Goodbye Lemon Lime Twist

Hello everyone!  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use some or all of the retiring InColors.  These include Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist.  If you know me at all, you know I love Lemon Lime Twist.  Of everything that retired, this color retiring makes me the saddest.  I am hoping if and when Stampin’ Up!® does a color refresh, they bring it back because it is one of my all time favorite colors!

Another favorite product that will be retiring on June 3rd is the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  I love this DSP.  Plaids are back in style (at least with paper and stamps they are) and this DSP was really popular.

To make this card, I first adhered a piece of the Gingham Gala DSP onto a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  I cut out a Coastal Cabana hexagon and a smaller one out of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the sentiments from the stamp set called Sorry For Everything using Memento Black Ink.  This is a great stamp set for sympathy cards for people or pets as well as get well cards, belated birthday cards and farewell cards.  The smaller sentiments cover all those occasions.  Lastly, I stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Stazon Ink and colored with my Lemon Lime Twist and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Markers.  When using markers you need to use Stazon Ink so it doesn’t smear.  When using Blends, you would use Tuxedo Black ink for the same reason.

If you like Lemon Lime Twist cardstock or ink you will need to order before June 4th because if it has not sold out yet, it will be gone forever.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite retiring InColor(s) are.

First Frost

First Frost is a stamp set that is in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  Before I forget, this catalog ends on January 2nd.  So many of the great products in this catalog are retiring.  Luckily, First Frost is one of the sets that is being carried over.  It has matching dies called Frosted Bouquet and if you purchase them in a Bundle by January 2nd can save 10%.  After January 2nd you will still be able to purchase both of these products but not get the Bundle savings.

To make this card, I first inked the flowers in Balmy Blue ink and then took my Night Of Navy Marker and “thumped” the stamp.  Thumping is a technique is where you just bounce the marker over areas of the stamp.  If you look at my flowers you can see where I added the Night of Navy ink to the centers and the edges of the stamp.  It gives it a two toned look.

The splatters on the card were made using the stamp set called Timeless Textures.  The sentiment is from the set called Sorry For Everything.  Both of these sets are in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.

Sorry For Everything

Sorry For Everything is a stamp set that everyone needs to own.  The set is all sentiments without any images.  It covers sympathy for people and pets, belated birthday, get well and many other reasons someone might say sorry.  I am not sure I like the name of the set but the set itself is great.  When someone says “sorry for everything” it usually means a lot of bad things happened and no one likes to go there.

The colors I used for this card are Tranquil Tide and Mint Macaron.  The leaf is from Rooted In Nature (another must have set) which has matching dies called Nature’s Roots.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I said this before but this Bundle is so amazing it puts Lovely As A Tree to shame.

The Designer Series Paper is also part of the Nature’s Poem Suite and is called Nature’s Poem (well that makes sense!).

Don’t forget August is Bonus Days.  This means that you get a $5 coupon for every $50 you spend.  The coupon can then be redeemed during the month of September.  There is no limit to how many coupons you can earn.  If you spend $100 you get two coupons.  If you spend $150, you get three coupons.  If you spend $1,000, I will love you (and you will get a lot of coupons (20) and free stuff!!).  Plus spending $1000 will make me reach my 2018 sales goal of $100,000 in sales!  Truly, any order in August would be great so I can reach my goal!

Sorry For Everything

Although I love to make cards, I am never happy to have to make a sympathy card.  It is funny (well not funny) but I never used to send sympathy cards.  I don’t know why.  I just didn’t.  I don’t ever remember my parents getting sympathy cards when their parents passed away so maybe it was just something they didn’t do either.  Then my step father died and I received so many beautiful cards.  It made a difference knowing I was going through a tough time and my friends cared enough to send (and make) me a card.

Stampin’ Up! came out with a new stamp set in the 2017/2018 Annual Catalog.  It is called Sorry For Everything and it really fits everything.  It covers everything from forgetting a birthday to the loss of a pet.  It includes break ups, get well, retirement, moving and so much more.  It is a set everyone should own.

Although it is hard to tell, this card is a fun fold card.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Eastern Palace.  The flower is from Colorful Season and cut out using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  The leaf is from a set in the 2017 Holiday Catalog called Painted Harvest and the matching Leaf Punch.

One For The Guys Challenge

It’s Friday and time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time we needed to make a masculine card.

These are always the hardest because men would probably rather have a funny card.  You know.  Many men would rather have one that has a monkey on it with some crazy (but funny) saying.  The first card Rob ever gave  me had a picture of King Kong on it.  The inside said “Razzmatazz.  Rooty toot toot.  I want to see you in your birthday suit”!  I do have to say that my boys seem to like my cards (at least they say they do) but I know they would probably rather have a funny one too.

I think the trick to making a good masculine card is to keep it simple.  This is exactly what I did for my card.

I used a new stamp set called Sorry For Everything.  You know how I love big sentiments and the word “Sorry” is super big.  Then the set has 9 other stamps that go with sorry such as “for your loss”, “I missed your birthday” and “for the loss of your furry friend”.  In this case I chose the simple one “I’m so very”.  That covers everything!

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Pick A Pattern.  It has these crazy funky designs on one side and great patterns on the other.

Let’s all go see what amazing creations Buffy and Jackie made!
