Blackberry Beauty DSP

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was very busy. We spent Christmas Eve with my Nashville family and Christmas Day we drove to Alabama and spent a couple of days with that family. There is nothing better than spending the holidays with grandchildren. I love watching them open their presents and be so excited. Of course, what usually happens after all of that is a melt down but this year everyone was very good.

Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper is one of my all time favorite papers. It is just beautiful. The colors in it are Polished Pink, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, and Cinnamon Cider. Then on one side of each sheet is a design with gold foil that makes it so rich and elegant looking. This Designer Series Paper is in the 2021 July – December Mini Catalog and sadly, it will retire on January 3rd. This is one paper I will keep forever though. The best part about it is you can let the paper speak for itself so all you really need to do is add a sentiment and you have a gorgeous card.

This card was so simple to make. I layered a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper on a Blackberry Bliss card base. The I cut another piece of the paper (2.75″ x 4″) and layered that on another 3″ x 4.25″ piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock.

Next I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder using my Heat Too. The sentiment is a sneak peek from the 2022 January – June Mini Catalog that is available on January 4th. The stamp set is called Friendly Hello and you can get that AND some 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper for FREE with a $100 order.

Mountain Air

My eldest sister, Katherine, asked me to make her some Christmas cards for her to send to some friends. She lives in Vermont and loves nature and winter so designed this card for her.

To make it I first took some Whisper White ink and a Blending Brush and made the “snow” along the bottom of a piece of Crumb Cake card stock. Then I stamp the moon using the stamp set called Mountain Air. I dried the ink using my Heat Tool and then did both things a couple of more times to make the ink more opaque. After it was dry I stamped the trees randomly in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive ink. The sentiment is from a retired stamp set called Christmas Pines. I chose this sentiment because it has a special meaning to my sister. The last thing I did was put the snowflakes around using a white gel pen. I layered the stamped piece on a larger piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and a Crumb Cake card base.

I was reaching into my drawer of envelopes to pull some out for her when I saw some retired Crumb Cake (or maybe Kraft) envelopes that went well with this card. I added a piece of Beauty Of The Earth Designer Series Paper to the inside of the envelope which matched the card perfectly.

Merriest Moments

Stampin Up Merriest Moments

Once again, I apologize for this post.  My computer is in the shop so I had to use my phone and it doesn’t quite work as well so things may not be lined up correctly or the colors may be off.  I figured something posted crazy like is better than no post (maybe).

I made this card using the stamp set called Merriest Moments.  This set is in the 2021 July – December MIni Catalog.  It has a coordinating die set and embossing folder called Merriest Frames (although I did not use them for this card) and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle.

The colors I used are Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry.  To make this card, I first drew a circle using a pencil which made it easier to lines things up where I wanted them.  Then I stamped the flowers and leaves over that circle.  When I was done, I erased it so you can’t see it.  Next I stamped the sentiment in Soft Succulent ink.  I felt like it needed something more so I randomly stamped some splatters in Rich Razzleberry ink.  Lastly I added some Elegant Faceted Gems in various places.

Thanks for being so patient while I wait for my laptop to be fixed.  It is a fairly new one and the battery was only lasting one to two hours before needing charging and it was running very hot.  Of course, they had to send it in for repairs because they could not fix it in the store.  Such is life.

Art Gallery

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge was to make a “get well” or “thinking of you” card.  I chose to use the Art Gallery Stamp set with the coordinating Floral Gallery Dies.

Stampin Up Art Gallery

One of the reasons I love this stamp set is because it has a lot of very useful sentiments.  Besides the one I used, it also has happy birthday, thank you, I miss you, congratulations, sorry, best wishes and you are lovely.  There is a sentiment for just about everything.

I stamped the flowers in this set a little differently.  The flowers in this set are two step stamps.  This means it takes two or more stamps to make an image.  I did not use the main background stamp on my flowers.  Instead I used the stamp that highlights the flowers using Blushing Bride ink.  Then I took my Blushing Bride Stampin Write Marker and lightly put strokes of color over the top using the side of the marker and not the tip.  I like how there is a lot of white space on the flowers.  I stamped the leaves using Granny Apple Green ink and then cut everything out using the coordinating dies.

I layered the flowers over a Basic White and Smoky Slate oval using the Layering Oval Dies.  As a side note, these dies are retiring on May 3rd or as long as supplies last.  These are a definite must have set of dies.  There are eight different sized ovals and seven scalloped ovals.  I placed everything on top of a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set I used really says “I’m thinking of you”.  It is rare that I would send a sympathy or thinking of you card without saying it was from Rob and me so I masked the word I’m using Washi Tape, inked the stamp in Smoky Slate, pulled off the Washi Tape (that part is very important or you will get a big blob of ink on your card stock) and then stamped it. I cut it out using one of the dies in the Floral Gallery set.   Lastly I added some Pastel Pearls.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  They make the most beautiful cards.

Friend Like You

Stampin Up Friend Like You

Friend Like You is one of those stamp sets that I loved the first time I saw it.  It has a great font.  There are a few of the sentiments that are larger (everyone knows I love large sentiments) and it is a two step stamp set which is always fun.  A two step stamp set is where you use two stamps to make one image.  The palm trees and the grass are both images that use two stamps.  The sentiment I used on this card is perfect for these times where you can’t see your friends but you want to keep in touch by sending a card.  Plus, Friend Like You has coordinating dies called Friendly Silhouettes Dies. Sadly this stamp set and coordinating dies are retiring on May 2nd so if you like it, you should order it before it is gone for good.

