 2019/2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog for the background.  I love these card packs because they have lots of fun designs that coordinate with other products in the catalog.  I stamped the sailboat and the anchor from the stamp set called Sailing Home in Basic Gray Ink and  then cut them out using the matching dies called Smooth Sailing.  I layered all of this on top of a Basic Black card base.

Happy Anniversary, Rob.  It is true that any day with you is the best!

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!

Hello everyone.  Welcome to another BS & J Productions with Buffy, Jackie and me.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use our favorite new InColor.

I couldn’t really decide which one color was my favorite so I decided to use my two favorites:  Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray.  I wasn’t sure how well these two colors went together but I think they look great.

This was a fairly simple card to make.  I used the stamp set called Sailing Home.  I first stamped the sailboat and the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and cut it out using the Smooth Sailing Dies.  Then I cut out the wheel and the lines on the bottom and top of the card also using dies from this set.  I love it when Stampin’ Up!® adds extra dies that don’t necessarily cut out an image from the stamp set but can be used on their own.

I ran a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock using the High Seas 3D folder.  You can’t see it that well in the photo above so here is a close up.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite new InColors are.  I don’t know what Jackie will chose but I am guessing that Buffy’s is Rococo Rose.  Let’s go see if I am correct.

Sneak Peek Sailing Home

Sailing Home is one of the new stamp sets that is in the 2019/2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It is one of my favorite sets in the whole catalog and I knew the second I saw it, I had to have it.  The stamp set is part of the Come Sail Away Suite which includes matching dies called Smooth Sailing. You can’t buy it until June 4th but you will be able to save 10% if you purchase them both in a Bundle.  There is also Designer Series Paper, Memories & More card pack, Baker’s Twine and the cutest trinkets in this Suite.

The first card was a Make & Take at OnStage.  As you know, I didn’t make it there but Buffy was so kind to bring me one of the packets.  I was able to order the stamp set and dies when I got back so I could make the card at home.  It is adorable!  All three of these cards were made using the Note Cards & Envelopes in Whisper White.  If you look closely you will see that the wheel is cut and embossed by one die.  I love that!  The stitched label is also part of this die set.

I made the next two cards using some of the products in this Suite.  Can you see another sneak peek in this next card?  It is a new set of dies called Stitched Nested Labels.  They work like the Rectangle Stitched dies that cut a stitching on the inside of the piece of cardstock as well as the outside so you can use the negative.  I love these dies!

Also included in the dies is this cute little stitched label banner.  As you can tell, I just love everything about this Suite!  I did a little watercoloring on the background of this card using my Aqua Painter.  I colored the hulls of the sailboats with a Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue and Night of Navy Blends.

I could not list the item numbers of this amazing Suite yet because you can’t order it until June 4th so I just listed some of the other products I used.

PS:  Buffy, you are the best.  I can never thank you enough for being so kind.  IFLY!
