Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

This seems like the busiest time of the year personally and at Stampin’ Up®. The retirement list for the July – December Mini Catalog came out and so many products are retiring. Some of the retiring products are on sale! It is also the time where Demonstrators are getting ready for the 2023 January – May Mini Catalog and the 2023 Sale-a-bration Catalog to begin on January 5th. Demonstrators are allowed to purchase items from these catalogs beginning December 1st. Plus, there is always the 2022 – 2023 Annual Catalog which is full of fun products!

One of the suites that is retiring is called Splendid Day. This suite includes the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts, Coordinating dies Called Splendid Stems, Splendid Day Designer Series Paper, Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon and Open Leaf Trinkets. It is one of my favorite suites in the July – December Mini Catalog.

To make this card, I first stamped the leaves, bees and the sentiment on Sahara Sand card stock. Then I ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and then, once again to cut the images out using the coordinating dies.

Next, I cut the open leaf from Soft Suede card stock. I layered all these pieces on a 3″ x 4.25″ piece of the Splendid Day Designer Series Paper. This paper is just gorgeous. On one side the papers are shiny and metallic and on the other side is regular paper with designs. I layered this on a piece of Soft Suede card stock. Then I took another sheet of the DSP (a non-shiny side) and layered that onto another piece of Soft Suede card stock. It is hard to see in the photo but it has a very light white design on it. I layered all of this on a Sahara Sand card base.

Splendid Thoughts Class 4

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

These are the cards I made at the last Stampin’ Up!® class that was held for Demonstrators using the Splendid Day bundle. I am actually going to miss these classes. They were fun, yet easy and showed us a few techniques. This time we did some masking and ink blending.

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

The card above is the one that Shannon (a Stampin’ Up!® employee) made. I CASED (Copy And Share Everything) it almost as she made it but had to change it up a little (of course). Shannon just used a Basic White card base whereas I decided to use a layer on top of a Basic White card base for my card. I also place the sentiment in a different place and added some embellishments that she did not.

To make this card you first need some Masking Paper. Masking paper is paper that is sticky on one side and smooth on the other. You cut a piece and place the sticky side down to cover an area that you do not want to get inky. In this case, I covered the bottom section of a piece of 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic White card stock. Then I added another piece about 1.5″ above that so I had just a strip showing. Then, I used a Blending Brush to add Mango Melody ink to the left side of the strip going a little more than halfway to the other side. Then I added Pumpkin Pie ink to the other side.

Next, I moved the masking paper to cover up what I just inked and another piece about an1.5″ above that. I added Pumpkin Pie ink to the left and Cajun Craze to the right. I stamped the leaf from the Splendid Thoughts stamp pad in two places using Cajun Craze ink, then the bee and the sentiment. Lastly, I added some 2021-2023 InColor Opal Rounds.

I made another card using the same technique using Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Orchid Oasis ink. I stamped the images in Memento Black in and added some Matte Black Dots.

Shannon’s co-worker made a card just like this using different greens. That one was pretty too!

Splendid Thoughts Class Card

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

This is the third card that we made during a Stampin’ Up!® class meeting. I posted the first two HERE. The classes are all online and are for Demonstrators only. Stampin’ Up! gives us a list of the products and card stock measurements ahead of time and then we can make the cards together on a Zoom call or watch the video at a later time. All of the cards we made used the Splendid Day Suite which is in the Stampin’ Up!® Up! 2022 July – December Mini Catalog.

To make this card I first stamped the background using the Rays Of Light stamp. I used Soft Succulent ink on a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Soft Succulent card stock. Then I randomly re-inked the stamp with some Versamark ink, sprinkled some Heat & Stick Powder over it and heat set it with my Heat Tool. You have to be careful not to overheat it because the Heat & Stick Powder will lose its stickiness if you do. Then I pressed some Gilded Leafing on it. You can see it stuck only where the Heat & Stick Powder was. I adhered this to a Soft Succulent card base. By the way, the Glided Leafing tends to fly all over the place so I put mine in a box and then press the cardstock over the leafing and brush off the excess with a sponge or brush.

Next, I stamped a piece of Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent card stock using Evening Evergreen ink using three stamps from the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts and cut them out using the coordinating dies from Splendid Stems. You can save 10% if you purchase them in a bundle. I cut out another leaf in Evening Evergreen card stock. Although the class did not use Gold Foil, I decided to cut out a couple of pieces for my card. I know. I always have to change or add to a design. It was also supposed to be a Christmas card but I made it a birthday card instead. I layered all of these on top of the piece of card stock where I used the Rays Of Light stamp.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark heat, sprinkled some Gold embossing powder over it and heat set it with my Heat tool on a piece of Real Red card stock. Then I cut it out with another die from the Splendid Stems set.

I will post the fourth card in a few days.