To make this card, I first stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink.  Pretty Peacock is one of the InColors that will be retiring this year.  Then I cut it out using a die from Hippo & Friends.  I backed that with a Granny Apple Green die cut that is one size bigger than the sentiment one.  Before I adhered them together I decided to add a little dimension around the edge of the Granny Apple Green one.  I saw someone do this on the internet somewhere.  I am sorry I did not make note of who it was, but I thought this idea was brilliant.

To make the ridge around the die, first die cut it the regular way.  Then put the die cut back into the die and turned it over.  Then run your stylus around the inside edge of the die slowly.  I used my stylus from my Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

Stampin Up Hippo & Friends

It will look like this afterwards.

When you pop it out of the die it gives a nice, even edge around the outside.  If you look closely you can see it in the photograph of the card above.

After this, I took a piece of 4.25″ x 5.5″ of Basic White cardstock and used a die from the set called Christmas Layers in one corner and then, again in the other corner.  Christmas Layers is another die set that will be retiring at the end of this catalog.  I layered that onto a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock that is just a wee bit smaller.  Then I adhered that to a Pretty Peacock card base.   After putting everything together I felt like it still needed something so I added some Seaside Spray flowers cut from another die in the Hippo & Friends set.

Boho Indigo

Stampin Up Boho Indigo

Boho Indigo is one of the Product Medleys that Stampin’ Up! offers in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  I love their Product Medleys because they include everything you need (except adhesive) to make tons of cards all built into one kit.  Plus, there is a refill kit you can purchase that includes all the paper products in the original kit.

One of my favorite parts in this kit are the included embossed backgrounds.  This one has embossed diamond shapes on Very Vanilla cardstock.  It makes it so easy to add texture to your card.  I just adhered this embossed background onto a Night Of Navy card base.

To make the vase, I glued a small strip of Seaside Spray cardstock onto a piece of Night Of Navy cardstock and cut it out using one of the dies included in the kit.  Then I ran it thought my Cut & Embossing Machine using the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder.  I cut the scalloped rectangle out using the Boho Indigo Designer Series Paper that is included in the kit with a Stitched So Sweetly die. I cut out two sets of leaves in Garden Green card stock using a Boho Indigo die and added that to the DSP.  Then I adhered the vase to it.  I used Stampin Dimensionals to add it to my card base.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called ArtGallery which is in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog.  I stamped it in Night Of Navy ink onto a sliver of Seaside Spray cardstock I already had and just cut off the end at an angle.   I hid the word “I’m”after I stamped it underneath the DSP.

Now, I don’t know this for sure but Product Medleys do not usually carry over to the next catalog so if you like it, you should order it soon.  The new catalog starts on May 1st this year and once a kit is gone, it is gone for good even if that is before the end of the present catalog.  Don’t forget to order any of the retiring InColors products such as cardstock, ink pads and ink refills that will retire this year (Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Seaside Spray and Purple Posy).  Once the retirement list comes out on March 24th, those products will go quickly.

By the way, the Stampin’ Up!® Retirement List will be available today at 3:00 PM EST so check back to see what is retiring.  If there is anything you really want to have, purchase it as soon as possible because things run out very quickly!

Beautiful Friendship & Many Messages

Stampin Up Beautiful Friendship Many Messages

Beautiful Friendship is still one of my favorite stamp sets from the 2020 2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  The flowers included in it are just so pretty.  Plus they are DisINKtive stamps which means that one stamp is used to give an image dimension or depth.  If you look at the Hydrangeas on my card you can see how some of the flowers are light and some are dark.  This was done by just one stamp.

I used my Stamparatus to help me make this card.  I first place a piece of 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock in my Stamparatus and then lined up the Hydrangea stamp to be in the upper right corner.  I inked the stamp using Seaside Spray ink and stamped it once.  Then I flipped my card stock 180 degrees, inked up the Hydrangea  again and stamped it so it would be in the lower left corner.  I started to do the same thing with the Highland Heather flowers but decided it looked too uniform and ended up adding extra flowers and the Pear Pizzazz leaves by hand.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Many Messages.  This is one big stamp and has a matching die called Messages that cuts all the sentiments outs at one time.  I actually have thought about cutting all the sentiment apart to use separately but haven’t done that yet.  It is really hard for me to cut a stamp apart!  The good part of not cutting it apart is now I have a container of lots of sentiment strips ready to use.  The bad part is I now have a container of lots of sentiment strips to use!

I wrapped the card stock with a piece of Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon.  I love this ribbon because it has sparkles in it and is so pretty.  Then I added three Elegant Faceted Gems.

Don’t forget if you love Seaside Spray as much as I do, make sure you order the card stock, ink pad and ink refill before it is gone forever.  It is one of the retiring InColors and once the products are gone, they are gone forever.  As a reminder the other colors retiring this year are Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile and Purple Posy.

Playful Alphabet

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time we have a color challenge.  I don’t know who made up these colors together but they are crazy!  Oh wait.  It was me!

Stampin Up Playful Alphabet I got the idea from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper.  That is the great thing about the Stampin’ Up!® papers.  They give you the colors ahead of time and I love that sometimes they put colors together that I would never think of.  Plus I am still on my goal to actually use most of my Designer Series Paper.  I’m not doing that well but better than I used to.

To make this card I started with a piece of the Well Suited DSP.  I love how the Cajun Craze stripes look Grosgrain ribbon.   Then I had to decide what color would look good with Night Of Navy and Cajun Craze.  I decided BumbleBee looked great with them.   I cut the letters using the Playful Alphabet Die set.  I adhered them to the flags which are part of the Tasteful Labels dies.  I decided to adhere the flags using Dimensionals which gave the card some depth.   I stamped the word “birthday” using the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  I masked off the word Happy using tape.  Then I cut it out using a die from Hydrangea Dies.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using these crazy colors.
