Penguin Place

Stampin up Penguin PlaceFirst of all, I have to apologize for this blog post.  My computer is in the shop for repairs so I am trying to write this post on my phone.  This is not an easy task (at least for me) so if the photo of my card is bad or if things are not lined up correctly, I apologize and will fix it when my computer is back.  In the meantime, this post will be short and sweet.

I made this card using the stamp set call Penguin Place. this set has a coordinating punch called Penguin Builder Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle.  I first stamped the Penguin in Gorgeous Grape ink and punch it out.  The punch can be used for the feet too so I punched them out in Fresh Freesia card stock.  I stamped the hat and scarf in Just Jade and cut them out by hand.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Create With Friends.  I adhered the Wonderful Snowflakes to a piece of Fresh Freesia card stock using Multipurpose Glue  The snowflakes are iridescent so they sparkle and shine,  The little stars are called Cute Stars Adhesive Backed Sequins.  As a side note, the Wonderful Snowflakes and the Cute Stars Sequins will be retiring at the end of the July – December Mini Catalog.

Another Abstract Impressions

As I am sure you can tell, I love the stamp set called Abstract Impressions.  Of course, I love most flower stamps anyway but this one is one of my favorites from the new catalog.  It has a set of matching Thinlits called Springtime Impressions and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

The colors I used for this card are Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink ( this color is a very pretty light peach), Grapefruit Grove and Daffodil Delight.  I find the best way to use this two-step stamp set is to stamp the lighter color first and then the darker one over it.

Last week I went to Nashville to visit Sam, Tara, Madelyn and Nolan.  They just moved there to begin their new journey in life.  I am very proud of all of them and of course, wish them the best.  Sam, at the age of 34, has finally finished all his schooling and got a real job.  He did four years of college, four years of medical school, 3 years of residency, 3 years of a Cardiology fellowship and 2 years of Intervention Cardiology!  That is a lot of schooling!  Crazy, isn’t it?!

Now I am sure you know what is coming!  Grandchildren pictures.  Today’s picture is of Nolan.  He is 9 months old and the sweetest baby boy you will ever meet.  When you just look at him, he smiles and when you pick him up he wraps his little arms around your neck and actually gives you a hug.  It is the sweetest thing! He he is at school watercoloring.  I think he likes it!

Something For Baby Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie and Buffy is to make a baby card (well it doesn’t have to be a card as you will soon see!).

march-10-001

The timing of this theme could not be better!  Right now I am in Alabama visiting my brand new granddaughter, Emory Jade.  Let me tell you.  She is just beautiful. She is only a couple of hours old here.

img_20170227_204058 Mary and Zachary (Emory’s Mom & Dad) came to our house at Christmas.  Mary had been here before and had seen a wreath I had made using paper flowers.  She asked if I would cover a giant “E” with flowers to put over Emory’s crib.  The E was probably 2 – 2 1/2 feet in length.  I decided it would be more fun for Emory and Mary if she helped.  We spent a lot of hours cutting out flowers, glueing them together and then glueing them on the E.  We used a variety of new and retired Stampin’ Up! dies.

Here is a picture of the E on Emory’s wall.  I think it came out pretty.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made for their baby themed project.

High Tide

High Tide, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is the second card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It uses a stamp set in the 2017 Occasions Catalog called High Tide.  I love this set.  It is so New England!  It is a two step  stamp set which means you actually use two different stamps to make one image.  In this case, the lighthouse uses the two step stamps.  I inked one of the stamps in Marina Mist and stamped it on a scrap piece of paper first and then on the cardstock.  This made it is a little lighter than just stamping it directly onto the card stock.  Then I inked the second stamp with Marina Mist but did not stamp off this time.  It is really easy to line up the stamps because they are Photopolymer which means they are clear so you can see through them.

Botanical Builder Framelits

Botanical Builder, Watercolor Wishes, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is a fun card that requires very little stamping.  The only thing I actually stamped was the “Thanks” from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit.  That is one of the nice things about kits.  You put all the cards together (there are 20 in this kit) but you still have the stamps to use forever.  This particular sets of stamps has a great font that looks like handwriting.  I use it quite a bit.

The flowers and the leaves are from the set of Framelits called Botanical Builder.  It does have a matching set of stamps called Botanical Blooms but I didn’t actually use them on this card.

Cool Treats

Cool Treats, Frozen Treats, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is one of the cards we made at our Monthly Stamp Club meeting.  It uses a stamp set from the 2017 Occasions Catalog called Cool Treats.  This stamp set has a set of matching Framelits called Frozen Treats and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  There are 36 stamps (wow!!) and 17 dies (another wow!!) in this Bundle.

The 2016/2018 In Colors are perfect for this stamp set because they remind me of fun summer colors (sherbet).  I used Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party for the different kinds of ice cream.  They are such bright summery colors.  I also used the matching Designer Series Paper called Tasty Treats for the side panels.  You can save paper if you just cut out the panels and don’t use an entire sheet to cover the front of the card.

Is it summer yet?

Weather Together

Weather Together, Umbrella Weather, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

The other day we had the most amazing thunder and lightening storms.  We don’t usually get them in February so it was kind of crazy.  When I woke up the air temperature was 52 degrees.  That alone is unusual.  As the morning went on, it got even warmer.  All of a sudden around noon, the skies got very, very dark.  It got so dark we had to turn the lights on.  We could hear the wind getting closer (we live in the woods so we could hear it) and then it started pouring.  I mean POURING.  It was a little scary but fun to watch.

In any case, I thought it was appropriate to post this card using the stamp set called Weather Together.  It has a set of matching Framelits called Umbrella Weather and you can save 10% by purchasing in a bundle.  It is a fun set and has some really nice sentiments.

Of course, you would not be able to use an umbrella today because you might end up a couple of miles away!