Splendid Thoughts

Recently Stampin’ Up!® held some online classes for Demonstrators every Wednesday during the month of October using the Splendid Days Suite from the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog. This suite includes the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts, Coordinating dies called Splendid Stems, Open Leaf Trinkets, Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon and Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper. I was not able to attend the classes live (mainly because I just plain forgot) but I was able to watch them at a later date. Actually, the fourth class has not aired at the time of this writing, so maybe I might make that one!

This is the first card we made. Keep in mind this was Shannon West’s card design. I just stamped along with her.

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

To make this card, I first made a whitewash background using Water Painters and White Craft Ink. You just put a few drops of the ink onto the inside top of the White Craft ink pad, add some water and brush it onto a Crumb Cake card base. I have to admit, I either used too much water or my ink is very old because it kept soaking into the card stock. I finally waited until it dried and then added ink using a sponge. That worked a lot better for me.

Next, I stamped the leaf and the sentiment from the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts with White Craft Ink onto a piece of Blushing Bride card stock, sprinkled some white embossing powder over it and heat set it. Then I took the edge of a die from Stylish Shapes Die Set to cut out the border on one side. I cut out one leaf in Early Espresso card stock and another leaf using the Splendid Day DSP. I glued the together and then tied a bow around the stems using Linen Thread. Lastly, I added some Classic Matte Dots (which Shannon did not use).

Here is the second card we made. The only thing I changed about Shannon’s card was I used different colors.

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

To make this card, I first stamped the leaf background in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Basic White card stock. Then I rubbed the Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Soft Pastels over it. Shannon used Night Of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Gorgeous Grape on her card. I wanted to use lighter colors. Keep in mind that when you first use the Soft Pastels you need to rub them on a piece of scrap paper to get the outer coating off. After I scribbled over the Versamark leaves, I rubbed the excess chalk off using a microfiber cloth. Then I layered this on top of a piece of Basic Black card stock. I cut the three leaves from the Splendid Stems die set in Basic White card stock and layered them on top. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkled white embossing powder over it and heat set it with my Heat Tool. I cut it out using the Stylish Shapes Dies. Then, I adhered it on top of the leaves using Dimensionals. Lastly I added some black Classic Matte Dots.

I love how Stampin’ Up!® shows us new techniques to try like whitewashing or rubbing Soft Pastels over Versamark ink. I finished the third class which used Heat & Stick Powder with Gold Leafing which I will show you at a later date.

Framed Florets

Stampin Up Framed Florets

I am really loving this new collection that Stampin’ Up!® is releasing on November 1st to customers. As a Demonstrator, we were able to order it early. It is one of the many perks we get as Demonstrators that I love (that and the great discount we get). The collection includes a stamp set called Framed Florets, another stamp set called Framed & Festive, coordinating Framed Festive dies (yes, Stampin’ Up!® actually named the dies the same as the stamp set making things much easier!), Fitting Florest Designer Series Paper and Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls.

I decided to use this new collection for a wedding card I needed to make. It is perfect for that. There are three oval dies included in the dies set. One cuts out a fancy oval, one cuts out an oval frame and one cuts out the little heart oval on my card. I used this die on a piece of Basic White card stock and then backed it with a slightly smaller piece of Highland Heather card stock. Next, I cut out the oval frame in Basic White. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts using Memento Black ink in the center.

After that, I stamped the flower bouquet in Memento Black ink and colored it using Highland Heather, Old Olive and Balmy Blue Blends. I adhered it to my card using Mini Dimensionals. I layered everything together on top of a Basic White card base. Lastly, I added some Opals Rounds.

I think this makes a beautiful wedding card.

Splendid Thoughts

Stampin Up Splendid Thoughts

This is the third, and my favorite card we made at our last stamp camp. Why is it my favorite? Because I love the new Split Card Textures dies! There are two dies in this set. One cuts out the design you see here and the other cuts out flowers. Both only cut half a page, which adds so much interest to a card.

This card was fairly simple to make. First, I used the Split Card Textures die on a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic White card stock. I layered that on top of a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of the Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is absolutely gorgeous. There are soft designs on one side of each piece. On the other side is a foil paper design in Fresh Freesia, Silver, Copper and Gold foil. They are just gorgeous in person. I used the soft side for the background of my card and the foiled side in Fresh Freesia for the pot.

Next, I stamped the leaves from the stamp set called Splendid Thoughts in Evening Evergreen ink and colored them using Soft Succulent Blends. Next, I cut it out using the coordinating die from the Splendid Stems die set. If you purchase the stamp set and the dies using the bundle item number, you will save 10%. I adhered that to the card using Multipurpose Glue. The glue worked better to make it adhere to the uneven card stock from the Split Card Textures die. Next, I cut out the pot using the same die set, tied a piece of white Baker’s Twine around it and adhered it using Dimensionals. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink.
